Very nice unit with a beautiful view. We liked the unit so much, we want to book it again for next year. Puamana is our favorite place to stay - quiet yet close to town. Oceanside views can’t be beat.

Nothing beats being beach front and listening to the crashing waves right in front of your lanai, 24/7. We surf, and there is a break right in front of the condos, so we could literally see the conditions from home, and watch each other from the lanai. The space itself was well equipped with everything needed for a fabulous time, even yoga mats and tennis rackets for the private court. The kitchen and bathroom were beautifully renovated and everything was wonderful. Our only complaint was having to leave this paradise of a property, and we cannot wait to return!

Absolutely beautiful

This was such a wonderful place to stay in Maui. The unit is in the quiet Puamana complex in Lahaina. It is about 1.5 miles to downtown Front Street. Not much is walking distance so a rental car is necessary (which you’ll want anyway). The complex is beautifully landscaped, with 3 pools, a gym (for $30/day), and a small, quiet, secluded beach. There are surfers to watch all day every day! Now the condo itself is a corner unit with panoramic ocean views from your private lanai. It is common to have people walk by along the ocean but very quiet atmosphere. There is 1 king bedroom (very comfortable bed and pillows), 1.5 baths (with an array of towels, hair dryer), a very well equipped kitchen which is open to living and dining space. Beautiful deep wood furnishings and very tastefully decorated. Anything you could need, this owner has thought of. Beach towels and chairs are not guaranteed but we were pleasantly surprised to find plenty of each (so wait on renting until you check!). There was also a drip coffee maker and some coffee to start our trip. Overall we loved our stay and were so happy we chose this rental.

great location, great unit, high end, centrally located

We stayed in this unit back in June of '09 (the dates wouldn't go back that far), and of the six trips to Puamana, in four units, this was an absolute favorite. Puamana generally is great, but the ocean front are the best, and this unit was nicely upgraded and well stocked. You park on one side of your unit, walk through, and there's your lanai, and in the distance, Larry Ellison's island of Lanai. It's stunning, and easy. As of the time we were there, we could bbq on our lanai, which is so much better than community bbq's, which can be inconvenient, dirty, and frustrating. There's no one above you, so it's quite private and quiet. You can watch the surfers from your kitchen or living room. The views were the most open of any unit we've stayed in. It's not just an end unit, but unlike most, they've opened the side window, AND they have no on else close on that side, so it makes for spectacular views. You can enjoy the ocean nearly as much from inside as out with such open walls. Anyway, loved this unit and would recommend it highly! Thanks to the owners for sharing with all of us. Gorgeous and well stocked kitchen. Plenty of electronics, including a nice sized tv. Super helpful owners. The home is central to Puamana, which means Lahaina isn't too far away. With such a big property, if you like to walk to town, there's a significant distance between one end and the other. And it's away from the highway, so unless you consider crashing waves 'noisy', it's quite quiet in this area (which isn't true of all of Puamana.) It's also quite close to the clubhouse in case you want to pop over and sit in their gorgeous space, or just borrow a book. The only negative is that the bedroom is away from the ocean. That has allowed for a much more open view, but it means you won't sleep with the sound of crashing waves. Frankly, unless the bedroom is on the 2nd floor, I couldn't sleep with the door open anyway--the property is super safe, but petty crimes of opportunity are an issue (likely through the islands), so I would personally lock up for the soundest sleep if you are on ground level. The owners get both the sense of safety and the crashing ocean sounds as they have an ocean view suite upstairs. As of the time we rented, they kept that to themselves--who could blame them.

It's a beautiful property looking out on a beautiful view. Everything was clean and there were no maintenance issues. Our only concern was the confusing information regarding the checkout time. Our initial contract indicated an 11am checkout, around which we planned our final day. That time was confirmed in writing when we made our final payment. But apparently the fine print of the contract had changed to a 10am checkout without that change being highlighted. The day before we left we were informed that we needed to leave the unit an hour earlier than planned. Our request for an 11am checkout was rejected and this left us with a bad feeling at the end of a perfect stay.

Awesome Property - Perfect for Two

We loved the location at Puamana and the amenities. Watched beautiful sunsets and surfers from our lanai. Used the beach chairs and beach towels provided when we went to the beach. Great restaurants and shopping close by in Lahaina. Kitchen well equipped for cooking our own meals, too. Perfect for the two of us celebrating the beginning of our retirement!

Beautiful place

It was everything we had hoped for! Close access to a private beach, comfortable living space, short distance to Lahaina and felt like Home away from home. We love sitting out on the lanai every morning and evening watching the surfers and taking in the ocean air. We will definitely be back!

15 Year Anniversary Trip

This property is beautifully updated and extremely comfortable, private and quiet. The people within the community were very kind and welcoming. The views are breathtaking. The property was also only a couple miles from downtown Lahaina. The were only 2 cons: 1) The photos gives the impression that this specific property had direct access to a sandy beach. In reality, it is a rock bed and you are unable to pass the tree border. 2) There were a LOT of ants in the kitchen all over the counters. Overall, the cons were not enough to deter me from staying here again.

Great Stay

We have stayed many times in Puamana over the past 20 years. This unit was probably the best one. The location was great in that not only was it right on the beach but it was the first unit just south of the clubhouse and close to the oceanfront pool. The unit itself felt newly remodeled and had 4-panel sliding doors that completely opened up the living room/kitchen to the lanai. This was a great unit.

Glitches in Paradise

Air Conditioning in Bedroom didn't work. The hot water timer was not working. The bed was terrible and the pillows even worse! Eventually we got a portable ac unit put in by a great handyman that worked with the rental agency. The timer for the water heater got reset and we had hot water the last two days. The bed and pillows we were stuck with. In addition the lounge chairs on the lanai were both torn and you ended up sitting on the cross bars. We sat in chairs and put our feet up instead. The living room was gorgeous as advertised and the stereo was great once you figured out how everything worked. The flat screen was new and worked flawlessly. Nothing could fault the view as it was spectacular. This unit really needs some fine tuning. The owner was willing to give us one night free for our trouble. It seems to me that the Property Management representative could have done a better job in monitoring this unit. If things are broken or wearing out, they should let the owner know that it's necessary to replace items. I'm sure that is what the owner pays for in their management fee. I would come back if I could be assured that these items had been taken care of. There is so much there to like, it's a shame that these things happened. I must also mention that this was one of the hottest and most humid times I have ever experienced in Hawaii. The repair man said A/C units were breaking all over the Island. I have rented many Condos on vacations and was disappointed that so many things distracted from our enjoyment.

Exceeptional location wonderful property,

I have stayed in other units in Puamana over the years but this one is by far the best. The location is perfect, it is close to the ocean pool and clubhouse. The unit is very nicely furnished, with high speed internet, flat screen TV's, CD & DVD player, fully equiped kitchen and a great living area. The view from the lanai is as good as it gets. Lahaina is within walking distance we walked in for breakfast and shopping.
