Enjoy small-town, Main Street from the front porch of this historic bungalow!

Welcome to the gorgeous Historic 1929 E.Q. Benbow House located in downtown Mount Airy, NC, home of Mayberry Days and the Autumn Leaves Festival. The Twisted Oak Bungalow is located near Wally's Service Station where you can take a squad car ride to see the sites in our lovely, small town. With 5 bedrooms and 2.5 baths, this spacious bungalow can accommodate up to 10-12 guests. It is walking distance from downtown. Enjoy some porch swinging time. This house is on the NC Historic Register.

This 1929 Bungalow boasts five bedrooms, two and a half baths, and several large entertaining areas, including a large, modern kitchen. Also, guests are encouraged to spend time outside on the front porch and back-covered patio area that includes a fire pit perfect for marshmallow roasting. There is enough space for the whole family..

Absolutely adorable house with everything you could need during your stay. We were able to walk easily to the main shopping and dining area as well. Would love to stay again in the future.

My parents have been going to Mt Airy every year for Mayberry Days for 32 years straight. I hadn't been there since I was a kid so this year we decided to surprise my dad with a house and my husband and I tagging along. This house was perfect for us, my parents, and friends of my parents. We had plenty of space and were close enough to downtown that we could walk. The hosts were very responsive and helpful. The house was clean and comfortable. We loved sitting on the front porch in the evenings. The beds were comfortable and the hosts even left some snacks for us when we got in from our 10 hour drive. We would definitely recommend!

Autumn Leaves Festival

This property was amazing!! Very spacious and well maintained. We had planty of room for 10 adults and a 4 year old. The large front porch was a favorite gathering place. We were close enough to walk to the festival downtown. We will definitely stay here again!

Home in Mt Airy

This is a beautiful old home with period decorations and furnishings in the living areas and updated kitchen and bathrooms. We loved the Christmas decorations (outside and inside).We were in town for a funeral and this was a great home away from home with plenty of separate gathering areas. 2 living rooms, dining room, kitchen in addition to the 5 bedrooms.

Family Wedding

Property was as pictured. It was very roomy with several areas for our group to gather. We especially enjoyed the front porch and living room. We had a group of ten people and were able to have plenty of room. The layout is two bedrooms on the main floor and three bedrooms upstairs. While we didn’t cook at the house, the kitchen was well stocked and had a nice bar area if you need one. A variety of small appliances were available and a large closet with supplies was there to use. I certainly recommend this property for a family stay such as ours.

Wonderful home and host

The house was beautiful, well kept and comfortable. It was in a great location that was walking distance to all things touristy! The backyard was fenced in so my 2 dogs got to run around safely and have fun as well! We had an ac incident so I texted Shannon and she sent over a repairman within the hour who quickly fixed the problem. Everything we needed was provided and little extras made us feel very special! I highly recommend this home for your stay in the area!

Perfect for a family getaway

This property was everything we could have wanted and more. We were in town for a funeral and wanted a place that the entire family could stay in besides separate hotel rooms. The house was very spacious and accommodating. The owners obviously went to great lengths to ensure that we had everything we needed. The location to downtown was within walking distance. Our favorite activity was sitting on the comfy chairs on the front porch and watching everyone walking and driving by. I don’t always give properties rave reviews but this one is definitely in my top five best ever.

Charming Twisted Oak

This was the perfect spot for a friend reunion! The house was so much more than we expected! Wonderful upgrades but also so much of the charm was left in the architectural features. The porch was so inviting to sit and watch the fireflies dance in the garden and see the old police cars drive by. You would think you’re in another time. The beds were very comfortable and the towels plush! We each agreed to be looking for them for our own homes. The kitchen was FULLY stocked with almost anything you could need. We thoroughly enjoyed cooking our meals and having plenty of space to eat together. Also lots of space to spread out and play some games and just fellowship! There were several tvs but we didn’t need them! We loved that downtown was a short walk of about 12-15 mins to wander around. Overall this was one of the best rentals we’ve ever had! Thank you for such an inviting and beautiful place!!

Beautiful home! Very clean, decorated amazingly , perfect location & lots of room! We had fun around the town & surrounding area. Cute neighborhood to walk, play pickleball and shop. We enjoyed staying at the house too, playing games in the evening.
