Two of the rooms in this Summer Haven condo look straight out at the Atlantic: the living room and the primary bedroom both open to ocean views, with sliding glass doors that pull the water right into the space. The setting is a barrier island near Matanzas Inlet, south of Fort Matanzas and north of Marineland, where the beach stays quiet and the pace runs slow.
At 1,100 square feet, the condo holds two bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The primary bedroom has a king bed and its own ocean view, and the second bedroom has a queen. A sofa sleeper in the living room brings the total to six, so a family or two couples can spread out and nobody has to crowd a single bath before heading to the sand.
The kitchen is set up for real cooking, with a full-size refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, toaster, dishwasher, and coffee maker, plus cookware, dishes, utensils, and a dining area for sit-down meals. An in-unit washer and dryer keep up with the steady pile of beach towels and swimsuits. The oceanfront balcony has room for morning coffee and for watching the light shift over the water through the day. Inside you also get air conditioning, central heat, Wi-Fi and high-speed internet, a television with cable, and linens and towels provided.
Guests share a communal pool a short walk from the door, and parking is set for two cars. Pets are welcome for an additional pet fee.
Summer Haven is one of the quieter stretches of coast near St. Augustine, better suited to beach walks, birdwatching, and fishing than to crowds. Fort Matanzas National Monument is a quick, easy outing, with the inlet close by. St. Augustine Beach is about ten minutes away for more shops and restaurants, and the historic downtown, with its old streets, fort, and bayfront, sits roughly twenty minutes north.
