Your home is sweet, sunny, and in a quiet neighborhood of older homes and trees. It has an open concept foyer, kitchen and living room. The living / dining room is large, and has stuffed reading chairs which are a little worn but cozy. The bedrooms are super-comfortable and have either pillow top or memory foam beds. Pictures and plants make it more a home than simply a rental.
Your home encompasses the full main floor of the house (1450 square feet), and is fully furnished and outfitted with linens, complete kitchenware/supplies, and cleaning supplies. You have easy access from the 15/501 highway and are seven minutes from Duke Hospital/University, and approx. 20 minutes to University of Chapel Hill (UNC) & its Hospital. You'll have a large yard with seating and a multi-car parking area.
Your living room is spacious and sunny (bay window) with a beautiful view of the woods at the back of the house. It has a comfortable sofa and chairs, and includes a full dining area with an old dark wood expandable dining table.
Your kitchen is fully outfitted and is also very sunny. It includes a second full (less formal) dining area. It faces the front of the house with the large yard giving additional spaciousness to the interior.
The master bedroom has light true oak furniture and includes a private bath with shower. There are two large windows, with an additional one in its bath.
The second bedroom is the next largest, with a pillow top mattress bed, also queen. This room has two large windows, one of which faces east with the back yard and trees.
The third bedroom is small but comfortable with a large east-facing window, the light grey walls, and the all-white furniture all white. There is extra drawer storage under the bed.
The second bathroom has a tub as well as shower (rain shower head). It is in the hallway and shared by the two bedrooms.
In case you need additional sleeping accommodations, there is a full-size self-inflating air mattress with linens. The sofa is comfortable for sleeping. There are extra linens for this also.
Please know that this is an older home with elements that are worn and may need repair. If you prefer one that is newer and more modern/pristine, and more in the heart of activity, this may not serve your needs. If you enjoy older homes with a bit of character :), that have space and yard and trees, and you don’t mind a bit of the age showing through, this might be a great pick.
Your host is in a separate lower (terrace) level apartment with its own entrance, parking and yard - all at the back of the house. The house is on a slope which enables the two separate homes. The only shared area is the laundry on this lower level, where you have your own washer, dryer and supplies. You likely won’t your host unless by request or there is something you need. Please know that we have two dogs who are generally quiet, but one which does bark at times.
A few environmentally positive notes: the house has solar panels, a part-clover & wild flower yard, a pollinator garden, and provides environmentally kind cleaners. As it is on the edge of Duke Forest, it is close to many wonderful trails.
We are happy to answer any questions you may have to help you determine if this is the right space for your stay. Thank you!
