Unpredictable events like hurricanes can cause tragic consequences. Unfortunately Hurricane Ida brought significant storms to the panhandle which lasted nearly 10 days. Today, 9/08 it is still off/on raining. I emailed this guest thrice (two days, day before and day of arrival) that there was damage to the rear deck, and I needed to replace it. I offered 100% refund, he decided to keep his reservation. Deck repair began the day of his arrival, it was my only option with contractor. Modem could not connect due to internet service provider (Century Link) was down his entire stay, as of today, still 9/08 is down. Mold around one air vent (in closet) was not there prior to the storm. The roof sustained damage which allowed water in during the storm (entire week before guest arrived) The roofer's put us on the list and I waited for the insurance company to approve. Repair started during guest's last day. House manager entered property and immediately removed, area has been decontaminated and painted with KILZ Antimicrobial paint . This area is and has been clean and decontaminated. Roof repair has been done. The entire interior of house is being painted this week. The entire house, including crawl space and foundation was inspected and no further damage found. I take pride in my beach home and this events were unfortunate. I regret the stay for this guest was disrupted by such circumstances.
