The Penthouse of Kona Shores awaits you! This spacious and luxurious 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom corner condo is the crown jewel of Kona Shores, offering the largest living space at 1,000 sq ft. in the complex, it offers a level of exclusivity like no other.

From the moment you step through the front door, you’ll be greeted by a beautiful wood entry hall, leading you past a newly remodeled kitchen. The kitchen boasts a full-size refrigerator, gas stove, and pantry, as well as a coffee maker, microwave, toaster oven, and all the necessary dishes, pots, and pans to make cooking a breeze.


Just a step down from the kitchen, you'll enter a light-filled, open-concept living area, featuring a new queen size hide-a-bed couch and Roku TV to stream your favorite apps. Two large glass double sliding doors open to a wrap-around lanai, where you're treated to breathtaking views of lush palms, vibrant gardens, and a partial ocean view.


For your ultimate comfort, the unit is equipped with multi-zone, mini-split air conditioning, allowing you to adjust the temperature in each room independently. The best part? The air conditioning is ultra-quiet, maintaining a peaceful atmosphere while keeping you cool—whether you’re relaxing in the living area or enjoying the privacy of the bedrooms.

Glen is a retired business executive of biopharmaceutical companies. He has a pharmacy degree and an MBA. Growing up he participated in several sports and later focused on water-skiing, snorkeling, and back-packing. Glen was born in Santa Cruz, CA and attended college at UC Berkeley and UCSF. Glen earned his MBA at Harvard. Glen's most favorite vacations are to the family cabin in the Yosemite area and to Kona.

Jon, Glen's son, took a similar path, graduating from UC Davis with a degree in physiology. He started his career as a Biologist for Roche Bioscience. After earning a Master's degree in Biomedical Science and and MBA, Jon founded his own biopharmaceutical marketing strategy company, Life Science Strategy Group, LLC, in 2007. He shares the same passion for the outdoors as his father, spending much of his time with his wife and family in the Sierra Nevada mountains or in Kona.

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

Over the years Glen traveled to Hawaii many times, mainly Oahu, Maui, and Kauai with his wife Ginny. Glen has traveled to several Hawaii islands and has owned a time-share in Waikiki, a lovely condo at Poipu Beach in Kauai, and several vacation and long-term condos on the Big Island. His favorite place to visit became Hawaii for the sports (e.g., snorkeling), sites all over the island, variety of scenery, birds, and the fact that this island is still largely undiscovered by mass tourism.

Jon, having traveled to Kona with Glen and family numerous times since childhood has also fallen in love with the Big Island too. It's only natural that he is continuing on to help manage and maintain the family condo in Kona.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

Glen and Jon have stayed at Kona Shores annually since 1985 (now over 30 years). They love the privacy of the North wing of this complex. In 1998 the lovely northwest, first floor, corner unit became available. Glen had seen it while helping a renter fix screens. He was lucky enough to buy this unit. He loves the open, spacious, above it all, good partial ocean view impact of the unit and the very private location within the complex. (This unit was built by the original contractor for Kona Shores for himself; he also built the special corner unit below, reportedly for one of his relatives).
