The cabin was immaculate, well equipped, and in a lovely spot right next to the river. We also appreciated the helpful binder with information about the area and emergency services. Jayden was a fantastic host, with prompt replies, and we really enjoyed our stay.A couple of things to note: the cabin is next to a fairly busy road, so we heard dump trucks and UTVs throughout the day/all day. We also noticed a few maintenance issues, including broken glass surround on an exterior light, a cracked bedroom window, and some outlets without covers. Overall, though, we loved the cabin and had a great stay.

Every year we take a long weekend to celebrate our anniversary and so happens to fall on Memorial Day weekend. The property was perfect, watching and listening to the Loons on the lake, having a fire each night, being able to bring our fur girls with us was topping on the cake. The cabin is small, but intimate and perfect for two people. Jayden was so nice, responsive, and prompt with answering all our questions. We would love to stay again sometime!

Pros: The cottage was very clean and nicely updated, with beautiful waterfront views and a great little pier for fishing. It's pet friendly, and the host responded to messages fairly quickly.Cons: On check-in day, I hadn't received any check-in communication. When I messaged the host, I got a quick reply saying a welcome email would arrive at 11 a.m. and the door code at 2 p.m., which was completely reasonable. However, neither message ever came, and I only received the check-in information after reaching out again about 30 minutes before check-in.The cottage sits on a fairly busy highway with fast-moving traffic, so it isn't necessarily the quietest Northwoods spot, if that's what you're looking for.The window coverings could use some improvement. Many of them, including in the bathroom, are sheer curtains you can see through, especially at night, and the back door has no covering at all.Ladybugs were everywhere, though I'm sure that's a seasonal issue. When we arrived, there were at least 30 on the living room ceiling that we had to clear out before settling in.With all that said, overall it was a nice stay for the price.

What a gem! The Blue Bird Cottage is the kind of place that makes you slow down and settle in the moment. From the minute we walked in, it felt warm, welcoming, and wonderfully cozy.The kitchen was one of my favorite spaces it has this charming Midwestern French country feel that’s both rustic and inviting. And I have to mention the “Poop Deck” sign above the toilet. It caught me off guard and gave us a good laugh every time. It’s those little touches that make the cottage feel full of personality.The location is fantastic. Being so close to the brook meant we woke up to birdsong every morning, and the variety of birds was incredible. We spent hours watching wildlife, and the kayaking was outstanding. Peaceful water, beautiful scenery, and an easy launch made for a perfect day on the water.Even though we live only about 30 minutes away, staying here made us appreciate this area in a whole new way. It felt like a true getaway without traveling far.If you’re looking for a cozy Northwoods escape with thoughtful details, great kayaking, abundant wildlife, and plenty of charm, the Blue Bird Cottage is an easy five stars. We’d happily stay here again!
