Justo al otro lado de la playa en un complejo de baja densidad tranquila en el fraccionamiento de Playacar que no debe confundirse con Playacar II que se encuentra más lejos de la playa. Estamos a 5 minutos de tiendas y restaurantes. Esta unidad ha sido completamente remodelado y que conserva el carácter de la Región, la ubicación tropical pero añadiendo todas las comodidades y servicios modernos. Justo enfrente de la unidad, la playa está a sólo 50 pasos de distancia. Gran terraza en la parte trasera con vistas a la zona de la piscina y barbacoa. Envuelva alrededor de terraza en el lado del parque lado del Caribe y las ruinas mayas. En la planta baja con ninguna otra unidad con vistas a su espacio, que ofrece total privacidad, una ubicación perfecta y un espacio de lujo.

Great location

Fabulous location! Walking distance to everything.... town, beach, pool and golf! No car needed. Place has everything you need. Charming and clean. Great experience for adults and children. Highly recommended! Thanks for sharing this place with us again.

Perfectly located!

This property is as advertised with everything we needed for a very enjoyable stay. It is clean and exceptionally well located. Two minutes and you are in the Playacar beach; 5 minutes to all of downtown. Quiet at night, but steps to everything! We only had a few questions, but responses from Marie we’re fast and helpful. Highly recommend!

Perfect Location

Just home from 10 perfect days at Casa Sonrisas! Our family of 4, 2 adults and 2 teens visited over New Years. We have stayed in Playa del Carmen and Playacar multiple times but this location was perfect. Steps to a beautiful white sand beach and a couple short blocks from all the restaurants and night life you could want. Walking distance to large grocery stores too. Condo was larger than I expected. Beds were comfortable, bathrooms nicely renovated and pool area was peaceful. Our favorite feature was the large wrap around deck where we spent most of our home time. Owners were easily accessible by email and responded quickly when needed. Thank you Caren and Marie for a wonderful vacation! Hope to see you again.

Where to begin!? Marie was super helpful with pre-arrival info and was quick to allow us to drop off groceries and bags as soon as the previous renters were out. The house was spotless when we arrived. Tons of extra towels and sheets, beach towels. Kitchen has everything you need, including a bunch of spices, oil, and so on. Beds were super comfortable, AC was great for the occasional breeze-free day. Living space was everything you need: big TV, fast internet, well lit, comfortable couch, movies and books. Both bedrooms were special in their own ways. One opening onto a massive porch next to the pool with a full outdoor living room feel. The other opening onto the other massive porch overlooking the Mayan ruins and park with small views and sounds of the sea. We were with three kids under 5 and it was perfect. Marie dropped off a pack and play which we set up in the pool bedroom bathroom so the baby could nap while everyone else had fun. The two older kids each took a bed in the park facing room. Other notable perks: Three minute walk to the public access point to the beach, five minute walk to the start of 5th avenue shopping and dining. Perfectly maintained pool with both sun and shade, plenty of lounge chairs, a shallow end for kids. Four nice beach chairs and a really nice umbrella. Full-sized washer and dryer that both work great. Tons of parking if you have a car (which you really don't need unless your kids make you take them to the crocodile zoo twice in 10 days). Security guard booth just down the road with the same friendly faces every day, and frequent walk and drive bys of the area after dark. What a place! We'll be back!! Thanks Marie!

Great rental close to the beach

Spent a few nights here with our two young children and it was great. Short walk to both the beach and to restaurants, shops, etc. Would definitely stay there again the next time we visit Playa del Carmen.

Loved the location and condo

Marie is very kind and helpful and answered all of our questions. The condo was in an amazing location close to the beach ( my girls counted 100 large steps😉) and the little extras (pool toys and beach chairs) were a great treat. We walked everywhere and enjoyed our holiday. We will definitely recommend this condo to our friends. I gave it a 4 star rating as there, like all places, is always a few things that could be changed, such as the bed frame in the pool bedroom, it creaks every time you roll over and takes time to get use to it. But over all we enjoyed our 16 day stay.

Queridas Marie Y Caren - Muchas Gracias! We had a wonderful time at your place. It was the perfect location to be, in Playacar. We loved being so close to everything. Your tasteful fixtures, finishes, spaces, and systems make it incredibly easy to enjoy the setting and surroundings. We could not find good food, but we prepared a fantastic meal for ourselves and some guests. We entertained close friends on several occasions and quickly met others for an excursion to Cozumel. Perfecto! I'm sorry I broke one of the fine shot glasses. Thank you for the onsite discussion regarding the kitchen electricity. It is confusing. Clarity in the welcome packet about how to make it easier to have a hot shower would be great! Best VRBO ever! We are looking forward to returning! Until next time, Take Care! Pete and Gloria

Another great vacation at Casa Sonrisas!

This was our second stay here this year, we liked it so much the first time. This visit was with another couple and they were quite impressed with the accommodations as well. We find the location absolutely perfect for us. A few steps out and you are at the beach and not far from the shopping and people watching on 5th! We found the showers quite slippery on our first visit, so I brought some shower mats with suction cups I picked up at the dollar store and left them behind. The shower in the ensuite to the "pool" side bedroom does not have a great shower head, the other shower is far better. The water heater is an "on demand" type, so it may take time for it to get to you. Once it does you may need to adjust the cold to get it right for you. Waking early and having a coffee on the balcony overlooking the park with the ruins and all of the wildlife around is so amazing. There are a few cats around too. They sleep and sometimes hang out on the porch, they are friendly enough and don't bother you. The Siamese one did run into our condo a couple of times, all we did was say hello and he assumed that was his cue to go in! I cannot wait to return and Caren's is first on my list of places to check availability!

Fantastic Mexican getaway.

We loved our time at this property. Everything was exactly as stated. Here are some of our highlights. - Rooms have good air-conditioning and comfortable beds. - Very authentic traditional Mexican feel - We never turned the tv on, so can't say - Internet worked great -Location, location, location. You are just a minute from the famous 5th avenue. The Avenue is packed with great restaurants, shops, performers, etc. The restaurants are absolutely great and not tourist traps. However, the minute you walk off the Avenue and into Playacar, you are transported to a quiet oasis of tranquility. - the balconies and patio are great. My morning ritual was to sit on the balcony (ground level), read my paper, and watch the local cereques (cute rodent creatures) romp around. - The other room looks out over the Mayan ruins... awesome! - The beach can't be seen from the condo, but once you walk out the door, you can see it and walk there in 30 seconds. It is just 50 steps away. - Great kitchen and laundry -We rented a car and parking was very easy. We had originally thought we would stay somewhere more remote, but with my 20 years old son, we were happy he had so much to do at night. Favorite restaurants: Fisheria, Lima, Hija de la Tostada, and we did like Micaelas for Mexican. These are all on 5th avenue. -Best tacos... El Fogon on 30th. Don't miss it. Cozumel diving was amazing and the cenotes were great too. Cenotes: We liked Eden and Dos Ojos Only negative was the water pressure could be stronger in the shower. We highly recommend this place for your vacation. You will feel like you live in Mexico.

Beautiful - quiet - homey - lovely!!!

We had a wonderful stay at Caren’s place. A beautiful charming condo, so comfortable, lots of room, we felt right at home as soon as we walked in!! We really appreciated all the porch space. Lovely. The condo was very clean and tidy, kitchen well equipped! The location is fantastic…minutes to the beach and minutes to 5th. The area is so quiet at night, you would never know you at so close to 5th Ave. We will be back!!

Perfect place and location!

This condo is exactly as represented and we loved it! We were there for 2 full weeks with another couple. One thing you will rarely find in Mexico is comfortable beds--the beds here are VERY comfy! Bedrooms have A/C and they stay wonderfully cool after you turn off the A/C in the morning, by keeping the doors closed. The living area does get very hot. There are ceiling fans, and a portable oscillating room fan, which does help. The two large French doors open to the veranda, and are screened, but if it's super hot out, which is was, that just lets in more hot air. We prepared breakfasts and lunches each day in the condo, and ate dinner out. It's a short 3-min. walk to the beach and chairs, umbrella and boogie-boards are provided, as well as very nice beach towels. I'm glad I brought my own pillow, because the pillows in the condo aren't very good. One thing that is worth mentioning is that there is a condo owner (who doesn't live there but happened to be there when we were) who has a service dog (Lab) that is apparently allowed to go in the pool (and he lets it wander around off leash). When I first saw saw the dog go in the pool, I was shocked and argued with the man about it--how could this be allowed?? Apparently, it is. I brought it up with Caren, who brought it up with the president of the condo association, and they are looking into it. But in the meantime (or maybe forever?), know that the pool will be shared by a dog. It was quite upsetting to me. We would definitely stay here again--even if the dog situation doesn't change. Caren was very attentive to our needs and requests and is a lovely lady.

Home away from home

This was our fourth stay a Casa Sonrisa. Two weeks of sheer bliss. This is a very comfortable and well equipped condo. Bright airy and pretty much carefree. Across the street from the beach and a few minutes walk from town. The pool is great and was basically ours. This is a lovely place. This is not so much luxury but comfort, very spacious and very quiet. Perfect place to chill, both the front and rear outdoor spaces are very large and well equipped and did I mention quiet. If you like beach, pool, BBQ, books, wine, chilling and just vegging out this is the spot. Trust me on this one, been here done it.

Ideal Location and Excellent Accommodations

We just returned from a one week stay in Casa Sonrisa and are already considering booking again for an upcoming trip. I was a little nervous about getting in as the owner forgot to send an access code for the lockbox in case the code for the front door did not work, but the code did work. The condo is in a perfect location for beach access and for walking to town for dinner and sightseeing. The "park" side bedroom, which can be 2 single beds or combined for a king, has the most comfortable bed(s). It also has access to the main bathroom. The "pool" side bedroom is the master room with a king size bed and ensuite bathroom. It has a large patio with tables and chairs for 6 people and a bbq. You can access the pool area from the patio. There is also a large porch with seating for 6 to 8 at the front/side of the condo facing the park. It is very private and quiet with lots of wildlife. You can also access the porch from the "park" side bedroom directly. The kitchen is fully stocked and functional with a gas stovetop, huge fridge and convection/toaster oven. The Christmas Tree set up in the entrance/living room area was a real nice touch. The only negative thing I would have to say about this condo is the couch in the living room is the most uncomfortable couch ever. It is not a deal breaker as not much time was really spent in there. If you are looking for an amazing Italian dinner, do not miss Romeo on Calle 4 between Ave 10 and 15. Very reasonably priced for incredible food. You may need to go by and make a reservation as they get really busy and it is a small restaurant.

A dream vacation!

I cannot say enough of this condo. Put it simply, it was awesome! My husband and I rented this condo for 25 days with our two boys (respectively 15 and 9 years of age) and spent Christmas and New Year's there. Absolutely fabulous! The unit was exactly as described by the owner Caren. The pool is amazing and most times we had it all to ourselves. You absolutely do not need a car as everything is well within walking distance. 5th avenue is awesome but don't be afraid to step away from it and experience various areas of Playa Del Carmen. The carribean sea...simply breathtaking. Caren, my family and I cannot thank you enough for making our stay truly memorable. We would come back in a heartbeat. This was an outstanding condo!

Paradise!

We got back a couple of weeks ago from this "Place in Paradise"! It had everything that we were looking for. The ocean is just steps away, pool right out of the door and very quiet. We walked to 5th Avenue area every night. Great times! We will be looking forward to our return visit next year! We vacationed here for 10 days. I cannot say enough good things about this condo. It had everything we needed and more, is in the perfect location and we loved it!! Already booked for our next vacation. Yes we had issues with the AC but we survived. Love Love it!!

Buyer be aware

The unit is below average. The TV did not work. The carrier had terminated the service for non-payment. The A/C is in the bedrooms ONLY. The kitchen is well appointed. The beach is nearby, but it is overrun by kelp and seaweed and consequently sea lice. The owner/manager's name is Caren Ore. She is by far the worst person I have ever done business. She is attentive until she has your money, then she disappears and if you don't make it extremely unpleasant for her you will loose your money and find yourself without a place to stay. I had to call Becky at Maui Leasing to get Caren to respond. You will be given an Atlanta phone number, but she really lives in Mexico. Unfortunately this site does not let me post Caren's real numbers. You will have no legal recourse, should you have to pursue it. Oh yes, trying to get my deposit back was an ordeal. After waiting endlessly it took another call to Becky. BTW, Caren hates to have you call Becky. Caren is either the most incompetent business person I have dealt with, or just plain insensitive, or a crook Forewarned is forearmed.

Lovely Condo

Just returned from a 2 week stay in this condo and highly reccommend it. It is an open, breezy, private place across the street from the beach and a couple of minutes from 5th. It is very nicely appointed, elegant but still kinda barefoot. Excellent outdoor spaces with a large balcony both in the front and the back. The kitchen has everything you need, even nice wine glasses! Our stay was not without problems but I attibute them to growing pains as this is a newly renonvated condo. I must say that the problems encountered were dealt with by the owner swiftly and effectively. We will not hesitate to return to this condo in the future. Give Sammy the cat a pet for me!

This is an amazing location. It has it all. As such we have received continual 5 stars from past guests, the same as our other property. This low-density complex (only 11 units) with a beautiful large pool is located in the only gated residential area in Playa del Carmen, on the same beach as all the best hotels. Set in a quiet tropical setting with authentic Mayan ruins where you may even see deer yet just 5 minutes walk to 5th avenida with its shops and restaurants, walking distance to the main Playa bus station and the Ferry to Cozumel. And even better cross the road and you are on the best beach on the Caribbean.
