Writer's Cove: el Capítulo 2 está ubicado en un entorno boscoso a solo tres cuadras de la playa de Douglas. Cute little gem close to Douglas Beach

Great little duplex within walking distance of Douglas Beach. Close to the Douglas Root Beer Barrel, Oval Beach, and downtown Douglas and Saugatuck. Very peaceful and quiet neighborhood. Dog friendly home and street. Nice front yard and patio with lots of native landscape and wildlife (multiple deer sightings throughout the day). All you need to do is bring your clothes and personal belongings. Home owner has everything you need for a nice relaxing getaway. Great place to stay for couples and/or small families.

A Perfect Family Getaway

We loved our stay at this cozy cottage in Douglas. The location is ideal. It's walkable to the beach, as well as a fantastic coffee shop and ice cream/hot dog stand, and it's just a short drive to downtown Saugatuck. The cottage itself was also great - comfortable, clean and well-stocked with a great backyard space.

Great Douglas Summer House

This cute house is just a short walk from Douglas Beach, making it easy to visit and not have to worry about parking! Close to everything in Douglas and Saugatuck without being directly downtown. We saw deer everyday and was a perfect summer getaway

The best!

This little house is perfect. It has a short walk to the beach. I have a 7 and 9 year old and we probably made that walk to the beach 15 times in a week and they never complained once. This short walk is crucial because there is rarely parking available at Douglas Beach.

Great Family Spot in Quiet Neighborhood

First, the location is great. The home is nestled in a quite neighborhood but w/in a very short walk of Douglas Beach. At the same time, if you want to explore Saugatuck and the other area beaches, you are minutes away. Jackie is a considerate hostess and the place is really well-stocked with the essentials and some great extras. The deck is very nice as is the entire backyard area. We were very active during our visit and primarily used the home for dinner and sleeping and it was perfect for our needs but would've been great had we spent more time there as well.

Great Setting, Great Property, Great Stay!

Western MI surprises with a tropical vibe in the Midwest! Relaxing, quiet neighborhood with easy access to a beautiful small beach w/stellar sunsets! Close to gorgeous Saugatuck Dunes State Park, more beaches & quaint towns on the water. Cottage was exactly as listed & stocked well for a traveling family. Backyard was spacious and cottage was a good size for a family of 4 with teenagers. Great kitchen options - nice hot water (& bathtub!) and the washer & dryer were a great help! Host has is all right!

Walk to the beach!

Loved the location, easy to walk to the beach and quick drive to town. We come to the area a few times a year and first time we stayed in Douglas. Home was cute and a perfect size for my family and pup. Owner was very prompt with questions and answering them. Not to the fault of the owner, there must have been a little animal stuck in/near property as which flared our allergies, she was very apologetic. The kids just needed to sleep in the living room. I did love the home and area.

Lovely spot in Douglas

We had a nice stay! The beds were comfortable. The kids loved sleeping on the convertible couch and having AC helped in the warm summer. We were able to walk to Douglas Beach park which was beautiful for sunset. It is more rocky in the water so we ended up on a short drive to Opal Beach ($15 for the day with in and out privileges, bathrooms, snack shop) which was easier on the feet when swimming. At the house we saw deer on our walks and even right behind the property! We utilized the fire pit one night but didn't get a chance to use the outdoor grill. I would stay again going back to Douglas.

Well kept house in great location

The house was very clean and had everything we needed. The backyard had some woods which made it feel more private, and the deer were always present (and love apples!) The neighborhood was beautiful and a short walk to the beach as described (10 mins for my family with an 8 and 3 year old). We really enjoyed being able to walk/bike to the Woosah Outside Coffee shop at the top of the hill. One thing we couldn’t figure out is the smoke detector went off multiple times while cooking in the kitchen when it wasn’t smoky at all and we even had the windows open. We would definitely return to this property and neighborhood!

Charming spot

Cuter even than the pictures! My husband and I and our 16 year old spent Labor Day weekend here and wished we could have stayed longer. The unit is spotless, comfortable and well equipped, inside and on the lovely patio. Easy access to Douglas Park beach on foot if you aren’t carrying tons, and a quick drive to Oval Beach, downtown Douglas or Saugatuck. We had both sun and rain so we tried all of the above. Jackie was so helpful and responsive and a pleasure to deal with. We Would love to come back.

Excellent location and communicative owner

We really enjoyed working with Jackie- she was helpful the whole time. The location is perfect- walk to the Douglas beach and drive to store, root beer and outdoor coffee. The bedrooms were as pictured. however, the couch would not make a comfortable sleeping option as listed as an option. The cottage was not as clean as we had hoped and there were not many cleaning items in the property to clean it ourselves. The bath needs some new faucet handles.

Douglas Cottage

We rented the property in mid-August 2021. The property is in a great location - less than a 10 minute drive to Oval Beach and Douglas Beach is in walking distance (but we didn't visit that beach, we stuck to Oval Beach). Close to downtown Saugatuck and Douglas. Check in process was easy and the property manager responded to email questions quickly, although we did not contact anyone during our stay. The cottage is attached to another unit, which wasn't clear from the pictures we saw, but not that big of a deal as there was no noise that we could hear from the adjoining cottage. We were surprised when we pulled up because the pictures made it appear to be a stand alone property. The interior was relatively clean, but we noticed several areas that were not (old food under microwave, grime in cabinet under kitchen sink, white stains on the couch). We didn't use some of the bedding because it appeared dirty and one of the comforters was held together with safety pins. Overall, we had a wonderful time in Douglas and loved the location of the cottage.

Great experience for Fall Vacation

This house was a great place to spend a long weekend with our dogs. The house is comfortable and well-equipped. We enjoyed its proximity to various beaches and scenic walks. Would come again!
