We had a fantastic time staying here. Even hunkering down during the nor'easter! Wonderful space for our family. FULLY stocked kitchen supplies. The pier access was PERFECT for our fun loving fishing family.

Beautiful Spot. Thw reviews were right about those sunsets, Incredible! it was a great space for our large group. Needed a few more comfy chairs in the living room area for our family of 11. Well equipped kitchen and all the bathrooms were a major bonus!

Wind dreamin was the perfect house for our extended family! It easily housed 6 adults and 3 children. Plenty of space to spread out and do your own thing, but a big family table and deck for dinners and games. We appreciated the downstair accessible rooms that handled our older family members. This is a keeper on our return list.

We had an amazing trip, thanks to the place. We have a party of 12 and the house had enough for everyone to chill and hangout together in the living area without inconveniencing anyone. The hotub was amazing and is now a core memory! The sun sunset on the property is to did for. Overall, had a great experience!

What a fantastic vacation home! The listing photos don’t do it justice. Perfect for kids and adults/elderly alike! And the sunsets are UNREAL!!!The owners, Deb and Dave, were super responsive and helpful. We will definitely be back!

This lovely home away from home is a perfect getaway on the sound side. The home was very clean and organized. The view is fantastic. Take use of everything it has to offer. The host was always available to answer any questions I had. We stayed for a week and wish we could I love have stayed longer. It was very peaceful. We spent more time out than in, but made great use of that kitchen for fun family dinners. The beds were very comfy too.

Overall my family guests and I had a great time overlooking the placid waters on the Sound side (my fav) and saw 2 wonderful sunsets ! We enjoyed eating our casual suppers outside on the deck enjoying the spectacular views! using the Kayaks was a simple walk-out to the water ! the one major glitch was the maid service had forgotten to come by and clean after the previous guests had left and that was disappointing but I reached out and Deborah got back to me and arranged a STAT cleaning to be performed that got everything ship shape after we got back from eating out! The internet was great! it was so hot this time of year that we didn't get to utilize the Hot Tub! Alas--another trip!

Beautiful location. Kids loved sunsets in the hot tub and fishing off the dock. Also loved coffee in the shade off the deck in the morning.

Really enjoyed small town feel south of Nags head. Amazing view and water access. Would definitely stay here again. Kids loved the kayaks

We needed handicap accessibility and this was the perfect home for us. From the drive-up, to the open layout and spacious bathroom, it was so great for our family. You’ll need your own trash bags and dish washing detergent though. We loved sitting on the edge of the dock to watch the gorgeous sunsets on the Sound.

Great house in a great location!

Our family really enjoyed our stay in Salvo. Close enough to everything you need. You can walk for ice cream, a convenience store and the beach. Plenty of room for privacy in this home as well. I would recommend!

Gorgeous Scenery

We loved our stay!!! The outdoors were just perfect!!! The beach access was very close and we were able to spend so much time soaking up the OBX sun. There are some updates needed at the house including the outdoor grill and kitchen supplies that are typical with VRBO (trash bags, towels, etc). The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was equipped with serveware and flatware. The hot tub was nice but the wood was extremely slippery when getting out. Overall, our stay was great and we are so appreciative to have had a comfortable place to come home to after long days out in OBX.

July 2023

Our multigenerational party of 10 had a great time on this vacation. We were pleasantly surprised to find a gas grill instead of the charcoal that was in the description. Everything else was as listed. House is in a great location with beautiful views, water access of the sound and only 7min walk to the ocean side.

Excellent experience

The house is advertised as the best handicapped house in the OBX. We concur this is absolutely correct. The ramp up to the main living floor was very convenient for unloading your vehicle. Everything on the main living floor was accessible including the dock. The location is next to Hatteras Watersports where jet skis and kayaks were available for rent - very convenient! The owners were very responsive to any needs/concerns. For sure, the house rates a 5 star! We look forward to going back!

Great week at the beach

Large multi-generational group. Fantastic house for the group - we rented kayaks for the week and enjoyed most of our time on the porch. Fishing from the dock and from kayaks was enjoyed - not much caught but a few were caught and released. We loved watching the paddleboarders and the jet skiers. The sunsets were glorious and the people who had to do the beach were easily dropped off and picked up from the access point. We did end up renting 3 coolers to hold all the drinks so we could keep the fridge for food. We also rented a large rectangular table to put the snacks out.

Great wheelchair accessible house!

My family has been coming to OBX for almost 20 years. We usually stay in Avon oceanside. This year my step dad lost his leg and is in a wheelchair which was a game changer. This trip was a lot of "new" for us, but this house was perfect. The sound access and deck made it easy to kayak, fish, crab. The hosts are very responsive, even called me when I booked to answer questions and tell me about Salvo, the house and things to do in the area. When we arrived and had a few questions, they again were very quick to respond. Highly recommend this rental for anyone with disability. The ramp to the main level made everyone's unloading convenient!

Great for our group

Right on the sound side, with two piers, one for fishing and one to use to launch a kayak or two. We stayed a wonderful week between two hurricanes (Gorden and Helene). The house fit us well as we had three mobility impaired folks. With the wooden ramp to the first floor plus two roll-in showers on the first floor along with two bedrooms it was ideal. Only two minor issues, one of the 5 toilets was out of order and required a part and many of the dishes, pots and pans were not well cleaned by the folks that preceeded us - dish cleaning is the responsibility of the house guests. The dishwasher worked great, as did all the other appliances and hot tub. We never used the propane grill but it looked to be ready for action. We enjoyed the sunset and the sun-rises as first light casted a marvelous pink glow over the sky and reflected on the waters of the sound.

Best Beach House I've stayed at! Great Location!

There are so many things about this rental property that I love and I don't feel the pictures do it justice. There is a dock attached to the house so you can walk out anytime to watch kite boarders, go fishing, or just watch the beautiful sunset. The view is just amazing! There is a table and benches at the end of the dock so we even enjoyed a beautiful dinner outside. The property next door has a bunch of water sport rentals so you can go jet skiing, paddle boarding, kite boarding, etc. There's so much to do. I only wish I stayed longer than 1 week. One of the best things about this house is it is very family friendly. Having an infant, we are limited on what we can do on vacation. What was great was being able to go to the hot tub or kite boarding while my baby napped. There was always someone near the house to listen for the baby. The beach was such a short walk and my 12 month old loved the beach. I will definitely be returning to this house again!

Awesome home away from home!

Our stay at Wind Dreamin' was our first VRBO experience, and this sound-front home did not disappoint. The property was just beautiful with a wonderful private feeling, and it offered a view of Pamlico Sound that was awesome. We saw an otter regularly, several species of sea birds, and deer. My grandchildren were able to comfortably walk at the water's edge and play. A short walk from the property was the gorgeous seashore where dolphins were swimming. The view from inside the home was equally extraordinary, and the sunsets were spectacular. The open concept common area allowed our family to be close while preparing and having meals. The handicap accessible bathrooms and bedrooms on the lower floor were perfect for my mom's needs. Upstairs each of the three bedrooms had an awesome view of the sound. Sliding doors in each offered access to the upper deck. The accommodations were comfortable and ample for many sleeping arrangements. Overall the home was clean, comfortable, and well appointed. We spent a week enjoying everything it had to offer. We felt really at home, and that was an awesome thing to experience during our family vacation. Definitely our family wants to make Wind Dreamin' our home away from home again. Thank you, owners, for sharing your home with us!

Dirty and needs repairs

Good things - LOVED being on the sound. Beautiful sunsets on the deck and a quick walk to the surf. The layout of the house was ideal. Enough space for all of us with the main floor being an open floor plan. The bedrooms were all large. Perfect spot on the sound for my kids to hang out and swim. Bad things - Dirty. When I came in I had to wipe down all the countertops as they had crumbs. Also had to wash a bedspread and the blanket on the couch as they were visibly dirty and smelled. Also bought Fabreeze to try to get the smell out of the rest of the house. Found a live cockroach in the kitchen. The kitchen also had ants. I emailed the property owner who said to buy roach spray. Not my responsibility. The slider to the deck was EXTREMELY hard to open. My 12-year-old couldn’t open it. Also emailed the property owner who said she couldn’t do anything as the slider is heavy for hurricanes….. but we’ve stayed in multiple houses on the ocean with sliders and have never had this problem. The door needs to be replaced - then the problem would be fixed. The bathrooms are all outdated (which I don’t really care) but some renters may care. Yellow stains on the ceilings can be found throughout the house, mold on the floor under some of the windows, laminate and cabinets in the bathrooms bubbled up or peeling in places. It’s a rental and it looks like one. So…. If you’re a clean person, pick somewhere else.

Dirty, dated, disappointing. Buyer beware!

When we walked in, we found dust, dirt, and scum everywhere in this house. Floors, windows, furniture, bedrooms, and kitchen were dirty. My wife spent the first 3 hours we were there cleaning the kitchen, just so we could feel safe to use the dishes and silverware for eating. The kitchen counters were sticky and dirty. The cleaning fee was definitely a rip off or they should fire the cleaning company. My feeling is that this place is cleaned once a month at the most. The couches were dirty and stained. Covered with hair and had food remnants under them. Another example of a lazy cleaning job. You could see the floor was swept around the couch, but not under it. The bedrooms were not much better. My daughter’s bed had hair on it. The laundry closet was dirty and had animal fecal matter on the floor. It was either mouse or rat poop, which gave us an even worse feeling of staying there. The bedroom my wife and I stayed in was on the other side of laundry room wall. On a couple of mornings, we woke up to the sound of an animal or rodent trying to loudly scratch through the wall. We did not call the owner during our stay as I don’t know how they would have been able to fix all the things that we found without us moving back out and ruining our 4 night vacation. It should have been cleaned before we arrived. If this was the example of their cleaning service before we arrived, what would have been the point of calling to complain. No, I would not stay here again.
