The apartment had everything we needed. The owners were extremely accommodating. Everything was as stated in the property details. Had the pool and beach all to ourselves. Can't wait to go back!

Berwind spring break stay

Good home-base location for exploring the north & eastern side of the island. Very quiet community, far enough away from crowds but still an easy 10 minute drive to groceries, etc. Unfortunately the onsite beach was not swimmable due to rip currents and the onsite pool was unusable/closed due to some sort of leak issue. Maruxa was an excellent host and very easy to communicate with. She even graciously offered us a day pass to a nearby resort pool since Berwind's in out of order but we were unable to make back from Old San Juan in time to make in time to beat the rain and use it that day. We spent the majority of our week driving down to and exploring the beaches & activities around Fajardo. There is no dishwasher, which was fine for us, but some may wish to know in advance. Will definately be back to explore more of Puerto Rico .

Great location and great communication from the owner.

The beach behind the property was amazing and completely private. The rooms were well kept and very clean. Anything we needed for our stay was provided and the owner kept up with great communication before, during, and even after the trip. I highly recommend staying here when you visit this beautiful island.

Nice condo and location

This was a good condo for ourselves and another couple while we visited PR. We appreciated the 24/7 friendly security employees, we loved the sites sounds of the crashing waves. We explored Old San Juan and El Morro (old fort), and spent a day at El Yunque Rainforest and Luquillo beach. Maruxa fortunately mentioned that we needed tickets for the rain forest. They currently release a number of them each day at 8am and 11 am for the following day. $2 per carload! Old San Juan is beautiful, we went inside the beautiful Cathedral of San Juan Bautista, walked around Pigeon park, and had a nice lunch (tip:park in the parking garage and walk around on foot). El Morro fort is the largest fort we have ever seen! The condo had everything we needed for our visit.

Beautiful spot in a great location

This was a great place and location! We made trips to Old San Juan, El Yunque, Luquillo, and Fardo and they were all easy and quick to get to. The condo was great! Well stocked with every you can need for a great vacation. Spacious with a nice quiet beach, and pool! Maruxa was a great host, quick to respond to all my questions and offered great suggestions for things for us to do. It was our first trip to Puerto Rico and we can't wait to get back!

Peaceful, palm-lined beach

We landed in Puerto Rico during an island-wide blackout on April 8, 2022. Our host, Maruxa, contacted me immediately to let me know that the condo had no electricity. We chose to drive to the condo anyway in the hope that the electricity would soon be restored. Maruxa and Jose really bent over backwards to be as accommodating as possible (bringing over supplies, flashlights, coolers of ice, etc.) while also making it clear they would give us a full refund if we decided to leave. Our gamble paid off and the electricity was back on before it got dark. We were rewarded with a condo in a fabulous location, very central to all of the things we wanted to do: visit Old San Juan, zipline at Toro Verde Adventure Park, eat in Luquillo, scuba dive in Fajardo, and hike in El Yunque, to name a few. And the condo is right on a gorgeous stretch of palm-lined beach that we practically had all to ourselves. A little bit of summer storm action kicked the surf up a bit, but I suspect it’s normally pretty calm. If you want some local action, there’s a nice beach restaurant within walking distance to the west (Villa Pesquera Herrera de Loiza Restaurante Cultural). To the east, there’s a long long stretch of undeveloped land before you eventually reach a large resort, the St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort. You could eat dinner there if you want (we didn’t) and Jose indicated that he could also set it up so we could use their facilities. Aside from the beach restaurant and the St. Regis resort, you are not really within walking distance of anything, which we preferred because it felt safe. It’s not a far drive to get to stores and restaurants. We got some excellent grilled meat (and bought waaay too much) at El Verde BBQ. Overall, this condo is a quiet place in a beautiful setting. Maruxa and Jose are gracious and communicative hosts. I highly recommend.

a true paradise

This property was beautiful. Albeit hard to find, it was worth the confusion in the beginning. We needed a quiet relaxing vacation and that is exactly what we got. Not only can see the ocean from your room, you actually fall asleep to the crashing waves! The place was super clean, and the complex was quiet and often we had the beach entirely to ourselves. The provided beach chairs were a plus, and actually so was the washer & dryer (we could pack light!!). It was close enough to everything but far enough away to be quiet and peaceful. I recommend renting a car, as it is easier to go out to eat or get to el yunque. It’s not really in walking distance of anything. I truly think this stay would be perfect for any type of traveler. It was only my dad and I, but the apartment can have up to 6 people. The host was very kind in responding to all of my questions and responded quickly in both Spanish and English. They even left a few Medallas to start off the trip!! Amazing stay, thank you Maruxa!! Hope to return soon!!

Private Beach Close to Everything

Steps from gorgeous almost private beach, 1 block from nice restaurant/bar on ocean and close to El Junque, Fajardo and a couple of the nicest golf courses on the island, St Regis golf was incredible! Maruxa/Jose we’re excellent hosts, communication and friendliness were great, the place was clean and nice and spacious and the beach resort was well kept and secure. Balcony and Master had beautiful views of the ocean, and we enjoyed the fresh ocean breezes and bright space of the condo, loved having the 3 bathrooms too. Overall excellent find for Rio Grande area - would definitely stay again!

Ideal almost private beach with 82 degrees everyday

We had a family vacation with 7 people. One 12 year old and one 9 year old. Neither was bored as their was lots of things to do over 9 days. Catching 26 pound Maui Mahi made the vacation perfect for my grandson.The zip line on the forest was the high point for my grad daughter. Highway 3 is nearby with a short drive and has access to restaurants, grocery store, and other stores. A row of restaurants called the Kiosks is about a half mile of small restaurants that have all types of Puerto Rican food. Puerto Rican food is excellent and not spicy for Minnesotans. The grand kids enjoyed holding two lobsters that ended up as part of dinner. The marinated skirt steak, Churasco, was very good. The choice of good steaks, pork and chicken was nice surprise. We also found upscale dining at the Hyatt Regency which was nearby for a birthday celebration. L . Getting by with English only was easy. San Juan was less than an hour away. The illuminescent kayak tour was fascinating for my daughters family. We did not have time for horse or ATV rides in the forest, but the were available. The rental apartment is secure with a guard at the gate. We felt secure on the entire vacation in the apartment area or elsewhere. The apartment was a fantastic operation base with two cars for everyone to have choices of activities. Having a beach to ourselves was unique as all other vacations with beaches were quite croweded. There were plenty of golf courses , but we wanted to do things we cannot do at home. Puerto Rico is a great value for vacations with great wether and beaches. I plan to return..

Relaxing atmosphere!!

I loved been able to walk to the pool and the beach. It is awesome to listen to the waves crashing on the beach. I also loved that the apartment is the last building and you have a beautiful view of the ocean.

Lovely stay, steps from the beach!

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Maruxa and Jose’s property. Their apartment is just steps from a gorgeous and secluded beach, and a great swimming pool, both of which we used every day of our vacation. We also appreciated the spaciousness of the 3-bedroom apartment, and the great washer and dryer, as we were traveling with our young son. Maruxa and Jose couldn’t have been friendlier or more welcoming! Knowing that we were traveling with a toddler, they stocked the fridge with milk and other staples before we arrived, sent us restaurant recommendations for the area, and overall made our stay incredibly enjoyable!

Perfect time of year to visit! We had a mile of beach all to ourselves! We loved it!

The property was very clean and nicely furnished. Plenty of supplies, towels and sheets. With three bathrooms, we were not in each other's way. The wi-fi was a hit, but it didn't beat being steps away from the beach! Beautiful place to getaway from it all. Thank you.

Beautiful Beach!

Maruxa was an excellent host! She replied quickly to all questions and even dropped off the keys at our work location so we could get in as soon as possible. The condo was very neat and clean and large! All three bedrooms were of good size - the master is huge. And all three bathrooms were clean. This is not a fancy or luxury condo. But if you are looking for a large beach condo with a balcony and access to a beautiful beach- this is a great place!

Fantastic location, well-kept property, all the amenities included!

My husband and I took 2 of our children on a spring break vacation and couldn't have picked a better place! Beautiful and clean large 3 bedroom, 3 full bath with washer/dryer and fully stocked kitchen. I can't say we were lacking anything! Maruxa was extremely accommodating to all of our needs - our flight didn't leave until very late in the evening and we were able to stay beyond the usual check-out. The quiet community was gated and literally steps away from the water. Even though the weather didn't cooperate as much as we had hoped, there was still plenty to keep us busy - a day in the rain forest rappelling, hiking, zip-lining, exploring El Yunque, and minutes from shopping as well as a relatively short drive to Old San Juan and other numerous beaches/bays. Thank you again, Maruxa!

Wonderful location!!!

Having never rented through this site I was a little skeptical going in. The apartment was all it said it was and more. The beach was very private and spectacular. Plenty of room for my family and inlaws. Maxura was very accommodating and checked in with us to make sure our stay was pleasant. I would return in a heartbeat!

Love the location, especially at a great price

To be honest, the picture of palm trees provided by the owner don't do justice to the beauty of the beach that this property backs up to. We arrived at the property and were greeted by a cool ocean breeze and a fabulous view of the ocean. The water was blue and beautiful green, and there's miles of soft sand beaches in either direction. There's nothing like beginning the day watching the sun rise over the water or ending a day of excursions relaxing on the sand. The property itself is great for the price. Three bedrooms, all with queen beds (which was hard to find!) and bathrooms. I think all the rooms had TVs, but we didn't use them. And the rooms had air conditioning units, which my wife and I loved for a comfortable sleep. The front room was great for hanging out, with a balcony looking over the water. There are some quirks, that for our group did not detract from the experience, but are worth noting. The hot water was a little unreliable - a shower might be hot and then switch to cool for a bit before getting hot again. And even though the pool has a jaccuzzi-type thing, they don't heat it. I really would have appreciated that to relax in after a day of excursions. And the resort management should invest in some paint as the sea air beats up the paint on the buildings. But we would absolutely come back here again. The owners are super-helpful and the location and facilities are great. The location was convenient - between San Juan and Fajardo (we took the ferry to Culebra Island), and near El Yunque. We explored them all and had a great time. Loved it! Thanks to the owners for helping us have a truly memorable Puerto Rican vacation!

Quiet and relaxing!

We stayed at this property in early February 2017. We were four adults and one toddler. The apartment was very easy to find using the directions provided by Maruxa. The apartment was very clean on our arrival with many amenities available to us. The bedrooms are good sizes and was more than enough room for us. The only two things I would have changed is that the hot water supply was not that great, but we never had cold showers, just Luke warm at times. And although the apartment had many towels, there was only one tea towel for the kitchen. Really, neither of these things bothered us at all, in fact I did not feel the need to contact the owners about the hot water at all. Our toddler really enjoyed the toys that were available in the apartment and for the beach. The complex was very quiet during our stay. The days we spent on the beach were spent alone, with maybe one or two walkers passing by. We only shared the pool on a couple of occasions with one or two others. You cannot bring food or drinks into the pool area which is slightly annoying, though a very understandable rule. We had one very windy day, but most days kept us in a nice Caribbean breeze to beat the heat. We had a car and drove to get supplies at Ralph's which is just about a 7-8 minute drive. We also ate at Don Pepes, El Verde BBQ, and at the Wyndham resort. You are very close to San Juan for day trips. We also ventured to the peak of el yunque one day. The complex where this apartment is located is very well kept. There is also visible security and remote controlled entry gates at the front. Overall, this apartment is great for families. It has everything you might need. If you are looking for a more festive atmosphere, this is not the place for you. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return without hesitation. Maruxa was very easy to contact and answered texts and emails promptly.

Perfect place to stay in PR

My family of 5 (2 adults and 3 children - ages 13, 10, and 3) had a wonderful time at the condo. It was fully equipped and everyone really loved having their own space. My 13 year old daughter was so pleased to have her own room and bathroom. The condo was very clean and everything we could've wanted. Maruxa was super helpful and very easy to interact with. She wanted us to have a great stay and so she offered to be available to us via text message should we need anything. We really enjoyed being just a few steps to the ocean. When we were there, the beach was almost completely empty every day. It was as if we had almost a mile stretch of sand and ocean all to ourselves. The waves were big enough for my 10 year old to have a blast body boarding, but gentle enough for my 3 year old to have fun too. It's in the perfect location to go to El Yunque, Old San Juan, and Fajardo for a sailing/snorkeling adventure. Close to everything like Walmart and Walgreens (and even Burger King), but is also off the beaten path and not in town. We would love the opportunity to stay here again and would recommend this property to all of our friends and families. Thank you for an unforgettable week!

Very good Family Condo... Perfect for a beach vacation

This is a perfect place for a family vacation with kids who would love to be on the beach all the time. The beach is just a walk away and has a direct gated entrance to the community. Location - Perfect right on the beach. Rooms - 2 Rooms were quiet spacious and the 3rd one was a bit small but still manageable. Kitchen - Perfect, could not ask for more. Just missing a Dish washer but has all other things required in a kitchen. I would say it was fully fully equipped. Overall the house has everything you would need on a vacation like beach towels, umbrella, chairs, boogie boards etc etc... We enjoyed the barbecue grill as well. The washer dryer were new and had a detergent along with. Most important... the house has toys hidden all over for your younger ones to keep them busy. The owner was kind enough to stock some basic grocery before we arrived & the wifi also was perfect. In short if anyone of my known visits PR..this is the apartment they'll be staying at. Perfect for family.

You definitely won't have any regrets with renting this apartment. Beautiful convenient location. The beach is right in front of the complex with a private gate. Absolutely breathtaking and relaxing. The apartment itself was clean and comfortable. With 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms each of our kids had their own, and there was plenty of room for our family of 4. The full kitchen allows for preparing meals if desired. We had breakfast in the apartment every morning, but wanted to experience the local food stands and restaurants for our other meals. There are air conditioners in all the bedrooms as well as the common space if you want it cooler. We were comfortable at night with just the windows open - that way we could listen to the waves crashing. The balcony and master bedroom don't directly face the ocean, but it's just a slight turn to the right to see and enjoy it. We absolutely loved being able to take long walks down the beach in the morning and evening. We're not fancy/luxury people, so it was perfect for us. If you want a 4-star hotel experience, pay for and stay in a 4-star hotel. If, like us, you want a nice, affordable, roomy, comfortable place for family, they don't come much more perfect than this. This part of Puerto Rico does face into the tradewinds, so it is breezy alot of the time. There are almost always waves on the beach also. There are other protected beaches within close driving distance if calm water is desired. We were there over Easter weekend, which seems to be a big celebration time locally. Most local stores and restaurants were closed on Friday and Sunday - even Walmart and the grocery store. The complex was very busy over the weekend, but I think that maybe was unusual because of the holiday. Monday it cleared out and there were very few people left around. There is an open-air restaurant and bar just up the road about 400 yards to the west (past the tennis courts) that had good food within walking distance. Sunday night is Karaoke night! It's a very short drive into Rio Grande for grocery store, restaurants. Luquillo is just a few minutes down the road from there, as is the rain forest. San Juan is within half an hour. All in all a perfect location. I have this listing bookmarked, so if we ever find an opportunity to travel back to PR, it will be the first place I check for availability. If you're looking for more than just a hotel room, and want to be next to the beach, this place is perfect. Can I give it 6 stars?

Perfect Family Condo

The Berwind Beach Resort was the perfect place for our family of four. This condo has three good size bedrooms. Each with its own bathroom! The condo was clean, safe, well maintained, all appliances were in good working order, plenty of sheets and towels, beach chairs, boogie boards, surfboard, and a cooler. There is a nice view of the ocean from the balcony. The beach is absolutely gorgeous! You can walk miles in either direction which we did everyday. The pool was really nice too! Jose and Maruxa were always available by phone or text to answer questions and give recommendations for restaurants, grocery stores, and attractions. We rented a car at the airport which is a short 30 minute drive to the condo. The condo is also close to the El Yunque rainforest where we enjoyed a easy hike to La Mina waterfall. We also drove 45 minutes to Fajardo and took the ferry ride to the island of Culebra which is amazing! Flamenco Beach on Culebra is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. On our way back to the condo from Fajardo, we stopped in Luquillo for dinner which was fun because there are so many restaurants to chose from. Our last night was spent in Old San Juan touring the forts, shopping, and enjoying a tapas dinner with entertainment from Flamenco dancers. We are already recommending this condo and the beautiful island of Puerto Rico to our friends.

Excellent

Recently stayed in the aprtment and received an excellent service from the owner. Very responsive and attentive. Residence is in a graet location with private beach and pool as well as sporting areas. The apartment contains 3 spacious rooms with its respective bathroom which provides a very confortable stay. Overall excelent experience. Highly recomended!

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

Por la playa, la cancha de tenis, la de baloncesto, la vista. Los niños les gusta ir a correr caballo y ATVs. Los kayaks en la bahía luminocente de Fajardo y El Yunque son experiencias inolvidables.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

El complejo de apartamentos es suficientemente pequeño como para que los niños pueda. jugar libremente y tenemos buena seguridad.
