Absolute perfection! Not a single thing would change. This is a spectacular house. The beautiful pictures don’t even do it justice. Communication and recommendations from owner and manager were also spot on. Don’t hesitate to stay here!

This magnificent property exceeded our expectations, and served as the perfect setting for our family reunion. In addition, the location was central to local hikes, the Mohonk preserve, and exquisite dining at the Wildflowers resort among other places. We expect to make our family gathering at The Fels an annual event.

There is no more spectacular location or facility anywhere in the Highland or Hyde Park area. We lived like royalty and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our stay. There are some adaptations required to use the facility, such as the semi complicated home theater system however with a little luck and persistence, all will work out perfectly. We would also recommend new outdoor furniture on the large deck as the existing items are well worn and actually a little abrasive when used. There are also some areas that need repair to the deck and exterior finishes. Beyond those, we have absolutely nothing but praise for this property.

Summer retreat

Had a wonderful stay over two weekends. The house is beautiful and the views are just breath taking. Loved watching the sunset and summer lightning storms over the Hudson River. Not much reason to ever leave except for getting groceries and wine. Would come back in a heartbeat.

Fantastic!

We had a truly wonderful and memorable stay here for five nights in October 2024. The house is stunning and we all agreed that it's even better in real life than in the photos. The area is beautiful and although we had a long list of things to do in the local area, several days we decided to just stay in the house instead - using the hot tub, cinema room, games room and pool. Bud was a fantastic host and was very responsive to any questions we had during our stay. We would love to come back one day.

A dream of a house!

Stayed here for a 40th birthday weekend with friends. Felt like a dream. The whole house has such charming decoration and personality. Plus, the photos cannot capture the views from that deck, they are truly stunning. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was incredibly stocked, the hot tub was a delight and the ping pong/air hockey were a lovely surprise. For safety, maybe wouldn't come here with a super young kid (like under 3-4) as the pool is un-gated and the area in the front of the house has a drop off, but I imagine anyone else would enjoy staying here immensely. Our group of adults certainly did. Truly we had no complaints! Thanks for letting us appreciate your beautiful house Bud!

Panoramic views

A stunning glass house on top of a hill overlooking a beautiful stretch of the Hudson River. Sit on the large, comfortable deck or float in the pool while watching the boats go by. Ideal as a quiet, luxurious home base from which we ate at wonderful Hudson Valley restaurants, hiked, and went antiquing. Our only issue was that the air conditioning could not always keep up with the July heat wave.

We had an absolutely wonderful time at "The Fels." "The Fels" is a stunning property perched on a dramatic curve above the Hudson River. The house is spacious, sun-lite, and well designed for both group activities and privacy. And with a media room, game room, hot tub, seasonal swimming pool, tennis court, and great river overlook decks with a fire pit, you can be as active (or just chill) as you want. We spent 8 nights including Christmas, gathering around the fireplace in the "great room" after sunset cocktails on the deck, and dinner at the large oval table looking out over the river. The kitchen is smallish but well appointed. The house is 10 minutes (or less) from both New Paulz and Poughkeepsie, and just 15 minutes to Kingston for restaurants and shopping. And the owner is helpful and responsive if needed, so we could simply relax and enjoy our special holiday visit.

Great all-around experiance, amazing house & grounds, breathtaking views and super-accomodating Host

In short this place is simply amazing. We had the unfortunate experience of renting a place on VRBO that was somewhat misrepresented and needed to pivot quickly and find another alternative. The owner worked with us over a few hours to get everything in place and we showed up the next day! Certainly not cheap but the breathtaking views of the Hudson are worth it all on their own, before you factor in the gorgeous modern house loaded with all the amenities one could wish for. 4 bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms with steam showers and Jacuzzi tubs. A fully stocked and modern open kitchen, incredible game room where my kids spent plenty of time playing on the ps3, drums, electric guitars, ping-pong and air hockey tables was right next to the pool which provided for plenty of indoor/outdoor action. The hot tub on the deck overlooking the Hudson was awesome as well as was the incredible movie room where my kids enjoyed watching movies in a private movie theater. The large but comfortable house provided plenty of space for everyone to hang out with 6 bathrooms and a meticulously designed, fully modern, beautiful and thought-out home. The grounds are very pretty and the combo tennis court and basketball court make for some great outdoor fun as well. The host generously provided a long list of local attractions together with mountain bikes for exploring (although we stayed by the house the whole time) and was 100% available to answer any questions or concerns we had before and during our stay. I'd definitely return and recommend this place for anyone looking for some luxurious R&R.

The views from this property did not disappoint. We greatly enjoyed being able to sit on the deck over the water. The house is amazing. Some of the home's technology is complicated, but Bud is incredibly responsive to any questions that may arise.

A Very Special Place

I've been fortunate to have my 3rd visit to this gorgeous property. There is no better spot in the Hudson Valley any time of year, but particularly during Autumn. Close to New Paltz and Walkway over the Hudson which me and my friends enjoyed. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Beautiful views

This was our 2nd visit to this house. You can’t beat the amazing views of the Hudson River. Some of our highlights were the Walkway over the Hudson (for running or biking), the Headless Horseman haunted houses, the Pumpkin Blaze, Mohonk Mountain House, and Shadows over the Hudson for dinner. Of course, the best thing is to just sit on the patio with coffee or wine and enjoy the views at the house.

The Fels is a wonderful place for a family, with plenty of "together" and "solitary" space options. Our six-person group was a good fit. Having picked up our groceries before arriving, we only ventured out once during our stay, because the house gave us enough options to make our stay enjoyable.

Quiet and Fun Getaway Home

My family of four spend a very relaxing and fun filled week at "The Fels." My 12 and 13 year old sons were thoroughly entertained all week with the swimming pool and ping pong table. We had great family time and were able to get out and see some local sites as well. The tennis court and basketball are not in good condition, so I would not consider those true amenities of the house, but we did not mind as there were plenty of other things to do. We'd return for another vacation. Bud is a gracious host.

It’s got the WOW factor!

We spent a month in this gorgeous house seeing friends, giving dinner parties, swimming in the pool, and gazing at the Hudson River. A few operational glitches were handled by the owner over the phone and didn’t detract from the enjoyment of the beauty all around us.
