Bodega Guest Cottage en San Luis Obispo / Edna Valley Wine Country

Esta casa de campo pintoresco y encantador hostal ocupa la mitad de la casa original en el Claiborne y Churchill Bodega y la propiedad del viñedo. Ha sido restaurado en el año 2015, con electrodomésticos nuevos, pisos y muebles. Cada una de las dos habitaciones está equipada con una cama de matrimonio, mesitas de noche y lámparas. Hay (gratis) Wi-Fi en toda la casa. La sala de estar con TV de pantalla plana en la pared, cómodas sillas y un sofá grande. The cottage is wonderful. Elisabeth is wonderful. Friday evening wine and music is wonderful. Beds are super comfy. Reverse sunset from the front porch (or the tasting yard) is gorgeous. Back yard is spectacular and peaceful. It's always a pleasure to stay here.

We had a wonderful stay. The only items of note are that there is no dishwasher and the floor appears to be raised about 3.5 inches throughout the house. My wife almost fell getting into the shower/tub because it is lower than the floor by that amount. Otherwise it was terrific. The communication was great and there was even a bottle of wine awaiting us upon our late arrival. The back yard is a very nice garden with a BBQ and fire pit both of which we enjoyed. We took advantage of location to visit the host winery next door and enjoyed that part of our visit as well.

Sweet cottage at the winery

We loved this little cottage. It was perfect for the three of us. We loved touring around San Louis Obispo and the surrounding beaches. Beautiful, serene garden and outdoor space with party lights, grill, and fire pit. Elizabeth the owner was welcoming, informative and so so helpful.

Charming cottage in Edna Valley

We had a perfect stay for the long weekend visiting our cal poly student. The cottage is absolutely charming, and incredibly comfortable, with thoughtful details throughout, and natural beauty all around at this iconic Edna Valley property. It was wonderful to relax at the cottage during our downtime, whether lounging in the cozy living room, enjoying the front porch, or unwinding at one of the lovely garden tables outside… or stepping out through the gate to enjoy a tasting at the wine bar. Elizabeth and her family were exceptional hosts, embodying the warm, welcoming spirit that SLO is known for.

Very nice experience!Our Host Elizabeth was wonderful and shared many places to visit and recommend many excellent restaurants. We weren’t disappointed at all!Right next door is their winery and it’s centrally located to many desirable locations to visit such as SLO, Pismo Beach, Lake Lopez, Arroyo Grande, Montana De Oro State Park, & Morro bay.We recommend trying their Gewurztraminer and the Reisling with a cheese and meat plate.We’re looking forward to visiting again.

Cottage was great and so fun to be on the winery property! We stayed for an entire week so we could explore the SLO and Paso Robles area. Elizabeth and her family could not have been a nicer host. The house is well equipped and homey. The backyard was so nice and just a few steps to the winery. We drove so it wasn’t a problem to bring, but 2-3 beach towels or a blanket would have been great. Otherwise, the place was great and we’d definitely return!

Hidden Gem

We came to SLO for a wedding across the street from this vrbo. I did not realize this is a lovely little guest house on an excellent and popular winery. The hosts were so gracious and accommodating when we needed an early check in. We just walked through our backyard to get to the tasting room and large patio with fire pits. We wish we had more time to enjoy the house and premises. When we come back to the area we would want to rent here again. Fredricka and Clay felt like family. They were so friendly and welcoming and sweet. We didn’t get to meet Elizabeth but she was very very responsive via text and also very generous and accommodating!

Wonderful stay

We had a wonderful time staying at this cottage. It’s conveniently located close to the wineries of the Edna Valley, with a very short drive to Pismo Beach or downtown SLO. Our hosts were very attentive and accessible, promptly tending to any needs.

Perfect in every way!

My sister-in-law and I stayed here while visiting my son for family weekend at Cal Poly. The location was perfect. 5 min from the SLO airport and 15-20 min to campus or town. We enjoyed leaving the hustle and bustle of a busy weekend behind us to return each afternoon to this peaceful setting of rolling fields and vineyards.We sat out back around the fire pit in the evenings, which provided the perfect background for catching up and stargazing. Wifi was excellent and my son enjoyed the change of scenery from the dorms. We also enjoyed a charcuterie and wine tasting at the winery adjacent to the cottage on our last evening there. The home was comfortable and spotless and well stocked. We cannot wait to return. Highly recommend!

Wonderful Vineyard Retreat in SLO

I can't say enough about the property, location and hospitality of the owner, Elizabeth. It's a charming property that is extremely well cared for and appointed with everything you could possibly need. Elizabeth is the most welcoming hostess from meeting me at the property to the lovely welcome basket and wine. Sitting on the patio in the evenings and enjoying their Claiborne & Churchill wine (and listening to the live music in the vineyard on Friday) was sublime. So close to Pismo Beach and a short drive to downtown SLO, it's the perfect location. I highly recommend staying in this lovely vineyard cottage on your next trip to SLO!

Enjoyed our stay

The owner was gracious and welcoming. We had everything we needed. Cottage was clean and beds were comfortable. The only negative would be is that it is located near a busy road which can get a little noisy. Everything else was wonderful and we would stay here again.

Wonderful Cottage, Great Host!

Elizabeth's Edna Valley cottage was the perfect home base for our weekend getaway! The location is ideal, close to downtown SLO, beaches, and all the natural beauty the area has to offer. We loved spending evenings in the backyard, grilling and playing games while listening to live music from the nearby Claiborne & Churchill winery. The cottage itself was well-appointed and comfortable, with everything we needed and more. Elizabeth was an exceptional host, offering tons of local recommendations and going above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We can't wait to return!

Loved our stay

This was the perfect place to stay for us. We loved having the outdoor spaces, and both the backyard and front yard were wonderful to hang out in and beautifully landscaped. The inside was so cute, and I told my husband multiple times how happy I was we had chosen this place to stay. The beds were so comfortable, and the kitchen was nicely stocked to cook in. I honestly wish we could have stayed longer, and would 100% stay here again if we are in the area.

Relaxing and charming stay

Elizabeth was a top-notch property manager that provided answers and info immediately. She made our stay very enjoyable despite a change in our schedule and goodies waiting for us once we arrived. You need to try their wines at winery. Crisp and delightful like our entire stay! Thank you for the opportunity to stay at your lovely cottage and area with the beautiful access to the outdoors.

Great weekend stay

My wife, sister and I loved our stay. The host was very responsive, and the house was clean and very straightforward. We appreciated the welcome basket. The property is well kept and quiet. A couple things to keep in mind. No dishwasher, so use only dishes you want to hand clean at the end of your stay. Also, the location requires a car. Uber did work, but I would not rely on it for urgent or late night transportation.

Great Getaway

Thoroughly enjoyed this sweet cottage and its gorgeous garden. We were close enough to SLO to visit my daughter at Cal Poly, but also in the country able to enjoy the mountain views and night's sky. Elizabeth, Fredericka and Clay were gracious hosts and we were able to celebrate Mothers Day at the vineyard. Yummy wine, great music and an overall wonderful experience.

We are the Thompson family: Clay and Fredericka and (daughter) Elizabeth. We are the owners of Claiborne & Churchill Winery, founded in 1983 and located in the heart of the Edna Valley, just outside the charming town of San Luis Obispo, California. We have remodeled the original farmhouse on the property so that one-half is now a vacation rental.

We fell in love with this area and its wine culture while traveling up the California coast on a business trip, away from our hometown of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Not long after, we left our jobs in Michigan, moved to San Luis Obispo, and began working in the local wine industry, beginning our own small wine production in 1983. In 1990 we were able to purchase our present property, and in 1995 we built a small winery and tasting room using eco-friendly "straw-bale" construction methods.

Our guest cottage is an ideal place to relax, wind down, and "wine-down," as we say. It also makes a perfect base from which to explore this beautiful area. A dozen or more wine tasting rooms are within a fifteen minute drive, and the ocean is only five miles away, with sunning, surfing, and beach-combing opportunities. The charming towns of San Luis Obispo and Arroyo Grande are each within a ten-minute drive, each with its own shopping and cultural amenities. The local restaurant scene offers a variety of quality experiences, from casual to fine dining. Outdoor adventures such as biking the backroads or hiking the local trails are readily available.
