Perfect family spot!!

Our family absolutely loved our stay! We had so many laughs and meals together on the huge deck. Jo thought of everything you could possibly need. The house was amazing and peaceful. My kids (in their 30s) all acted like kids again out in the meadow and creeks. We can't wait to come back and relax again!!

Spacious and beautiful outdoor space/deck

The outdoor deck is the highlight of this property. We used it for grilling and eating meals, celebrating a birthday, relaxing and working on the numerous comfortable chairs and tables, soaking in the well-maintained hot tub, using the outdoor tiled shower that came supplied with shampoo and essentials, and exploring beyond the deck into the beautiful acrage. The indoor furniture, beds, pillows, and linens were extremely comfortable. The fresh farm eggs were a delicious welcome bonus. The additional eggs, beef, milk, and yogurt that we bought from the conveniently located store away were equally delicious. The house bedroom layout was a bit of a challenge. As correctly stated in the description, there are 3 private bedrooms. The front door opens directly to one of the bedrooms, which is spacious and has it's own bathroom. We worked around that by entering the house from the back deck. The other bedroom/office is connected to the primary bedroom, which you walk through to get to 2 bedrooms. The primary bedroom has no closet. The house can appear to have a cluttered look, but this did not affect the comfort and enjoyment of our stay. The house and surrounding property are a delight!

Lovely family trip!

We brought our young children and we all loved staying here! We walked around the property every evening and the back porch was perfect for morning coffees and family dinners. The hospitality details provided her were some of the best we have experienced. We would definitely come back!

Beautiful getaway

The owners of this property have thought of everything you could want or need for a comfortable stay. The house is beautifully laid-out, hot tub was in excellent clean condition, property was beautiful and the hot springs was 5 min away. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to spend our girls weekend.

Amazing property and owners

We were greeted with complimentary farm fresh eggs, coffee, soaps, shampoos and conditioner. At a great price we were even also offered fresh beef from the farm and it was absolutely impeccable. The property is literally minutes from downtown, shopping and dining and minutes from Mt. Princeton Hot Springs. The property was so cozy, the hot tub was a nice touch and the views from the front of the property were breathtaking. Communication was great and all questions were answered in a very timely manner. I have never stayed in a more well kept vrbo. We would definitely book again and would recommend this to any large group that is looking to get away to Buena Vista

Pleasant Home with Very Nice Outdoor Space

Had a very nice stay. Jo was a great hostess and she was very accommodating. The working ranch feel is fun! Would have liked the front bedroom to have more privacy as it has windows/glass doors with only lace coverings. There are only 4 bedrooms. The extra beds are in common areas. Would love to see a disposal installed. It’s a great place for 2-3 couples. Proximity to town and mountain activities makes it a good location, but don’t expect vistas and views. This home is more the cozy type. The back deck area is superb; especially in the summer.

Fabulous adventure

Seven girlfriends came to Buena Vista for a wonderful getaway weekend. The house was more than outstanding! When we arrived, it was kind of like a fairytale, we were all looking at the different bedrooms rooms trying to decide which room we wanted to sleep in! The beds were very comfortable and spacious. There’s plenty of room to gather in or find alone space. The backyard is breathtaking. The patio is covered so you can even eat outside when it’s raining! Which we did! It was so peaceful and beautiful. The hot tub was the most wonderful ending to a perfect day! We cooked breakfast and dinners in the magnificent kitchen. It had everything we needed, and then some. The farm is a working farm with chickens, and we were supplied each day with fresh eggs and herbs. Hettie and Jo we’re always readily available to answer any questions we had. My husband and I always stay in VRBO‘s, and this one by far was out standing! We’re already planning our next visit there! Stay here you’ll be glad you did!

Beautiful Retreat

Such a lovely house and property; it was hard to leave! It's a little bit outside of town and on a lot of land, so it's beautiful, private, and quiet. There were five of us; everyone had their own bed and space - awesome! The kitchen is clean and fully stocked; there's nothing you need to bring. Nice appliances, Ninja blender, air fryer, definitely ready for anything. The house is clean, and the beds are comfy. The highlight is the deck! So much room out on the deck, it's a wonderful, shady, relaxing spot. There are hummingbirds flitting around, lots of wild birds, and the owners have a friendly flock of chickens as well. The owner, Jo, was very kind and made sure we had what we needed. She texted the day before our rental started with some extra info, and checked in the day after we arrived to see if we needed anything. A little detail, but it was great to know she cared that we had a good time. I would definitely recommend this rental and I'd go back again!

40th reunion class

Property is very well appointed for cooking and dining inside or out on the large deck that overlooks a tranquil forested meadow. It made a great central point for our extended group to coordinate from and the 8 of us who stayed there all had glowing reviews. A couple of them plan to book again for family get togethers, which is a strong endorsement in itself. Thanks for all your assistence Jo and Hettie and Johnny!

Christmas vacation

Very satisfied. Lots of room. Private. Good location for access to groceries and other entertainment. House is excellently equipped. We thought it was closer to monarch mountain based on VRBO’s listing that it was only 15 miles/minutes o the mountain but it wasn’t a big deal.

Relaxation and a view

We loved our stay here. Beautiful vintage home with everything you need. It was great to take a walk on the wooded property. We saw owl, deer, pika and a fox! Would stay again!

Family Fun

We were delighted to find this property was so lovely and perfect for families. It is close to all the BV attractions but feels like you are isolated in the country. There is a marvelous large patio area which looks out over a meadow with babbling brooks and ponds, and even 2 horses. With little ones 5 and under we hardly needed to leave the property to have fun. They loved playing in the brook near the house and also feeding the chickens on site. The property is a working farm with an honor system for selling eggs, vegetable produce, beef, and honey and the workers were quite informative and friendly without ever intruding in our space. They were actually part of the delight of the place. Every time we had a request, it was answered immediately and respectfully. The house is charming and roomy and quite comfortable. Every window you look out has flowers and hummingbirds and beauty. We had a lovely time and will definitely be back.

Very Nice!

We enjoyed our time on the property! The house and grounds are clean and well-kept. The property manager on site was super friendly and communication was easy. My children enjoyed the chickens and being able to help feed and gather eggs. We also enjoyed our time down by the creek. The water was cold but my kids didn't mind splashing in the ankle deep part. We spent quite a bit of time on the amazing back porch. The pictures don't do it justice! The beds were very comfortable! The kitchen has everything you need to cook and there is a nice grill on the deck too. We enjoyed the complimentary dozen eggs! We will definitely return! I highly recommend!

Buena Vista retreat

We had a wonderful time at this property. Its close to town but quiet & so peaceful & relaxing. The kids had plenty of room to run & play & we all enjoyed the huge deck. The property managers were there & let the kids help feed the chickens, which they loved! What little time the managers were on site, they were very unobtrusive. We hope to come back again next summer.

Wonderful Retreat

We only ate one restaurant meal during our stay because we so enjoyed eating outside on the huge covered patio. In my opinion, this is the heart of the house, surrounded by flowers, hummingbirds, the sounds of water and wind chimes. It looks out over the lush acreage, where you occasionally see two resident horses grazing. The hot tub is one of the cleanest we've been in, and the private, outside shower is fantastic. The owner and caretaking staff are super friendly and accommodating-- let the kids help feed the chickens once, told us about good fishing spots, etc. There are many great attractions within a relatively short drive. Did fishing, tubing, Mt. Princeton Hot Springs, Salida, etc. After busy, fun days this house was perfect to "come home" to. Too many thoughtful touches inside the house to mention. Thank you Jo and staff!

Gorgeous

The pictures do not do the property justice. The home was larger than appeared in photos. The bedrooms were comfortable and well appointed. The kitchen was perfect. Lots of dinnerware, cookware and tons of spices to use for cooking. The back of the property is a sight to behold. The large deck with a hot tub and a gas grill with plenty of seating for gatherings. The acreage views from the deck are the most beautiful I have seen. The leaves were all golden, red and bright yellow. There also 2 horses that roam the property and are the sweetest. A small creek runs through the property as well. Great for sitting on the deck at night and listening to the running water. They also have chickens and can provide renters with fresh eggs. One of the property hands, Eddie, was so nice and helpful and showed us around the house and property. I could go on and on. This was the best rental experience have had to date.

Peaceful and relaxing ranch

We had such a great time at Jo’s ranch. The accommodation were great, we had everything we needed. Jo and her staff were accessible and helpful at any time. Fresh eggs were waiting for us when we arrived and made a great breakfast. But exploring the grounds was the best part. Mornings and evenings on the porch, or sitting in a chair by the creek - each location was delightful. There were plenty of great trails that were a short drive way, too.

Repeat visit

I have stayed here previously with other family members and everyone enjoyed the area and of course our accommodations. My house is spacious and comfortable and very friendly. The surrounding property is beautiful with the streams, Meadows and wildlife that occupy it. It makes for a truly wonderful experience. We came this time and had several of the members who have not been here before, their comments on the house and the grounds were the same. It was most enjoyable and beautiful. The staff and Jo as the owner were very accommodating and very easy to work with in any situation. We highly recommend anyone looking to stay in the area consider this has their accommodations!

I fell in love with this property the first time I saw it. I knew it was not only my "forever place", but knew it would make a great retreat for others. So I over the course of 3 years, I restored original douglas fir hardwood floors, totally remodeled the kitchen with granite counter tops & tile floors, added a large deck & hot tub, painted every building inside & out, planted lots of trees & flowers & added brand new furnishings, including custom-made leather couches & hand knotted imported rugs throughout home. The original home was built in the early 1900's & was added onto in the 80's, 90's & 2013. This property was originally a cattle ranch. This ranch is currently a working ranch with cows & chickens. (We take our cows to open range during the summer season.) My favorite part of this property is the meadowlands behind house; it makes me feel like I entered into another world, completely private and natural.

This house is not only represents a piece of Buena Vista history, but it was updated with the best & most comfortable amenities available. We want you to enjoy as many comforts of home as possible. If we don't have it, please let us know what you would like to enjoy next time. The coolest thing about this property is that it is actually the greenest, lushest place in the area with 5 creeks that run through the land. The grasses get super tall & vibrant, while the wildlife abounds. You would think you were in the woods, but you're really close to town.

There's a real tipi surrounded by huge cottonwood trees to enjoy . On a hot day, feel free to take a dip in any creek. Roast marshmallows at one of our camp fire pits, as long as there are no fire restrictions. Enjoy many local birds at our feeders. You can actually watch annual Forth of July fireworks show from front yard. We currently have a pair of horned owls, a duck family as well as lots of deer, raccoons, squirrels & many surprise visitors.
