Built in 1936 and thoughtfully remodeled over time to retain the original historic charm, this quaint, 2 story beach cottage welcomes you with whimsical art glass and fun touches. Abalone Beach Cottage offers a comfortable floor plan that sleeps up to 6 guests, with 4 bedrooms and 1.5 baths providing the ultimate in peace and relaxation. You will love the dramatic beach and ocean views. Open the windows, hear the waves and sleep to the rhythmic sound of the surf. Whether watching whales or waves, sunrises or our famous Oregon coast storms, this home is perfect for a family vacation or a romantic getaway.

Provided for your enjoyment are Flat screen smart TV's where you can access apps such as netflix and hulu- bring your passwords! Also, DVD players, a stereo system, games, puzzles, DVDs, a gas grill and more.

Sleeps up to 6 - 4 Bedrooms, 3 Queens, 1 Full, 1 Queen Futon, 1.5 baths.
Vehicles: Licensed for 2 (Strictly enforced- No street parking allowed)

Not clean for a $200 cleaning fee

I wanton happy with the cleanliness. There was dog hair on the sofas and floor. Dust and sand still around. Some dishes, pots, and utensils needed to be washed before use. The road was horrible, lucky we brought the truck. The home looked better in the pictures. With that aside, the view was nice and walking distance.

Love Abalone Cottage

We thought the house very quaint. The bonus large yard was a nice surprise. The decorations of all the beach pictures and extras were lovely. We enjoyed the ocean views, especially in the upstairs bedroom. Definitely would book this property again.

Cute beach cottage

In general, we enjoyed our stay here. It's not right on the beach, but you can see the ocean from a few windows and beach access is a really short walk down the road. Like other reviews mentioned, the furniture is older, but I think it adds to the charm of the cottage. It's decorated cute, and there are plenty of spaces for friends and family to gather or spread out. The hot tub was an amazing addition for us. It's in the large backyard, and when the cover is pulled back, it provides plenty of privacy. We enjoyed it on a couple of cool nights after time at the beach and a hike in the woods. Just what we needed! We also enjoyed the ping pong table in the garage. It's a super fun game room with a lot of games to choose from. The kids loved playing ping pong. The kitchen is well appointed with everything you'll need (we didn't do any heavy cooking, though), and there were plenty of towels to go around, as well as blankets if needed. It was pretty clean (something I worry about with these older rental homes) but could probably use a deeper clean in the bathrooms. The bathroom with the bathtub had a strong smell of urine, which was overwhelming at times. That should be taken care of ASAP because it's a really nice bathroom otherwise! All in all, we enjoyed our stay and would return for another visit!

Cozy home with partial view

Close to the beach with access. Good view even though row of homes in front. Unique layout. Small kitchen but it worked. Comfortable. Loved the hot tub, game area in garage, and big yard.

Quaint place

3 couples stayed here for a week. There were a few room options to choose from. Most of which did not have doors but only Curtains for privacy. Although rather small and quirky, The cottage was comfortable enough and had some fun amenities like a hot tub, and game room with ping pong table, and corn hole. Chairs and a kite for the beach was also available which was nice. It worked out to be close to a cottage our other family members were renting which was a bonus. It was mentioned several times that the bathroom wall decor was not in the best of taste. We felt our host was attentive. We enjoyed our stay.

Nice location, sketchy beach access, not very clean

There were about 4 or 5 hairs on our bed spread, my wife was very aware of, I tried to ignore it (I was tired and started feeling like all the problems with the house were a reflection on my choice to stay here). The futon in the living room was dirty (stained) and had crumbs in it, I tried cleaning it to help my son feel better about sleeping there. Overall the house had a musty smell that we either got nose blind to, or the open windows helped. The beach access was very rocky luckily they had a rope tied so you could kind of repel down with and pull yourself back up with. If my Mom was a little older it might have been a no go altogether. ok last negative remark, the mattresses are old squeaky coil spring, I had a cheap foam mattress at home that I was really missing. Other than this the game roomh was a lot of fun for the kids (mind the bat), and the hot tub was newer and a nice time.

Welcoming beach house

We very much enjoyed our time at Abalone cottage. Each bedroom had its own charm, the eat-in kitchen was easy to use, and the game room and hot tub were a nice bonus after a day on the beach.

Girls weekend

Stayed here for a girls weekend. Pros the location is very close to the beach, beautiful views multiple rooms, lots of places to sleep, 5 min drive to Yachats. The hot tub was very nice and private. Cons would be one very hard bed upstairs, stove range did not work very well (front burner stopped in the middle of me cooking on it), made it challenging to cook overall as it was an older electric stove. The house has two toilets, but only one of the bathrooms has a place to shower or bath which might be challenging for some with a larger group. We made it work. None of these cons would be a deal breaker for me to not use this property again, just things to consider depending on your needs.

Wonderful Location

Perfect location outside of town, quiet neighborhood. Easy beach access for able body (steep short hill, but 71 year old grandma did okay). Hot tub was nice way to end every day. Location was close to both Newport and Florence (half hour either direction) with the little town of Yahats only a few minutes away. Two 11 year olds enjoyed ping pong and the beach every day. For five people this was perfect.

Great place!

Stayed here for a girls weekend getaway. Lots of space for all of us! Wish we found the game room the first night we were there. Short distance to the beach. Love the rooftop dining area and hot tub! Definitely would come back!

Great Funky Beach Cottage on the Coast

We enjoyed our stay in this eclectic beach cottage. Easy walks on the beach at low tide, enjoyable soaks in the hot tub, cooking crab dinner in the kitchen and fun game nights in the game room. I appreciated that they had beach gear and clamming equipment available. Have to use that next time! The cottage has a bit of a strange layout with sloped floors and obvious additions, but I grew to appreciate the beach cottage for what it was- a great place to hang out and enjoy the pace of the Oregon coast. Car needed to access town. Responsive hosts that got back to us almost immediately when we couldn't find the key to the game room. I would return happily for a longer stay! Thanks for having us!

Beautiful Beach Cottage

This is a cozy cottage extremely close to the water. I enjoyed listening to the waves all night long. It was well equipped and there were plenty of linens for our stay. It was everything we were expecting.

The home was an older home that had looked to have been added on at least 3 times over the years. The listing photos for the beach access are deceiving. They make the house look to be right on the beach but it is 1 house back. Also the beach access is down the street. All in all the house isn’t terrible but in my opinion it should be described better and is over priced for what you get. Pros • Tap water taste great • Hot tub was in good location only steps away from back door • Garage with ping pong table and various other games was great for family time • Internet was good Cons • BBQ was a mess, propane was almost empty, the grill brush was falling apart and moldy and finally one out of the 3 burners didn’t function correctly. When I called the night we checked in I left a voice mail and did not receive a call back. I had to call again the next morning. They brought out a new bottle of propane but would not bring out a brush. I had to go buy my own. • When arriving we noticed ant traps on the kitchen counter and other various parts of the house. After the first day coming back to the house there we ants in the kitchen and living room. This is not due to us leaving out food. • The oven/cook top did not have any ventilation and the front right burner only worked part of the time. I found if I push it in it will work but if it moves at all it stops. • The second bathroom toilet would not flush even some toilet paper I’ll leave the rest to your imagination. • If your staying with multiple family’s be aware that some of the bed rooms only have shower curtains for doors.

Quiet getaway

We really enjoyed our stay at the Abalone Beach Cottage. Loved the cottage, it was cute and clean. Just a couple of issues. We had absolutely no cell service with Verizon at the cottage, and the internet was down the whole weekend we were there. We had to drive a few miles to call and text Sweet Home to let them know, and check in. We were told that there was a county wide outage. There was a landline at the house but we were not contacted or updated beyond check in. Although we did love the house and enjoy our (quiet) family time, I felt that the view and location were not quite as advertised. The cottage is completely surrounded by other houses, and the view is obstructed by them and all their vehicles. That was not what I expected at all, but we did still enjoy our stay!
