Acorn Cottage: Privacy on 4 Acres in Kenwood

UPDATE: There are NO tasting room fees for our guests (pass required) at three local, family-owned wineries in Kenwood: Ty Caton Vineyards, Muscardini Cellars, and Loxton Cellars.

The Acorn Cottage is located approximately one hour north of San Francisco on scenic Highway 12. Your hosts, Bev and Jerry Stemach, invite you to indulge yourself in this charming vacation rental nestled among grapevines and ancient oaks in the heart of the Sonoma wine valley.

The cottage is generously appointed. Enjoy a private hot tub and patio, a bottle of petit verdot made from our grapes, and other delightful provisions.

If you are inclined to explore, an array of exciting activities are minutes away: hiking in local State parks or along coastal beaches, biking on backroads, dining in restaurants in Kenwood, Glen Ellen, and Sonoma, and wine tasting throughout Sonoma County's 13 viticulture regions. Napa Valley is just over the hill.

Bev and Jerry have lived here for nearly 40 years and they love sharing their insider recommendations to make your stay memorable. Read a few reviews if you need convincing.

Acorn House is a gem!

We had a fabulous and relaxing time at the Acorn House. The house was appointed perfectly and anticipated all our needs. Bev and Jerry are wonderful human beings and gracious hosts. We’ll definitely be back!

Exceptional Cottage with Amazing Hosts!

5 Stars is not enough to rate this beautiful oasis! By far the best stay we have experienced. The Acorn cottage was better than described with attention to every detail to the bottle of wine, cheese and crackers, makings for a continental breakfast and not to mention Bev's homemade banana bread. The cottage is private, with breathtaking views, extremely clean with attention to EVERY detail. Bev and Jerry go over and beyond being great host. A pure gem in Sonoma! We can’t wait for our next return visit! Thank you again Bev and Jerry!

Amazing Experience in Wine Country

My girlfriend and I stayed for a week to celebrate a birthday, and this place was one of the highlights! The property itself is beautiful and quiet, and maintained to a standard that shows thoughtfulness and care. The hosts are the nicest people, they seem to actually care that people enjoy their stay on the property and in the area.

Wonderful Stay at Acorn Cottage!

We had such an amazing time at the Acorn Cottage. The cottage was adorable and Bev and Jerry were great hosts. They had the place stocked with essentials and even shared with us a glass of wine in their lovely wine room. We will definitely recommend this to anyone looking to stay in the Sonoma area.

Wonderfully peaceful

My daughter and i stayed for a short weekend and didn't want to leave. The hosts were so lovely and shared some wonderful goodies in our cottage. We didn't have much time to visit but hopefully will be back again soon.

Acorn Cottage - Amazing!!

Truly the most welcoming and lovely experience. Not only was the property setting tranquil and beautiful, but the hosts went WAY above and beyond. From providing numberous necessities, to providing localized food luxuries, the hosts are lovely people. Perfect Getaway

Acorn House is an example of that rare experience when the property is even better than its listing! The cottage and environs are wonderfully cared for and the hosts have thought of every detail in the house to make the stay wonderful. Everything clean and in working order and lots of special touches! The hosts really went above and beyond in communication and went out of their way to support our interests and needs. We were so grateful for this rejuvenating retreat and thanks to the hosts it was a very special and exceptional stay! We’ll be back!

Wonderful Hosts and sweet cottage

The Acorn House is a lovely cottage and the hosts were exceptional. They were very accommodating and generous, including leaving us a Marin cheese and crackers, homemade banana bread, wine, beer and bottled water. The hot tub was great and the property is private and secluded.

Hidden gem

Acorn cottage was amazing 10/10 from us. Bev and Jerry are delightful. Very knowledgeable about the area. Go above and beyond any place we’ve stayed before. I felt like I was on a retreat.

Sonoma Getaway

This is more of an experience than a rental property. Acorn Cottage was accurately described and the perfect size and privacy for two. There a several Sonoma wineries within 5-10 minutes and Napa Valley a nice 35 minute drive through the mountains. Jerry and Bev were great host and we look forward to coming back.

Fabulous!

From the moment we arrived, Bev and Jerry took great care of us! From the homemade banana bread, to the wine, cheese and other goodies left for us, we couldn't have asked for more. The property is stunning in its location and landscaping. Very private and secure.

Lovely cottage, lovely experience!

Bev and Jerry have one of the best rental experiences you can find. We enjoyed wine and stories with them the evening we arrived and spent three nights in a peaceful, quiet setting. It was the perfect place to come back to after a hike or a visit in town. Cant recommend Acorn Cottage more enthusiastically! We will be back again!

Beautiful peaceful cottage. Great host.

This was our first time at this cottage. We were were wanting a romantic place for our 33rd anniversary and this was exactly what we were looking for. Quiet peaceful cottage. The spa was a perfect temperature. It was relaxing around the outside fireplace while grilling. Couldn't ask for better hosts. the cottage was clean and fully supplied with more then we expected. Close to many activities. We hope to come back.

Pure delight

Delight… that feeling of finding a place that is more beautiful than the pictures, more comfortable than the descriptions, and more hospitable than we could have imagined. From the first day, we began calling the Cottage ‘home’. Our hosts we wonderful, accommodating, and gave great advice and suggestions for restaurants, wineries, and places to see. Fabulous Stay at the Acorn House!

Count yourself lucky to be able to stay at this private, vineyard cottage in the best part of Sonoma wine country. Kenwood has its own stunning vineyard estates nearby and is an easy drive to Sonoma town center as well as within easy range to the Russian River Valley, Napa, the Pacific coast, and more. Bev and Jerry are the most gracious hosts; inviting us for wine and accompaniments in their private cellar for great conversation as well as area recommendations. Those being where to go for tastings and other adventures such as the Armstrong Redwoods and the Jack London estate. They even provided us with a great packing box for travelling back with our wine; and we filled it :-) The property itself is basically your own private vineyard "Acorn Cottage" with wildlife, on beautifully landscaped grounds. A very unique setting. Looking forward to a return stay. Thank you Bev and Jerry.

Visiting from San Antonio!

We spent 4 days and 3 wonderful nights in this cottage; we are very fortunate to have found it! This trip to Sonoma/Napa Valley was one of our all time favorites. Bev and Jerry have gone above and beyond to make their guests feel at home. The cottage was perfect, it has everything you would ever need. The location was perfect, we arrived to Bev waving in the driveway and although their personal home is also located on this beautiful 4 acres, the cottage and hot tub were extremely private. Bev and Jerry left us with fresh banana bread, a bottle of wine and flip flops for our hot tub outings. I can go on and on and on, it was great and very romantic. Don't miss out on this place , trust us, you will be telling all your friends and family about it! <3

Amazing

We stayed 6 nights at the Acorn House, and feel very fortunate to have found such a perfect place to stay, and such wonderful hosts with Bev and Jerry. The spacious guest cottage is located in a very private oasis of beautiful gardens, grape vines, and trees - including a massive Oak that's perfectly framed when looking out the large picture window in the living room. The hot tub just steps from the door is extra private and adored by beautiful landscaping. Along with bath robes, flip flops (to keep) and the most luxurious towels were a daily favorite. The Acorn House experience goes way beyond the immaculate but comfortable amenities described by previous guests, and really has more to do about Bev & Jerry's sincere commitment to providing a perfect vacation experience to their clients. All of their insider tips and advice as to which wineries, restaurants and sightseeing attractions to visit were 100% spot-on, which allowed us to maximize our enjoyment over our visit. The location in Kenwood is ideal and allows for easy access to several outstanding wineries, as well as some fantastic scenic country road trips. Also, their personal experience as grape growers and their insider knowledge of the best wine values were extremely helpful and educational. Most impressive of all was their sincere hospitality, whereby we were invited into their private cellar and home to become better acquainted as friends as well as the other guest staying on the property. Our only criticism to them was that we felt that their web site could not possibly convey how perfect a destination that Acorn House provides to its guests. Their modesty, and understated, humble approach to customer satisfaction is just their nature. Stay here and you will definitely get more than you expect and leave totally fulfilled beyond expectations - I think that's how they intend it to be.

Secluded Get-Away!

Beautiful, clean and accomodating! Our hosts keep a very lovely and well thought out rental! Complete with welcome snacks and wine from their own vineyard! We would 100% stay on this property again as it was homey, quiet and peaceful.

Jerry and Bev Stemach are life-long residents of Northern California. They have lived in wine country for 40 years and have hosted guests for 20 years. They farm petit verdot grapes under the Sonoma Valley appellation. Petit verdot is a Bordeaux varietal often used as a blending grape. When it comes to winery and restaurant recommendations, guests consistently describe Jerry and Bev as "spot on".
