Wyndam Kingsgate

The property was great! We used the pool, mini-golf, exercise room, gas grill, and arcade rooms. They gave us and our three children (ages 5, 8, and 10) plenty to do right on the property for our four-night stay. We also liked the short drives to Busch Gardens, Colonial Williamsburg, and Water Country USA.

Vacation woes

We like staying at Kingsgate because the rooms fit our family. But this time I had problems at check in. When I checked in I was told that our rooms were cancelled. The staff at Kingsgate were very helpful and when I finally got hold of the owner which took over an hour and by this time we had gone to dinner he called while I was at dinner and we got it straightened out.. It made the start of my vacation very stressful.

Great family vacation

Great location, clean, and roomy rental. Beds we're large and comfortable. Dishwasher and washer/dryer combo were super convenient. We loved sitting on the balcony in the mornings. Virginia was in a heat wave, so we stayed indoors mostly after seeing the sights. Maintenance handled a minor problem quickly and efficiently. The only negative was the slow check in process. They say you have to see a concierge for your parking pass, but the registrant could easily do that. The real reason is to persuade visitors to attend a time share presentation. We refused. Even so, it was a great vacation from suburban Atlanta.

It was a beautiful unit.

My only issues are that no one showed up to help get my luggage and my two kids luggage up to the 2nd floor after they said someone wound meet me there. There are no elevators. The burgers from the King's Tavern were pink inside and unable to be eaten even though I asked for them to be well done. Also the burger that was suppose to have to bacon on it was in a box that was marked no bacon, but it was the one with bacon on it. For $15 and up a burger I expected it to be much better. No complaints about the unit in genera. The parking spaces are very tight. They need to widen them some. And guest services were too busy to answer when calling the front desk because we needed our linens changed.

A madhouse at check in

Well we drove 9 hours only to be told we did not have a reservation and no one at the front desk could help us. We had to call the owner!! That was it no help at all. We finally tracked down the owner and he worked everything out apologized profusely. Great except it too us 45 minutes and many phone calls to get our room key. Once we got to our room it was very nice. Stay was uneventful but parking was a bit tricky. Sometimes you could park close and sometimes it was a bit of a hike. On Saturday the line to check in was very long and I am glad we did not have to wait in line for hours only to be told you don't have a reservation. All in all we liked the accommodations but the management of the resort and this condo is very lacking. How can you forget to tell kingsgate we were coming from South Carolina?

Delayed check in, but all worked out

Well, to be honest it did start off a little rocky . Check in was supposed to be at 4 PM I arrived at 5 PM and still had to wait an hour for my room to be ready . Based on the pictures and description we believed there was a bedroom with two double beds that my daughters were going to use . This was not the case, but things worked out with the sofa sleeper. There was actually a nice mattress on it and they were comfortable. There was an issue with one of the Cable boxes not working on our last day there but other than that it was fine. It was quiet, clean , staff seemed friendly and pools were nice .
