This home is located in the Sea Isle community on Galveston island, approximately 21 miles west of the historical Strand tourist destination. Our community is a combination of full-time residents and vacation visitors that travel from far and wide. Come relax in our newly remodeled home with its unique canal view!

This 1,550 square foot home is great for group vacations and family gatherings. It has breathtaking views from the living room, master bedroom, and the deck. You definitely will experience a true beach vacation here and we encourage you to take your boat! The home is a short walk from the marina store/ Sand Bar Restaurant and a short ride to the beach or grocery/ convenience store. We recommend renting a golf cart so you can get around like the locals do!

Ground floor features:
• Outdoor shower and changing area
• Banquette seating and table for 8-10
• Swinging bench for two
• 6 bar height stools for the granite countertop bars
• bathroom with toilet, pedestal sink, and storage space
• refrigerator/ freezer with icemaker
• 2 bicycles for rides around the neighborhood
• 2 stand-up paddle boards
• 2 kayaks
• boat dock with swim ladder (Bring Your Own Boat)

1st Level features
• Two stair cases to reach 1st level. The main stair case is what we use most and is visible right as you enter the property.
• HUGE deck with multiple seating options, a grill, and amazing canal views.
• Newly remodeled throughout including new floors, kitchen, countertops, doors, wood trim, solar shades, etc.
• You enter into the main space that includes the kitchen, TV area, and dining room. The kitchen has a large island with 3 bar-height stools and recessed wine cooler. We hope you love this central gathering space as much as we do!
• The dining room table seats 6-8 with dimmable lighting provided by our ‘Sputnik’ light fixture.
• All windows with the exception of the two behind the television are electrically operated hurricane shutters. The two behind the TV are manual rollup.
• In the hallway, we have a washer and dryer available for use during your stay. Please do not overfill washer!
• A Nest thermostat is used to ensure your comfort during your stay. We’ll make sure to have the temperature just right before you arrive.

o Large closet for clothes and miscellaneous items


Bedroom Two is the last bedroom on the left-hand side of the hallway
o Dimensions (approx.): 10 x 11 feet
o Queen size bottom futon and Single size top mattress. The futon can be folded into a comfortable loveseat-size couch
o Closet for clothes
o 42 inch plasma television


Bedroom Three is located at the end of the hallway on the right side
o Dimensions (approx.): 10 x 11 feet
o Queen bed with nightstands
o Large closet for clothes and miscellaneous items

2nd Level features
• Bedroom Four is the master bedroom located at the top of the circular stairway
o Dimensions (approx.): 11 x 18 feet
o King size Bed with nightstands
o Ceiling fan and lights
o 6 drawers for storing your clothes. All you need are trunks though, right?!
o Reading area with comfortable IKEA rocker chair
• The master bathroom has a shower, floating vanity cabinet, one sink, and a tall upright towel cabinet.


We require a copy of the primary renter's drivers license and a complete list of guest first and last names. We have a strictly enforced 'no parties' policy and have thankfully not needed to use it. We do not allow pets and do not allow smoking inside the home or on the deck. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have about our home.

Hello, our names are Barend and Julie VanderHorst. Barend is an energy executive and Julie is a kindergarten teacher. We grew up in the Midwest but have called Texas home since 1999. We have a daughter and two dogs and live in a suburb west of Houston. We love the water, the beach, and consider ourselves blessed to own Regal Beagle. We hope you enjoy our beach retreat as much as we do!

Having spent several weekends in Sea Isle as guests of friends that live nearby, our interest in owning a home in the neighborhood grew back in 2015. It is one of few communities with so many amenities either a walk or short drive away. It is truly unique and special!

When we saw that a property was becoming available, we jumped at the chance given the double lot size and its location on the canal. Mind you, the interior and exterior looked vastly different then, but we saw a nice remodel/ refurbish project. Barend learned the construction trade from his father and tackled many of the remodeling projects himself. Many weekends (almost 1.5 years worth!) and vacation days were used to construct what you see today. We wish we would have done a better job of keeping a before and after album.

Finally, the close knit community sealed the deal for us. We have full-time residents as neighbors and they do a great job of keeping an eye on the place. This community looks out for each other in a loving and caring way. You don't have to go very far to find a neighbor willing to give a hand and we do all that we can to reciprocate.

Qué distingue a esta propiedad

Besides the location on the canal and the view, all of the unique-ness has recently been added! It is really easy to get down the canal and make your way into the Bay; it's no more than a wake free trip of 3-5 minutes.

Much of what you see is new and updated. We really enjoy the downstairs area and sit in the shade to remain cool with the unobstructed gulf breezes. Neighbors require fans to remain cool; mother nature and the sizeable deck make it happen for free the Regal Beagle!
