"Shirl's Shores" is a 4 Bedroom, 2 bath classic beach bungalow, arranged with 2 bedrooms/1 bath on each side separated by a large open central living area. It is perfect for 1 or 2 families. SHIRL'S SHORES IS A 7 DAY, MINIMUM, SATURDAY TO SATURDAY ROTATION. Sleeps 8, with queen beds in 3 bedrooms and 2 twins in the 4th. This cottage has been owned by the same family since 1980 and has been enjoyed as a vacation site by many families and fishermen over the years. Previously, rented through a local agency, we manage it directly (retired and full time residents of Nags Head). We want you to enjoy a true beach experience. The location is ideal for beachcombers and nature lovers. (Milepost 21)-the southern side of S. Nags Head-close to the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center. Considering the ideal location, the rates are truly value priced. In keeping with the goal of "economy pricing", linens are not standard. Guests would bring their own sheets (3 queens, 2 twins) & towels. Bedspreads, pillows, blankets, and mattress pads are provided. We can direct you to local linen services, should you need them.

Great Location!

Enjoyed our stay! Great house and location. Shirley and Becky (hosts) provided great recommendations of where to eat and shop. Will try to book again next time we are at the OBX.

Exactly as described

This was our first time in OBX and it did not disappoint. We loved the house, it was in a great location in nags head. The owners were easy to work with. I would highly recommend this stay.

The location of this house was perfect. It is a very short walk to the beach that is not crowded. The house was a nice size for my family and parents. We would stay here again. Had everything we needed.

Family time

This is our 2nd year staying at Shirl's Shores. 4 adults and our dogs were comfortable and pleased with the house. The owners understand the meaning of family time. Highly recommend Shirl's Shores.

Felt like home had moved to the beach!

Well appointed, kitchen exceeded expectations, steps to beach, one porch always in shade! Owners were attentive, helpful and very kind! Staying here provided a worry free vacation week! We are grateful!

Perfect cottage close to the beach!

We enjoyed a wonderful and relaxing vacation here and would definitely return! The house had plenty of space for our family of four and our little dog. Loved the porches on both the front and back of the house. Perfect proximity to the beach.

Wonderful, relaxing time in Nags Head

Our family had a wonderful time, staying at this Nags Head property. Shirley and Becky couldn't have been more hospitable. We were able to relax, and really enjoy family-time together! :D

Perfect!!

We stayed in the cottage for a week and it could not have been more perfect for us . The location is extremely convenient , away from all the hustle & bustle but just close enough if you needed to go anywhere for anything . Walking distance to the ocean which was great ! This place is beautiful and the neighborhood is clean and friendly ! These are some of the best hosts I’ve ever had ! Thank you for sharing your place with us ! We had an amazing time !

Great location! Perfect Vacation Home!

This was our first time using the Home Away app. Everything went perfect. Excellent renters. They live close and met us at the home. Excellent communication prior to arrival, during, and after. It was a perfect home for our family of 4 and a dog. The home would be fine for more people too. Perfect location, nice neighborhood, and great place to walk, run, or ride bikes. Close enough to stores and restaurants but far enough from the congestion. Definitely would stay here again. Loved everything about our stay!

Great Experience

My family (there were 6 of us total, plus our dog) stayed at Shirl's Shores for two weeks in June. Check in was quick and easy (we dealt mostly with Becky, Shirley's daughter who was always prompt to reply to any questions we had). The house was clean, the location was perfect, especially since the beach was recently replenished, the neighborhood was safe enough to let our 13 year old daughter ride her bike alone, and we were close enough to all the stores and shops without being too close. My mother in law loved the porches! We all agreed that we would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful stay!

I cannot say enough nice things about our stay at this home. The location is great! It was such an easy walk to the beach down a quiet little street, just 4 houses from the beach. The beach was not busy when we visited during prime season. We were also close enough to the protected seashore areas that we could explore away from all of the more crowded areas. Becky (the owner's daughter) was incredibly nice and very willing to help when we had a minor issue. The house was clean and well laid out. The outdoor shower was clean and so nice to have. Our party was all family (3 couples and a child under 5) and we had plenty of room for everyone to hangout and even eat at the same table. Thank you Becky (and Shirley) for a wonderful week! We are excited to come back in years to come.

Rainy vacation

Located in South Nags Head a short drive to the main strip. The house layout was great with bedrooms and bath on each side separated by the living area. A short walk to the beach it was the perfect location. Unfortunately the weather was not our friend but I recommend this beach house for a Nags Head getaway.

Family Vacation

I booked the stay to celebrate my 50th birthday with my 3 kids (20, 18, 15) & my son’s girlfriend (also 18). We had a wonderful time. The location was perfect and convenient for relaxing, shopping, site seeing, and being on the beach. The house was cozy, stocked with kitchen equipment, and the washer and dryer were in perfect condition.

Relaxing!

Shirl's Shores was perfect! Location was a short walk to the beach. Close to shopping for gifts and groceries. Plenty of room for 4 adults and our pets. Plenty of walking paths. The trip to see the wild horses on the beach at Corolla was wonderful. The weather was cool and windy but it didn't stop us enjoying OBX! The bedrooms were comfortable, kitchen stocked with what we needed to prepare our meals, no problems with wifi. Communication with owners and checkin was smooth. Neighborhood was quiet. I recommend Shirl's Shores to any family looking for a comfortable place to spend a week at OBX. We are already planning our trip for next year.

Charming Home and Value Priced

This house was 120% clean and worth the value. It was spotless, had all the needed cooking tools (dishware, utensils, pots/pans, etc.). The neighborhood was quiet -- we slept really well!! It is a very very SHORT walk from the beach which was wonderful. I would stay here again!

Perfect location!

We really enjoyed our stay at "Shirl's Shores". The location was very convenient to both Nags Head stores as well as Manteo. We cooked meals most nights and found the kitchen had everything that we needed. Super easy access to the beach. We rented bikes and biked to town and Fish Head's for lunch and beverages. Greatly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again!

Shirley, along with her husband Allen had this cottage built back in 1980-both as a family vacation site and as an investment. She and her family loved the nature, beauty and the unique privacy that South Nags Head offers. It is the perfect site for true beach combers and for launching off to Rodanthe, Hatteras, Okracoke, etc.-yet close to the restaurants and shops in Manteo and Nags Head. She lost Allen about 10 years ago but has maintained this cottage as a family vacation rental property. It is value priced.
