Welcome fishermen, hunters, and kayakers! Fully furnished Mobile home located directly across the street from Grindstone Harbor boat launch on Lake Huron.
This rental is a work in progress. Many updates inside and out including central air . We do have 4 unadvertised RV sites on the same property, 2 are full time seasonal sites.
We have a quarry that we have been working on to clean up and deepen, so there might also be an excavator on site and I never know when he'll be there, he's a super nice guy but his equipment is loud, he is not there all the time. There's a nice patio with chairs overlooking the quarry to enjoy and relax.
Please please please keep an eye on your kids! Lots of water around you here..
There's 1 large community fire pit or a small more portable one if you'd rather be more by yourself.
Just bring your personal items and you'll be ready to start your vacation. Includes cable/Xfinity streaming box, please bring your own passwords and internet. Sheets and towels. Sleeps 4 comfortably, (but does include a full size pull out sofa and a regular couch), 1 queen, and 1 full sized bed.
Kitchen is fully stocked with full sized fridge, range, microwave. Pots n pans, dinnerware, towels etc. (Minus a vegetable peeler, I'm told lol.) You may have to bring your own plastic wrap and bags, foil or whatever favorite items you may need to make your stay more comfortable. There are some storage bowls. We have a couple charcoal grills on the property for your use.
Pet friendly, (with restrictions). Please clean up after your pet and leashes are a must.
We do have city water delivered in a large tank, not many wells in our area.

Driving directions: m25 north to Pearson Rd. Follow the concrete around. Will turn into Pointe Aux Barques Rd at the lake. Drive straight ahead. Grindstone Harbor public Access will be on the right, my place on the left. Grey garage and white and grey mobile home with blue shutters. 3376 Pointe Aux Barques Rd, Port Austin 48467. Perfect Getaway

Cute home! Has everything you need, beds super comfy, home is just homey with many updates! Front porch is what sold me, so peaceful. Will def be returning! Loved our time in Grindstone!!!

Peaceful and beautiful

The property was exactly what we needed for our small group. It is very, very clean and very well maintained. Many updates have been made and it was a very comfortable place to stay. Coffee on the deck and the short walk to lKe were so peaceful.

Relaxing get away!!!

The property was as advertised. Very clean and well decorated. The location was perfect, nice quiet area close to the lake, several stores, and not far from downtown Port Austin. The check in and check out process was super simple. The property owner/manager was friendly and helpful as well. We would book and stay here again!

Returning guests

This was the third time we rented this cozy place. It is perfect for relaxing and staying away from the crowd but only a quick 5-10 mins drive to Port Austin downtown area. My teenager loves going out fishing and appreciates the big TV! He can also hook up his game console so in case of a rainy day kids stay occupied. I love the well equipped kitchen that really helps with convenience and keeps the food bill down. The beach is very close, we can go kayaking too and I enjoy sitting on the large covered patio reading and having coffee. We also enjoyed fire roasted marshmallow and the tabletop grill is great too. This place has really become our favorite vacation spot because it's so cozy and Jeanne is the best host

Clean and Relaxing

I was impressed with how clean it was. Everything was as stated. A very large screen TV and 2 couches! The beds was comfy and we all enjoyed our stay!!

Not a private getaway

The mobile home itself was nice and clean. There were 4 of us staying for a week. The listing says supplies toilet paper, garbage bags and a stocked kitchen. We were left 3 rolls of tp, one garbage bag (which was in the can) . No biggie, went and got my own. The next day (Monday) at about 7:40 owner pulls into property with a tow truck to get one his pieces of equipment off the property,backing in no less (beep-beep-beep). The wife came by shortly after that and asked if we needed anything. I’m not one to complain, said no we’re all set,thanks. The husband was by at least 3 more times after that for various reason. Dropping off picnic tables, picking up or dropping something off. They were there everyday multiple times a day. I know this area very well and it’s a busy area with the harbor across the street. However, I don’t think the owners should be working on a property that they are renting out.

Very nice, conveniently located place to vacation

We enjoyed our stay! It was very hot, so the air conditioning was great. The beds are comfortable and the appliances modern and clean. The giant TV was enjoyed in the evenings! It's much bigger than the one pictured. (New pics should be uploaded) It's a short walk over to the lake, however we really wished there were some benches to sit on to enjoy the view. The home is close to many beaches/parks. We most enjoyed going over to see the Petroglyphs and the Thumb Octagon Barn, which were an easy drive to go visit. If you go to get ice cream at the General Store, keep in mind a single is actually a double and a half!!

Peaceful and convenient

Nice quiet place that was out of the way but close to things to do. Jeanne was attentive and very helpful with all our needs to include booking us for an extra night at the last minute. Great place with a large deck and yard.

We were very happy with our stay. The place is well kept and spacious There is a large deck and plenty of yard space for BBQ and relaxing. Jeanne was very welcoming and kept us informed about everything we needed to know in a timely manner. We would definitely stay here again.

Great place in a great location

We had a great time here despite setbacks such as car trouble and lack of fish for my husband to catch ;-). The place was clean and tidy, has a lovely covered porch, and we could walk across the road to the lake. The sunrises were wonderful. Our hosts were very responsive and helpful, since we arrived later than expected (due to the car breaking down on the way there!). The area is very pretty, and there are 2 restaurants within walking distance. The rental has everything you could think of, the WIFI was great (always important these days). We will definitely be returning next year.

Vacation

My family and I came here for a weekend getaway. Not only is the location right across the street from Lake Huron, but the owners were rockstars. They had things for us to use, they left a detailed message on what we had in the home and things to do around town. Definitely would stay here again.

Loved it!

We LOVED this property! We could sit and enjoy a fire and look to one side and see Lake Huron. The yard was huge with lots of room for us to hang out and play with our dog. The house was so clean and tidy and had everything we really needed. The general store around the corner had amazing ice cream and we were about 30 minutes from the heart of the cheeseburger festival! Great place overall, would definitely recommend and visit again!

Good Family Getaway

This was a great location to be close to family that has a place in the area. It has been updated and had all of the amenities we needed for our stay. The owner was great to communicate with and quick to respond with any questions. The large covered front porch was wonderful when it was raining and we could still be outside.

Short Summer Vacation

My wife Chris, I, and our son David stayed here during the second week of July 2021 and had a great time. The little trailer is really nice inside, clean, and with a great covered porch. We found basically everything we needed for our stay. Ray & Jeanne checked on us to make sure we were had everything we needed as well. We really enjoyed our time and the location (right across from the Grindstone boat launch). We'll be back if the opportunity presents itself for sure. It's a great location and also pretty quiet and peaceful (at least it was during midweek when we stayed - which is exactly what we wanted). Great Time - Thanks!
