This was our second stay here. It’s quiet, isolated in the woods, but close to Platte lake public access, river float rental, nice Lake Michigan beaches, and trails in sleeping bear dunes national seashore. The Manatou restaurant is right down the road, and downtown Frankfort is about 20 minutes away. The king bed is comfortable, the kitchen small but functional, the air conditioning works great, and it’s dog friendly! Check in/out is easy, and the host is responsive to inquiries.I would stay again if we are back in the area.

My Daughter and I go on trips up north every year, sometimes twice a year. We have stayed many places. This stay was great close to a lot of things we wanted to do. St Ambrose Cellars is our favorite stop and it was close by.

This place is an absolute gem. The kitchen is so stocked with spices and cooking stuff. The beds are super comfy and clean. The bathroom is huge and spotless. The location is so private and wooded. Everything is ideal. It's a short drive to the lighthouse for amazing sunsets, to the dunes for hiking and sight seeing. 10/10 recommend.

This property was perfect for our long weekend. The cabin was exceptionally clean with all the amenities we needed. The kitchen was well stocked with all the dishes, pots, pans, utensils etc that we needed to cook all our meals. It was cold and rainy outside one day to warrant trying the fireplace, which warmed the cabin up in no time. Extremely pleased with our stay and looking forward to coming back!

My husband and I booked our reservation at Serenity Woods Cottage to celebrate our anniversary, my husband’s impending retirement and my recent clean scan after treatment for breast cancer. We were hoping for a serene, peaceful opportunity to decompress and recenter our lives after a tumultuous year. We could not have found a more perfect place than SWC. It was everything we hoped for and so much more. The cottage was immaculate and beautifully decorated. It contained every item and convenience we could possibly imagine. It is situated in an area that provides for many beautiful and interesting excursions while, at the same time, offers complete tranquility in the cottage itself. The house was very welcoming. Soft music playing and the gas fireplace on. Nestled among the trees it was really very serene. The house was pristine. I will definitely consider renting again.

Spring Vacation
We had a great week exploring the Spring sites in and around the Sleeping Bear area. The house was very clean, quiet and cozy; perfect for our stay. Much nicer bath and kitchen than similar places we’ve stayed in the area.

Great cottage
This was our second stay at Serenity Cottage and just as great as the first! Clean and comfortable, nice linens and kitchen, and easy access to Sleeping Bear.

Located conveniently outside of Frankfort

Brother and Sister owners, John Jury and Michy McGrath are natives to the suburbs of Chicago. John moved to Traverse City with his wife and son in 2015. John is a leasing manager for a local property management company. John Lives on the amazing Boardman River and owns and manages several vacation rentals.
Michy is a mother of 3 amazing boys. Residing in North Aurora IL, she lives with her husband Vince. Michy has a background in accounting. John and Michy purchased Serenity woods after it was newly built in October of 2019.

Serenity woods is all about the appreciation of being in the middle of a natural setting. With room to have family and friends together in one area. The Cottage is really something you would not expect as a cottage in Northern Michigan. It is a modern, and open floor plan. The Sleeping cabin provides some extra space for guests. It is a 120 year old cabin that was moved to the property. It has been completely remodeled, has a bathroom and kitchenette. It has the true cabin feel. It is available to registered guests of Serenity woods who need accommodations of up to 10.
