Friends Trip

Enjoyed the property and the stay. The only complaint we had was al lack of pot for cooking. We were 4 couples that enjoy cooking meals. It was a struggle, but we managed.

Great Louisville Getaway

This property was clean and nicely appointed. We were a group of 8 adults and the house worked great for our group. Close to all Louisville attractions.

Repeat Guests - Love this House!!

This is our second stay at The Churchill Backside and it was fabulous, again! The house is incredibly well stocked and has all the amenities you’d need for a comfortable stay. I love the extra touches like oscillating fans in each room and high thread count sheets. Highly recommend!

Great Spot!

Overall a great layout, easy parking and check in process. The location leaves a little to be desired if you aren't specifically going for Churchill Downs. Overall property was clean and well stocked with linens, soap, and coffee which was appreciated!

Churchill House

The house was great! The house was fully set up with everything needed to stay away from home. We had a great time and the location was good for our convention that was held at the Convention Center in Louisville. The host was quick to answer any questions.

Long weekend with relatives

Awesome place. Close enough to downtown to make for easy trips to/from dinner. Also just far enough away to shave off a little time for several distillery tours we did. Home was absolutely perfect for the 4 of us, exceptional/intuitive security system, squeaky clean, simple parking, great outside area. Great fit for us

Excellent!

This property is spectacular ! It is even better than the pictures. Everything is top notch. Plenty of to, paper towel, soap, everything. Kitchens well equipped. Communication was so easy and the location is amazing. Will definitely try to stay here again!!!

Perfect rental for exploring the Bourbon Trail or Churchill Downs

We recently stayed at this property for a bourbon trail trip and it was perfect. The house was clean and stocked with everything we needed. It was close to Churchill Downs and just a short drive to downtown, making it an ideal base for exploring Louisville. The host was very responsive and was even kind enough to mail us an item we left behind. We highly recommend this property!

Great House for Couples Getaway

Great house for our 4 couples to stay at for touring The Kentucky Bourbon Trail. Close enough to downtown, walking distance to Churchill Downs and Kentucky Derby Museum. Very clean!! Buff was very responsive with our questions before our trip, and she was very responsive while there. Had a little hiccup with the heater which she saw to very quickly and even left us a nice bottle of bourbon for our inconvenience. Gave only a 4 star for location and neighborhood due to looks of nearby houses and yards. Overall, a great experience and I would recommend this house for couples' getaway!!

Good spot for a home base for bourbon trail

Great place to stay if you need to do an event at the University or visit downtown Louisville. But a great homebase to go any direction you need to go for the bourbon trail. The host could not have been easier to work with. She answered all of my questions in a timely manner, and the house has everything.

Beautifully Renovated Historic Home

We loved all the room! We used both the upper and lower units and it was great. The bedrooms are large with comfy beds and beautiful decorating. 4 bathrooms are not an easy find for vacation rentals so this was a PLUS. I can't say enough about this great house, we loved that they remodeled, but kept the brick walls in tack, keeping the historic vibe. The parking in back was a great feature. I think the house is actually better than the pictures portray. You won't be disappointed in renting this house. We will definitely rent again if we come to Louisville!!

Nice Stay, Perfect Hospitality

The property was in good condition, clean, and comfortable. We had both floors, and it was big enough to host 3 couples upstairs OR down. Buff communicated everything promptly and we had a flawless stay. Full disclosure, this property is the best one amongst the neighboring properties. But it was conveniently located, especially if you're going for the Derby or any other Churchill Downs activities.

Kentucky Getaway

Our group of 8 stayed at this lovely location. The house was very clean and all the amenities were described as listed. The house was located within 5 minutes of Churchill Downs. The check in and out process was very easy and my correspondence with the owner was very easy. We weren't very far from downtown and restaurants. Thank you for opening your home to us.

Fabulous house, great location!

We stayed at this house for a club volleyball weekend with our daughters and another family. It was a close drive to the Expo center and the Louisville baseball field where we were able to catch a game. My favorite experience was seeing the Churchhill Downs lights early in the morning from the top deck of the house. We were so close that we could smell the morning hay that was being fed to the horses. Very cool!! Thank you Buff and Mary!!

Friends wedding

This property is stunning!! Duplex with easy access to both levels, all the amenities and super freaking clean!! Close to the campus of Louisville, within 15 min drive of downtown and some awesome neighborhoods!! Had a couple of questions that were answered immediately and they even purchased a pack n play for my niece to sleep in. Property says it’s not child proof but the downstairs level was perfect for a 18 month old to have room to play.

The place was fairly nice and clean except for mold on one of the shower curtains. It was stocked with the amenities that were listed and nice to have both a coffee pot and keurig. If you are going to Churchhill Downs it’s definitely the place to stay otherwise it’s not in a great location for exploring Louisville unless you are driving. Our party was hoping to walk for dinner and night life but there wasn’t anything close which I was told when I had inquired prior to booking. That being said we persevered and ended up driving and ubering for the four days. All in all it ended up being a very nice time!

Nicely Appointed Accommodations

Everyone loved the nicely renovated house. Having both floors allowed for plenty of room for our group of 3 couples. (You can rent the floors individually.) The amenities were plentiful, bathrooms had everything you needed and the kitchens were well stocked with all the things you would need to cook. The host even provided some snacks, which helped the couple who flew into Louisville and hadn't gone to the store yet. 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms meant no couple had to share, privacy was very nice. The location was convenient to many of the area's nice restaurants and Louisville's "things to do". It was really cool to see the backside of Churchill Downs, where the stables and Jockey's quarters are. Wish there had been a race coming up to have actually been able to see the hustle and bustle of the place. We plan on coming back in a few years, if the place is still available, and look forward to seeing the neighborhood become the "place to be" for just doing the Bourbon trail (like our group did) or to be close to the races.

I have lived in Louisville all my life and grew up watching my mom and dad with her sisters in hats go to The Derby! Then out to a locally owned restaurant for dinner. Fast forward and the traditions continue! Louisville is a great place to live and fun place to visit. We enjoy all the local restaurants, outdoor activities, sports, concerts plus The Bourbon Trail. My husband and I enjoyed renovating The Backside from an empty shell and bringing it back to life as a Vacation Rental in 2018. We are excited to host and look forward to your visit! Buff
