This duplex is located on a safe, charming street 2 blocks from Lake Merritt, and 10 minutes to Bart, Oakland Museum of California and all the shops on Grand Ave and Lakeshore (Safeway, Trader Joes, CVS, Peets, and many more). Visit the Oakland Spice Shop and cook in our fully equipped kitchen with high-end appliances or step outside to all the amazing restaurants that surround the lake. Walk to Bart or rent a FORD GOBIKE or Scooter (LIME & BIRD) available throughout the lake. Off street parking is available for your rental or pick up Zip Car from several locations around the lake. Bosch washer/dryer available in the unit with baby-clean feature.

This unit is on a second floor so there are 16 stairs to a private flat. All dark bamboo floors with wonderful space rugs throughout. Wine fridge available for the perfect temperature next to a build-in desk for all those working in or attending conferences in SF, Oakland or vacationing.

Sunny-Bright Master bedroom features a queen size bed and ELFA closet system for your extended stay. second bedroom has a twin bed and trundle, perfect for one adult/child or extend the trundle to fit 2 adults or kids. Remodeled bathroom with marble floors.

Carlos' place was fantastic and by far the best place we've stayed in Oakland.It's beautifully decorated, well equipped and very comfortable.The location near Lake Merritt was perfect for us while we were visiting family.Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Phenomenal place. Location can't be beat, space was great and more kid-friendly than anywhere we've stayed. Really felt like staying at a friend's place rather than a pseudo-hotel experience like most nowadays. Host was great too in communicating and helping with some of our special requests. We come to Oakland regularly and this will be our first choice for where to stay, going forward.

We found the view of the garden quite peaceful as we ate breakfast each morning. The kids enjoyed reading the many books and playing the games during their downtime. Beds were comfy and bathroom was clean. Carlos was friendly and responsive. We look forward to staying here again.

We all absolutely loved this property. I just about had to drag my sister in law out of it. Very comfortable with a nice walkable distance to the lake. The decor is absolutely lovely and it is much bigger than I expected. Easy trips via ride share into and out of San Francisco. The owners are very responsive. We will definitely book again if we travel back that way.

Great house and great location! Was in town with two of my kids to visit family and loved the house. My kids loved the outside kitties that visited on the porch also!

Great location for Oakland visit to see my son. Loved the uniqueness of Carlos’ place. Lovely neighborhood to just walk around in and admiring the care and work people put into their gardens. Close to Lake Merrit and restaurants in the east bay. Took the BART into the city for Chinese New Year parade and a show.

Perfect location

Walking distance to Lake, stores, theaters, downtown and restaurants. Beautifully decorated and clean. Would definitely stay there again.

Beautiful artistic home

Great place to stay. A lot of living space for a family to spread out. Also had designated parking which is a huge bonus if arriving late.

We had a great time in Carlos's amazing place. It was clean, beautiful and in a great location. Carlos was truly a super host, helpful and kind and his taste in furnishings was awesome. Highly recommended!

Amazing 5 Days in Oakland

Our stay in Oakland was wonderful! The place is beautiful, peaceful and very comfortable. Location is great. It was walkable and safe. Carlos is easy to communicate with, accommodating and hospitable. We would stay here again in a second.

Wonderful

As always, a great place to stay! Carlos is a wonderful host and his upstairs apartment is comfortable and amazingly decorated and equipped. Love staying here. It is close to our daughter’s apartment which makes it super handy for us when we visit Oakland. Thanks again Carlos!

Lovely California Christmas

We came west to celebrate a family holiday. This place could not have been more perfect. It had the best outfitted kitchen I have ever encountered at a vacation rental. It was comfortable, spacious, tasteful, and convenient. The whole process was seamless.

Hello...My name is Carlos, I own WeBeBop a women's apparel company which specializes in large sizes. My wife is Katherine and she works for UC's Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Our son Leo is in 10th grade. He loves math and science, is on a water polo team and practices capoeira. We are all foodies, and love to cook and travel, garden, and do outdoor activities and urban adventures.

My wife and I both grew up in Southern California and moved to the SF Bay Area to attend UC Berkeley. We have lived in Oakland for around 20 years and love the area! We would be happy to share a our tips about restaurants and things to do.

Location, location, location...We love our home because it's in the heart of everything. Originally one house built in 1912, we have spent the last 15 years transforming this place into an amazing, arty duplex.

Being able to walk everywhere is awesome. Being by the lake, "the jewel of Oakland," offers walking/running paths and a picnicking scene. We are close to lovely shopping districts with local eateries, shops, a historic movie theater, and the Saturday Farmers' Market. And if you have young kids we are walking distance to Fairyland, a charming, historic amusement park.

Our house has many wonderful unique features...Like the two Balinese statues in the front, the dark bamboo floors, the denim wall, and lots of sunshine! You will feel as if your staying in a magical tree house.

This house has been a labor of love for our entire family.
