Great Beach Cottage, 8-12 minute walk to Beaches

Our small cottage is free standing in a group of five located between Easton's Beach (1st Beach, Newport) and Sachuest Beach (2nd Beach, Middletown), on Purgatory Road right on the Middletown/Newport line.
Artfully decorated in the Aloha Style and renovated with a new kitchen, laundry and unique pebbled floor beach bath as well a private outdoor shower and fireplace. The living room is equipped with a small flat screen TV, a DVD player, a stereo and WiFi.
There are 2 bedrooms as shown. Due to local ordinances, the maximum capacity is limited to 3 adults; may have one additional child 12 years of age or under as a 4th person.
The cottage is small and cozy at ~620 square feet.
Walk down to either beach (8 minutes to closest end of 1st/Easton's beach and 12 minutes to closest end of 2nd/Sachuest beach) or take a 5-10 minute drive or more leisurely bike ride downtown.
The property has dedicated parking for 2 cars, and a private hedge enclosed yard for your summer cookouts and relaxation.
If you prefer to dine out take a stroll down to Aquidneck Ave. for restaurants within walking distance, or take a short drive or bike ride to Thames street for an variety of eclectic dining, shopping and nightlife spots.
We have outdoor furniture, a gas grill, ice chests, and beach chairs for your use.
If you are looking for a quiet relaxing getaway this is the place for you, however if you are looking to have many visitors or party, this is not. Sorry, no pets allowed.
We will provide sheets, blankets, pillows and towels.

6 night minimum rental period Memorial Day to Labor Day, in summer Saturday or Sunday turnovers strongly preferred. 3 night minimum for non-peak season rentals.

Perfect Week by the Sea - 6 stars!

This is the coziest, most fun spot for a relaxing beach holiday and a great location for exploring near-by Newport. The 'Surf Shack' vibe is an imaginative delight.

Wonderful getaway!

We stayed for 4 nights in September. The cottage was just as advertised and we were very comfortable. Lynn was very responsive to questions. The kitchen was stocked incredibly well and anything we needed was available. The location was perfect since it was only about 1 mile to the Cliff Walk, 2 to downtown Newport and very close to the nature preserve. Thank you for letting us stay in the cottage for our Newport visit!

Fantastic Coastal Vacation

Great property, with beneficial amenities (bbq, outdoor shower etc), a host with outstanding communication skills, and an area with activities from secluded beaches, harbor side restaurants, art galleries, and nature reserves. Highly recommended.

Surfer Shack

My husband and I completely enjoyed our week at “the Shack.” The listing and comments are accurate. We relaxed, had lovely beach time and enjoyed learning so much more about surfing through our hosts’ library. The queen bed is very comfortable and it was a perfect spot close to everything Newport has to offer.

Beach Cottage Stay

Wonderful Stay

Everything was perfect and described as is! Great beach vibe. Nice sea breeze. Clean and convenient. Location is great other than being up on the road and the sound of passing cars, which we expected. Would definitely rent again!

Cute cottage close to great stuff!

There’s a lot to like about the property (great proximity to attractions, comfy beds, cute backyard with grill and fireplace, fun stuff for the beach and kids, walk-in shower, very nice washer and dryer) but also a few things that could use a little improvement (task lighting in the kitchen, more comfortable seating in living room (the MCM chairs are cool but also low/kind of slippery upholstery), smoke detector activated by opening bathroom doors following a shower although bath exhaust fan was running, fewer decorative items on flat surfaces in LR and twin bedroom). We were a group of three adults (two in their 80’s). The parking and pulling out onto Purgatory Rd. was a bit tricky in our rental subcompact SUV but manageable. Perhaps less so if one drove a larger SUV or van. Overall, a very good stay in a cute house and a very responsive owner!

We loved staying at this cute house. The location was very nice, safe, and convenient to what we wanted to do. The house was close to several beaches and one was in walking distance. It was a Quiet neighborhood We would love to stay here again if we go to Rhode Island

Great location! Perfect size for a small family to stay with a quick drive to downtown Newport and walking distance to Second Beach which is excellent. Can even walk to the Newport Cliff Walk!

Cozy beach cottage

This cottage was perfect for our two-week stay. It is exactly as described in the listing and looks just like the photos. Check-in and check-out were easy, and our hosts were welcoming and responsive. It was small yet comfortable for our group of three. Nice AC in the bedrooms and a quick walk to the beach, as well as to various restaurants. We loved it and would come back again!

Adorable beach cottage

The property is adorable. It’s very small, but was a good size for our family of 3. The location was super convenient and when we did have a small issue, owners were prompt with responses. Just know this truly is a little bungalow and probably wouldn’t be great for more than 4 people.

Great cottage by the beach

The cottage was perfect for us. The hosts took care of every litter detail so we didn't have to bring anything. They had beach chairs, beach buggy, plenty of beach towels, coolers, sand toys and anything else we needed. the cottage was the perfect size with a great backyard and very close to the beach. Easy to get to downtown newport. The hosts were responsive when we had questions.

Cute bungalow!

4 adults shared the cottage. Hosts communication was fantastic, check-in so easy, everything we needed was provided. Easy access to beaches, downtown Newport, Cliff Walk. Cozy space inside, outdoor space was fantastic. Wish we had more time to enjoy it (wedding festivities kept us busy). Would def recommend this cottage.

cute small place perfect for a couple to stay and enjoy. The back yard was nice to hangout in and cook out on the grill. Within walking distance of several restaurants. Quick drive to Newport to do shopping and activities.

Clean, quiet and cozy

Lynne was highly accommodating of us arriving earlier and was exceedingly communicative throughout our stay. The property was very clean and the neighborhood was wonderfully quiet. While the property is close to a busy road , the cottage itself is quiet with the windows closed. We loved the outdoor shower!

Loved our SurfShack getaway

Pleaaure and Easy to deal with- Lynne was always helpful in our interactions. Had a couple things not go exactly well ie Refrigerator stopped working. (It was new) but Lynne was very quick to get it serviced and help us out with the inconvenience of it. Great location. Great place to bring our bikes. Super cool decor with retro surfer memorabilia and accents. Clever use of space. With lots of great items to cook and make drinks. Really nice outdoor shower and small ambient lights surrounding small patio furniture was blissful.

Great place in great location

My husband and I stayed here for three nights. This adorable cottage is perfectly located between 1st and 2nd beaches. A short 5 minute drive from Newport. Decorated in Hawaiian surfer motif, complete with surf boards on the ceiling, and many unique and interesting tchotchkes everywhere! Very unique and homey. We really enjoyed the outdoor patio with a lovely fireplace and barbecue and lovely lighting. The kitchen is small but equipped with everything you might possibly need.Very comfortable beds and nice bedding! Small but efficient bathroom and also an outdoor shower! We absolutely loved staying here and will definitely make it our go to place when we visit Newport!

Loved it!

The cottage was very cute. It was well maintained and well stocked. Great communication from the host. The cottage is walking distance to the beach. There are a few restaurants within walking distance. The neighborhood is quiet, although the street is a but busy. Overall, an excellent stay with great hosts!

Lynne grew up in RI, Gary is from San Antonio- now we live in Boston with our daughter Lyla- when the cottage is rented out we still love to visit the Newport/Middletown area in our Airstream!
