Enjoy a stay in this sweet little Northwoods Studio Cottage nestled in the Superior National Forest, between Lutsen and Grand Marais. A comfy queen bed, open floor plan and a beautiful, cobblestone fireplace make this a lovely and cozy little spot to relax and take in all that Cook County has to offer.

A fully stocked kitchen and an open floor plan make this a great spot to hang out and prepare some meals together. Little Loon also has a lovely patio with table and chairs for dining outside surrounded by the boreal forest.

Little Loon is Perfect!

Little Loon was exactly what we needed. We had planned a kid free ski weekend and Little Look had everything you’d need and nothing you didn’t. A super cozy and well stocked cabin 10 minutes from Lutsen. Private and on a cool piece of property where you could hear the waves. Would recommend and definitely be back!

Anniversary Weekend Away

We had an amazing time at the Little Loon Cottage. The space was clean and cozy, and very quiet. It is a perfect little house tucked in the corner of the woods with the lake just across the way. We can’t wait to stay again.

Two delightful nights.

We wanted a rustic cabin close to the waterfall hikes near Lake Superior. It proved to be a great location for that, and the cabin is very private and quaint. We loved it.

A quiet respite

This little cabin was wonderful! We could hear the waves lapping just a little ways off and wind in the trees. It was peaceful. We played games at the table and read books on the couch in the evenings. It was close to all the hiking we wanted to do. Our host provided us with some fall drive ideas to see the leaves changing and some spectacular views. We hopefully will have the opportunity to stay here again.

Cozy cabin

Great little cabin to come back to post adventures on the SHT. Warm fire and the comfiest bed I’ve ever slept in away from home.

Little Loon

This property was perfect. It was adorable. Had everything that we needed and some. Wonderful location to hit up some of the state parks. Our dog Miles enjoyed his stay! We will definitely be returning.

Cozy Cabin

We absolutely love Little Loon! We can bring our dogs, enjoy a fire, and it's close to Grand Marais as well as many hikes. It's comfortable and well stocked.

Great Cozy Cabin for 2

It is a very cute little studio, with a great fireplace to get nice and toasty. It is in a perfect location as a base to venture out to a lot of trails. It had a pretty well stocked kitchen (we cooked twice without too much fuss), and it was very clean even with a woodpile and fireplace. We would love to come back in the winter and check out the surrounding xc ski trails. My partner absolutely loved the place too. It was wet and rainy so it was great to come back to and warm up with the fire. It lived up to everything promised for an old fashioned cabin, with enough modern updates and conveniences to make it very comfortable.

Winter get away

We enjoy the trails in and around Lutsen and Grand Marais and Little Loon is located in the perfect spot. This was our second stay as it’s just a great cozy little cottage for the two of us and our little Border Terrier, Sophie.

Great little cabin

We came up to Little Loon for a week long stay, it was the perfect honeymoon destination for my wife and I. Cozy little cabin with lots to do in the area! Absolutely loved our stay!

Loon Cottage

Cozy cottage, perfect for the two of us and our little dog. We enjoyed coming “home” after a day of sightseeing. I brought sewing and reading, but with the cloudy weather, lighting in the cottage was not adequate. Next time, I’ll bring a small lamp.

Fall colors

We stayed in Little Loon - our second visit to the north country cottages- in the woods to enjoy all the amazing walks, sights and sounds of the North Shore. The cabin is so conveniently close to grand Marais one of our favorite small towns to visit. The cabin is quaint and cozy with a fabulously remodeled bathroom. The fire is ready to go on arrival and sitting by the cobble fireplace is wonderfully relaxing. The hosts are super responsive and we would recommend staying here.

Adorable cabin

Adorable cabin in a quiet area between lutsen and grand marais. Perfect place for a mom and me get away. They even had a doggie blanket for our pup!

Mountain Bike weekend

We were in town for the Lutsen 99er and this cabin was perfect! The working fireplace was so cozy and the cabin is cute, clean and comfortable. It’s labeled as a studio but there was more than enough room and it didn’t feel small at all.

Third Stay at Little Loon

I've stayed in Lutsen three times over the last 13 months, each time picking North Country Cottages, and each time, I've stayed in Little Loon. I love this place, it's so well run and the perfect escape from the hustle of the cities. Carl and Danni truly care about these cottages and it shows in how they care for them and the people that stay at North Country. I can't speak highly enough of this cottage in particular. It's perfect for 1-2 people. It has everything you would need and it provides a great place to rest and recharge the batteries. I will be back. And check out the gift shop, the candles are amazing and they have great art work too.

Cozy Home Away From Home

We love the little loon! Perfect for anyone looking for a studio cabin to rest and relax after a day of adventures or to cozy up in front of the fireplace for a retreat away from the hustle and bustle. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a new favorite place to stay!

Ski trip

My husband and I stayed at Little Loon for a couple nights. It was the perfect base camp for skiing at Lutsen Mountains and exploring nearby State parks. The fireplace and full kitchen was a hit! Thanks for sharing this awesome little cabin.

Cozy little Loon

We stayed at the Iittle loon cabin for 3 nights! What a wonderful little cabin! The hosts Danni and Carl had thought of all the little details even down to a blanket for the 4 legged family members! The cabin is very well furnished, with everything you need and then some! Nice shower with very hot water and amazing pressure! Even the tap water tasted amazing! Loved the wood burning fireplace, kept a fire going practically the whole time we were there! We also were able to see a family of deer gazing on the property. Thanks Danni and Carl for being pet friendly and for allowing us to spend time at your amazing cabin! We plan to experience you other properties too! Thanks Deb and Marilyn

Weekend in the woods! Fall edition

We were so excited to get to complete another stay at the Little Loon! We stayed here in January for a romantic getaway and we’re finally able to come back for a quick fall trip! We feel like we are at home at the Little Loon. We spent the days hiking, exploring and looking for agates. We spent the nights reading and play games by the fire. My parents were staying nearby as they had their first North Shore experience with us. They came by the Little Loon for cards and pizza. My parents were extremely impressed and are hoping to rent a cabin next year! We are planning to come back for my birthday in April. We just love the Little Loon and hope to make a yearly trip.

Can Only Say Great Things

I can only say amazing things about my stay at North Country Cottages. It's a perfect little escape from the business of the metro area. It's quiet, peaceful, and I was especially drawn to Little Loon with knowing how at least one album was recorded there by one artist and likely another artist wrote several songs there. Plus, Danni and Carl are absolute sweethearts, are always reachable, and genuinely love what they do and care about the cottages. I will be back! Dave

Perfect Northwoods Stay

The cottage had everything we needed and just that. Easy to find things and was comfortable. The bed was comfortable. We liked the one room living and patio helped us with extra boots and shoes as it was April and a lot of mud. Owners provided new sponge for sink! And dog dishes plus a clean doggie blanket. Also there was a recycle bo which we don’t always see when traveling. We spent 4 nights at the cabin and it was a great location to get other places easily. Good quiet street that made us feel away and also great walking for our dog right out the door.
