Escape the crowds and unwind at Prime Hook Beach, a hidden gem on the Delaware Bay just off Route 1. Conveniently located near Rehoboth and Lewes, this peaceful retreat offers a natural beach with gentle waves and a gradual slope—perfect for kids and dogs to swim safely. Spend your days searching for seashells, spotting horseshoe crabs, or simply relaxing by the water.

Our home backs onto a beautiful wildlife refuge, providing a serene backdrop for your stay, with sandy beach access just steps away across the quiet residential street.
Our home offers the perfect blend of comfort and coastal charm, featuring 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, and an open-concept floor plan with water views from every window. The sleeping arrangements include two bedrooms with queen sized beds and one bedroom with full over full bunk beds. The house sleeps 6 total.

The fully equipped kitchen includes a large fridge, gas stove, full dishwasher and a spacious toaster oven (fits a casserole dish or pizza). Please note: we do not have a full oven. We provide all pots, pans, dishes, and serving ware, along with a drip coffee maker and Keurig—plus coffee, creamer, and sugar to get you started! You may even fire up the gas grill on the side deck and enjoy a cookout!

Bring your furry friend—our home and the beach are dog-friendly! We kindly ask that you clean up after your pet and keep them on a leash when outside.

Cozy beach house

Wonderful and practical, this space was perfect for us. Nice open layout and great view of the wildlife refuge from 2 bedrooms; you can also see DE Bay from the front of the house. Beautiful sunsets, easy walk to the beach and very quiet this time of year (Dec).

Very Comfortable Home!

Our first trip to Prime Hook in the Fall and first time renting this house. It was exactly as described online which is always a relief! Prime Hook is spectacular in the Fall. The house has beautiful views in the back over the Marsh and the Preserve. The stars were just spectacular at night. A bonus is that you also have a pretty good view of the Delaware Bay out the front especially off the little deck on side of house. It's very well appointed and decorated. Christine, the owner, is extremely responsive to any questions and issues. All in all a very good experience!

Beautiful rental and amazing hosts

We chose October to stay at this beautiful rental for a couple of reasons- Black flies are usually fewer and the beaches are less crowded. The hosts are wonderful at communicating if needed, cupboards are stocked with many of the basics, all linens and towels are provided. We used the porta crib for my 9 month old grandson. The Bay behind the house is amazing, we watched the sunset from the deck and the beach and ocean is right across the street. All in all, we definitely recommend this property!!

Very Relaxing and all the anemities

We had a great time and didn't have the hassle of bringing sheets, towels, baby pack-n-play or highchair. There were spices and even coffee. So nice to have all the luxeries without the extra baggage. Beautiful views from the front and the back and such a private street with no worries of traffic. I felt at home and even my dog was welcome!

Quiet, Relaxation Perfect Retreat

Perfect home to relax and enjoy nature. Beautiful sunsets, quiet and friendly neighborhood. Access to the bay beach is directly across the street. If your looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the beach traffic and crowds this is the home for you.

Beautiful views and beach

Loved the views of the water from the deck. Lots of wildlife. A very short walk to the beach which was great. Our family and dogs had a great visit!

Bayside Retreat

We loved our stay at the Bayside Retreat! Chris thought about every convenience you could have to make a comfortable stay. We loved the grill and having such a wonderful view from the back deck where we spent a lot of our time. My daughter and I really enjoyed the bay and all the wildlife at the refuge. We explored Milton and Lewes and had a great time!

Had a bit of bad luck....

First off, the property owners were very attentive and easy to communicate with. They kept in touch for the duration of the trip. We had a last minute surprise addition of a family member and it was no issue with the owners. Next, the property was in a charming little neighborhood which is very quiet and calm. No through traffic whatsoever. The views from the property were absolutely stunning and peaceful. The back porch is a perfect place to watch the birds and relax. Next, the house itself was as described. There were lots of items available for use. There was plenty of room for our family. Lots of kids toys available that my kids loved playing with. The kids bunk beds were super comfortable. Views from the 2 back bedrooms were breathtaking. Lastly, we had horrible luck the week we stayed here. Apparently if there is a certain breeze, the beach becomes swarmed with biting greenhead flies. These were so aggressive that we couldnt spend more than a few moments on the beach without being bitten over and over. Huge welts. This honestly made the trip pretty miserable since the main point was to go to the beach. We ended up booking a few nights further down the coast just to spend a few days on the beach and try to salvage the trip. I know this is iust the luck of nature so obviously theres nothing anyone could have done to avoid or prevent this.

Great summer get away

This is the 3rd time we have stayed here. We love it!! My son could wake up and head over to the beach and fish his heart out. I loved drinking my coffee on the back porch and a glass of wine in the evening. The sunsets are beautiful. The host is great and will respond quickly. We were close to be able to enjoy some waterslides, shopping, and great seafood. Will be going back!!

Lifetime Memories

This home is so cozy and well stocked. I found things that I did not expect which is great if you forgot something. The highlight is the deck and view of the refuge. Spectacular sunsets! On day of departure, kids had a mishap and there was no time to make it right before leaving. Christine was so understanding. Thank you. I hope to return next season!

Perfect getaway spot

The house was even better than advertised. Perfect location with bay views and a beach across the street where my dog continued to live his best life. Short drive to stores, restaurants, and activities away from the beach but you could just bring all your supplies and stay at the house for the entire stay.

Beautiful comfortable retreat

The location is perfect. You couldn’t ask for a more relaxed way to spend vacation: away from crowds and surrounded by nature. We really appreciate how well appointed the home is, beautifully furnished and stocked with everything you need. They even had fragrance free laundry detergent 😍 The cleanliness decreased since our last stay but perhaps a fluke with the cleaning crew. There are a few small maintenance items that need to be resolved, for example the toilet paper bar is not attached to the wall in the bathroom, and the floor thresholds from hallway to bedrooms are loose. Minor annoyances in a fantastic house. We will be back!!

Pure relaxation

The location of this home is everything. Water views in all directions, a quiet secluded street, neighbors but great bars and restaurants are just 15 minutes away. I fell in love with the little town of Milton. We celebrated my son’s 1st birthday with a long weekend and it was just perfect for him. Slide the sofa over on the deck to block the exit and you have a baby proof play area while you kick back and relax. The beach was a little messy when we were there and it was rainy so he didn’t get to play in the sand but we enjoyed long walks and seeing all of the wildlife.

Wonderful weekend getaway

Loved our stay at this pretty house. Location is perfect. Tranquil bay on one side and short walk to the beach on the other. Lewes and Rehoboth within 15 minutes. The house had all the amenities we needed . We slept well on the beds and the showers had wall units of shampoo, conditioner and body wash. I'm already planning our next stay !

Best DE beach experience

My family has been going to the DE beaches every year for 6 years now. We have been to various beaches and stayed in very nice VRBO properties. But everyone agrees that this is by far the best experience we have had! I would highly recommend this property to everyone, including families with young children or a romantic retreat for a couple.

Wild and Wonderful

We happened to stay at the beach house during a wind and flood advisory, and we still loved it. We can't wait to go back. It was a beautiful and peaceful off-season retreat. The beaches and wildlife sanctuary make this a particular spot for wildlife lovers, but beautiful restaurants are just a drive away. I appreciate that the owners have bikes and kayaks available and that our fur babies were welcome! This is a GEM!!

Hi! We're Christine and Nick Fleming! We live in Northern Virginia with our three young children and our two dogs. Christine left her teaching job in 2017 to stay home to raise our children and handle our rentals and Nick is an Engineer. We feel so lucky to be able to share our home with all of you and thank you all for the support!

Location, location, location! We had never heard of Prime Hook before finding this home, but could not pass up the views and seclusion! Our children and dogs are able to run around on the beach and play in the water without fighting crowds. The short one minute walk to the beach is perfect to bring supplies back and forth. The sunsets from the back deck are spectacular and we've spent so much time making the inside of our home warm and inviting! We want you to feel like you are home from the moment you step in the door and hope you leave looking forward to your next trip back!

The view from the back of the house cannot be beat! We have some of the best sunsets and right across from the beach access. Our beach is a private, bay beach so you’ll never have to fight for a spot. Our bay beach is natural so you will find many great shells and has no waves! Perfect place to swim or take the kayak out.
