Conveniently located close to BH, SWHBR, and Acadia. Great deck w/ firepit!
Nicely situated between the village center of Southwest Harbor with its charming shops and restaurants and nearby Long Pond and the western mountains of Acadia, Golden Cove Cottage offers its guests equal convenience to both the National Park and downtown amenities with its Seal Cove Road location. Whether by foot, bicycle, or car, venture just one-half mile to Main Street to reach the Charlotte Rhoades Butterfly Park with lovely gardens and water views and down a little further towards the village center to take in the programs and exhibits offered at the Wendell Gilley Museum. The many shops and restaurants of Southwest Harbor are also sure to delight and when you're ready for more adventure, head over to nearby Long Pond to enjoy hiking, fishing, boating, and swimming in the National Park. And once ready to explore Bar Harbor and the other areas of Acadia, just pop back to Main Street again to catch the free Island Explorer shuttle to reach the east side of Mt. Desert Island.
FIRST FLOOR: Enter into a generous front hall with a spacious Laundry room to the left. Large Living Room with comfortable seating and gas fireplace (available early spring and fall). Dining table with seating for six. French doors open to a sunny, private deck. The living room opens into a well-appointed kitchen with a breakfast bar and seating for two. A cozy bedroom offering a set of Twin beds is followed by a charming sunny bedroom with Queen bed. These two rooms share a bathroom with a shower only. The master bedroom with King bed and en suite bathroom offers a shower only. looks out onto the wooded area and deck. Excellent closet space throughout.
OUTDOOR SPACES: Furnished deck with a gas grill and fire pit offers a pleasant space for grilling, relaxing and dining outside.
EXTRAS: Air conditioning in the common living area and primary bedroom.
PETS: Pets are considered. Please review the pet policy in the rental agreement. The pet fee is $140/pet. Submit the age, weight, and breed with reservation request.

The location was perfect for us! We appreciated the closeness to Acadia national park, but really enjoyed being in a less busier place.

Pictures do not do the house justice. It is well equipped. The beds are extremely comfortable. The house is very clean. About 20 minutes to the Cadillac Mountain entrance. You’re about five minutes from Echo Lake, and just over five minutes to the harbor. We got to Bar Harbor in just over 25 minutes. Great for family time. Lots of games and plenty of room to sit and relax comfortably. There is an IGA grocery store fairly close that has pretty much everything you would need.

Lovely, clean, convenient house near Acadia NP
Beautiful place-stayed for a week with another couple and this home was perfect! Great kitchen, living space, comfortable beds, nice deck-the deer walk right by thru the yard.

Just what we needed
Easy rental process and a wonderful vacation house. Had everything we needed and wonderful amenities. Back porch with grill was exactly what we needed for this vacation

Great place
The place was clean and comfy. Management company was there to help if needed. One of the best VRBO experiences we have had.

Great quiet area
Great quiet home to return to after day of hiking and exploring. Home had plenty of towels, dishes and staples. Also included great patio area with plenty of seating.

Fun in the off season
Had a great stay in this house during the off season. Wonderful deck area. Close to tide pooling, which was the goal of our trip.

Great stay at Golden Cove Cottage
This home was perfect for our family of 6 adults. We found it to be just as advertised. There was plenty of space, cozy beds, a well equipped kitchen, and supplied with all the essentials.
The drive from Southwest Harbor to the main areas of the park is easy, but does take 20-30 mins. There are some nice hikes nearby and good restaurants in Southwest Harbor too.
Overall we loved our stay here and would recommend this home to others.

Hughes family visit!
This home was just lovely. It had everything we needed, including coffee to brew and a gift of blueberry jam and blueberry soda. It was in close proximity to numerous trails and mountains and my niece, who we went up there to visit. The home was clean, welcoming and just perfect for a family of 4 with a dog. Thank you for a lovely experience and long weekend getaway.

Perfect accommodations
We had a wonderful time on our first visit to Acadia National Park and found the quiet cottage to be perfect for our family of 5 adults and one little dog. It was immaculate, spacious, very comfortable with careful attention to what a visitor might need. We were especially pleased to find it well-stocked with linens, towels and even bathroom and kitchen supplies. The blueberry jam and blueberry soda greeting us were a sweet touch. Highly recommend.

5 stars all around
Have stayed in Ellsworth on a previous trip to Acadia, I really appreciated being so close to the park, with some trailheads being 5 minutes away. We were able to see and do so much! The check in and check out processes were smooth - the Knowles Company was so professional and easy to work with, and it is clear the homeowner put a lot of care and attention into their home. The beds were comfy and kitchen well equipped. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and already looking forward to my next trip to MDI!

Central Southwest Harbor!
We had a great two week stay here at this super convenient house in Southwest Harbor. The house had all that we could need to make for a very comfortable base camp to enjoy all that we love to do in Acadia! The kitchen was very fully stocked, and that was great for us as we don’t go out too much. Wish we could enjoy the back deck more, but didn’t have the best weather. A really great spot for active families who are busy in the day and come home to rest.

A Lovely Stay
My family (me, husband and two adult daughters) thoroughly enjoyed our stay in May 2023 at Golden Cove Cottage. The cottage was beautiful and peaceful. We enjoyed the privacy, the feeling of home, and the gorgeous outdoor space. We enjoyed sitting on the deck in the warm spring sun. Though we were there in the off-season, Southwest Harbor and all of Mount Desert Island and Acadia did not disappoint. It was our second trip to Acadia and we hope to get back some day! Thank you to our hosts for sharing their lovely home.
