Pono Kai Resort is located on oceanfront/beachfront property. Our 1 Bedroom Ocean view condo has a fully equipped kitchen, 1 bedroom and 1 full bathroom. The bedroom has a Queen size bed. There is also a pull out sleeper sofa in the living room, fully stocked with linens, towels, kitchen utensils, and appliances. We manage several condos at Pono Kai and guarantee unit size and view, not specific building or floor.

The resort is located in the historic town of Kapaa, Kauai. You can catch the sunrise in the morning over the Pacific Ocean or even see whales during migrating season. The resort is within walking distance of restaurants, boutiques, shopping and grocery stores.

The bathroom is furnished with starter soap, shampoo and conditioner, along with a hair dryer. There is an iron and ironing board within the unit as well.

The Pono Kai Resort has many amenities on site. Tennis, basketball, exercise room, shuffle board, horse shoes, mini golf, croquet court, board games, just to name a few. You can rent bicycles next door and we are located within 5 minutes from water activities such as; swimming, canoeing, kayaking, surfing, etc...

There are BBQ's located throughout the resort and laundry facilities located within each building.

The Pono Kai is a great resort where you can truly relax and enjoy all that the Garden island of Kauai has to offer. For all activities on the island, go check out the concierge desk or online BestKauaiTours.com to set up excursions before you arrive. Be sure to book early as activities fill up fast. Good times

We really enjoyed our stay. Activities & games and a pool were fun for the whole family. We had an ocean view condo which was pleasant. The place was well equipped.

Great Kauai Resort

Overall experience was excellent. Property manager was very helpful with good communication. While the property is older it is well maintained. Central location with stores and restaurants nearby.

Best location on island

My husband and I toured the entire island while we were there, we both agreed our location was a hidden gem. Beach was quiet, steps away from our door. The ground amenities was fabulous, lots to do at the condo for those who want a day off to relax. Walking distance to lots of shopping and restaurants. I would go back again. Great for all ages.

Good time share community

Overall, this place is good. Quiet area about 15-20 minutes from the airport and pretty centrally located to everything on the island. Only complaint, and reason I gave this four stars - The check in time was 1600 however at 1600 the front office said the room was not ready. They couldn't give me a time of when the room would be ready and we finally checked in at 1720. Besides this the stay was smooth, but a later than advertised check in time was slightly annoying.

The ocean front setting is the best part other wise the furnishings are dated and tired. The kitchen basic. The bedroom blackout curtains don’t totally block the hallway lights. Not excellent. There was no need to contact property manager.

Comfortable accommodations with an unbeatable view!

We have stayed at Pono Kai previously, so we knew what to expect. The property is immaculate, the gardens are so well maintained. The units themselves are clean and tidy, but do show some age and wear. There is very little soundproofing between the rooms, so bring ear plugs. The kitchen had all dishes and pans that we needed, and we cooked often. The only food/spices provided are salt and pepper. The mid-week clean was fast and much appreciated. The pool area checks out towels and games. Chairs, boogie boards, umbrellas, and snorkel gear are available from the Activities desk for 1, 3, or 7 day rental.

Lovely grounds

Enjoyed our stay despite the weather. Location great to get all over the island, a car is definitely needed. View and beach trail were beautiful. Wonderful Mexican restaurant right next door. We couldn’t get the A/C unit in living room to work but didn’t say anything since weather was cool enough and had sliding doors open most of the time. No a/c in bedroom, A fan was provided which was helpful since the room could get stuffy. The bedroom window opened up right at the outside staircase not providing for privacy or feel of safety. Well stocked kitchen. Sofa bed mattress needs replacing.

Pono Kai Stay

Bedroom doesn’t get much of the A/C as it’s at other end of condo. Also discovered the A/C is on a timer. The condo was very nice and great view of ocean shore. Quiet area and great walking distance to many stores, restaurants and activities. Great stay!

Good except for the couch. Couch needs to be replaced. The springs in the cushions are wearing out and make sitting or lying on the couch uncomfortable. The rest of our stay went well and being in this unit was enjoyable.

Good location, but…

Location was great for access to Kapa’a shopping & restaurants. Being location on the beach pathway was great. We were initially put in a unit that was not where we were supposed to be; garden-view first floor, handicap-accessible unit. We were supposed to be in a third-floor ocean view unit. It took a fair amount of time to resolve but we did get the unit we had requested (found out later that the unit is not guaranteed but the view is) Overall, unit was clean but had tiny black ants in the kitchen. Kitchen was not as well-equipped as we have come to expect in VRBO units. Paid more for resort amenities that we didn’t use.

Beautiful, comfortable and centrally located

Checking in/ out was quick and easy. We stayed for 8 nights and used the kitchen several times. The walking- biking path is right behind the property, so we used that often to explore the beaches. Shops, restaurants, and stores are all within a short stroll. We enjoyed sunrises from our balcony since we faced east out to the ocean. We will definitely plan on staying here next visit to Kauai!
