Explore the surrounding Shawnee National Forest - Pomona Natural Bridge, Little Grand Canyon and LaRue Pine Hills nearby. See beautiful Giant City State Park and the grand lodge built by the CCC. Check out the Cache River Wetlands with 1,000 year old Cypress trees. Discover the natural beauty that is southernmost Illinois.
Enjoy our nearby wineries and vineyards with award winning wines and tasting rooms plus entertainment from local musicians, dinner theatres and summertime or fall festivals along the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail. Shop our antique, craft and specialty shops in Alto Pass. Visit our local orchards for apples, peaches, nectarines, strawberries, blueberries and so much more seasonal produce. Fish or swim in Cedar Lake and boat in numerous other lakes. Plus there is so much more if you like golfing, bird watching, biking, hunting, boating, and horseback riding.
Then relax in the quiet, peaceful and private setting of Notting Hill Guest House, a southern Illinois vacation house/cabin rental.
Two bedrooms with one queen and two twin beds. A loft is available with a full size inflatable mattresses. There is also a futon in the front room, if needed. Kitchen has microwave, electric stove, dishwasher, refrigerator and some small appliances. The dining area comfortably sits six people. The new large deck spans the rear of the house. Sit in the new hot tub overlooking the fenced-in yard and the woodlands below. Private Setting.

Directions: 15 miles from Carbondale, the Notting Hill Guest House is located just outside the Village of Alto Pass. From Alto Pass go west towards Bald Knob. The Peach Barn will be on your right. Stay on the road to your right, Milligan Hill Road, for about two miles.
We are 15 miles SW of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.

great location for us!

We stayed here previously but it was under different ownership. The new owners have done a great job of making it really comfortable. It was a perfect spot for us to visit family and have our own space close by.

Valentine's Day weekend getaway

Poor communication - Ended our stay early

As a quick summary - my fiancé and I planned a long weekend to celebrate my birthday and to do our annual planning. We’ve stayed before in 2022 and had a good stay but this one was just not it. Issues:- check in was Friday 1/10 on Wednesday 1/8 I hadn’t heard anything from the host so I reached out. I had concerns since area had lost power earlier that week and offered to reschedule if needed. Host confirmed all was fine. We did end up checking in a day early due to additional snow coming. - WiFi didn’t work at all. I told the host this 1/9 and had to reach out through 1/11 for updates. Having to continue to reach out, send pictures of router, etc was inconvenient. Also we would have rescheduled if we had known this was an issue upfront. -DVD player also didn’t work and we let the host know-ended up leaving 1/11 instead of our check out on Monday 1/13 because I was spending more time reaching out to the host and trying to fix the internet vs our plans. Let the host know and completed all check out duties prior to check out time. Didn’t hear from them until later that day. I did ask for a refund of remaining two nights due to wifi issues causing us to leave early. I hadn’t heard anything so reached out again on 1/24 and haven’t heard back.

cold winter weekend

Great repeat stay for us at this property. Secluded, quiet location with a number of close outdoor activities and wineries. Communication with owners is easy and helpful. We'll stay here again for sure.

Peaceful cottage

Hubby and I wanted a few days away with our senior rescue pup. We were looking to unwind and this place was perfect. This cottage has an amazing back deck, hot tub and large back yard. Kitchen had everything we needed. We picked the perfect time of year to see all the fall foliage. Definitely recommend!

Relaxing Weekend

Our stay was perfect. The host was easy to contact and very responsive. We stayed for SIU family weekend and the location gave us a nice break from busyness on Carbondale.

20th anniversary getaway

This property was so cute and perfect for our anniversary. It's quiet and private, but not too far from the highway and attractions such as the wine trail and hiking. The owners responded quickly when I had questions. We will definitely consider coming back here and maybe even bringing our children, as their is enough space for all of us.

August visit

This house seems to have most of the modern convivences accept no dishwasher. Great hot tub. A bit off the beaten path. Just right for my wife and I. Highly recommend.

Wine Trip

We had such a blast here! Very thankful to be able to bring our small dogs and having a fenced in area. Enjoyed a peaceful evening cooking out on grill and relaxing in the hot tub. Another couple stayed with us and friends from Murphysboro came over for dinner. Great time and nice, clean, peaceful location with easy access to wineries!
