We had a very relaxing and enjoyable week.

We enjoyed staying in the lower unit for a second time The unit was very clean and comfortable. The access to the beach is great and the private pool was great. We only had to bring our food and swim suits everything else is pretty much provided. We look forward to going back next year

The location was the perfect for a peaceful family getaway! Only steps away from the beach, with a nice clear path, which made it easy for my young grandchildren. The home was was cozy and had a beachy decor. We did love the addition of a salt water, heated pool. Perfect temp for morning, and evening dips. Wind beneath my wings beach home was our perfect vacation destination!

Love this beach

We had a wonderful stay. Was unaware that we wouldn’t have an ocean view, however it didn’t take away from our experience. Will go again!! Hostess was incredible.

Perfect Location

This home was in a great location. Our family loves Holden Beach. Our party was small this year because we planned vacation at the last minute and this home was adequate for what we needed. Nicely decorated and beautiful ocean view from the deck. It is also close to Wilmington which we enjoyed as well.

Wonderful vacation!!!

Property Owners went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience! They were wonderful to work with prior to and during our vacation. Very quick to resolve any problems or questions.

Beach Fun

The heated saltwater pool was delightful and we stayed warm in the pool even with cooler temp and beach breeze! Loved the outside shower with hot and cold water.

Perfect Location

We have stayed here several times before in the upstairs and the down stairs unit both. It is just perfect for us. It’s a perfect location on the beach we think and has everything we need inside the home. Then add a beautiful pool. They also have beach chairs so we didn’t even have to bring those. And there owners are wonderful to work with. It’s just a great place and we love it.

Beachfront Cottage Lower Level

The location is great and Beth was great to work with; she was very helpful and friendly. She also was very honest about what the unit was like before I booked which was greatly appreciated.

It was fine, just may want to air out the house more often and maybe have the HVAC system cleaned. Was hard on my allergies.

I'm truly sorry to hear that you experienced allergy issues, especially since you mentioned everything was great midway through your visit. I understand how frustrating it can be when allergies flare up unexpectedly. I want to assure you that the HVAC system was recently replaced during a complete remodel of the home, and we take pride in maintaining a clean and comfortable environment for our guests. We air the house thoroughly during each cleaning to ensure a fresh atmosphere. I, too, experienced allergies the week of your stay. On the weather reports, Grass and ragweed pollen counts were noted as being high. I appreciate your understanding that with high pollen counts during the week, the presence of your dog may have contributed to your allergies. We love having pets in our home, but I know that they can sometimes bring in outdoor allergens. Your comfort and satisfaction are very important to us, and I hope you would consider staying with us again in the future. Another Wonderful Vacation

This is the perfect place for a much needed.....relaxing, restful but with the excitement of treasure hunting on the beach and a very enjoyable vacation. I could not have ask for anything more, it was perfect. Just what my husband and I needed. We're going home rejuvenated. This place is heaven on earth for us.

Lovely Family Vacation

We were so thankful to have had the opportunity to be oceanfront last week! The location could not have been more perfect. We were able to bring the kids out without lugging entire coolers and wagons full … it made our trip even more relaxing. Beth & Bill are the most hospitable hosts I’ve ever worked with. We were extremely comfortable and felt like home away from home. The heated pool was a huge gift! My kids loved and we were able to enjoy hours of fun in mid October. We definitely recommend Wing Beneath My Wings for anyone traveling with a small family, especially with a couple of kids.

Amazing stay

This was our 4th year at this rental and, as we are frequent travelers, I have to say that Beth and Bill are by far the most accommodating and communicative owners we have ever worked with. The place is meticulously clean, Well equipped, and very comfortable. It was a bonus this year to use their new saltwater pool. Just fantastic!! Hurricane Ian had hit as we were departing but Beth was quick to give us every update preceeding that. We were very comfortable knowing we truly had someone who cared about the well being of their guests. The area is filled with things to do and shopping nearby as well as several restaurants. It's our home away from home.

Great little downstairs cottage right on the beach

Has everything you need in a 2 bed 1 bath lower level unit. Separate deck and beach entrance from the upstairs unit. Good sized rooms and bathroom. Very clean and easy owners to work with. Plenty of light from the sliding glass door on the lower level. No ocean view from inside apartment, but owner was clear to point that out ahead of time. Great view from the deck. Right side stairs (as pictured from beach) are your own separate entrance. Cable TV and all the household dishware you could need. My wife and our 4 year old daughter loved the place. Would highly recommend.

True Beach House!

Our family visited Holden Beach last-minute on a whim after looking for a beachfront house to rent. When we arrived, we were welcomed with a beautiful display of fresh flowers and a home that is literally on the beach. The house is the perfect place if you are looking for a beach vacation somewhere that is not a huge tourist attraction (ie: Hilton Head, Myrtle Beach, etc.). The house itself has all the kitchen essentials for cooking as well as a charcoal grill. Additionally, there is one full bathroom (but no bathtub - which was a bit challenging for us since we had young kids). If the weather is good, you can literally walk outside and you are on the beach – you can’t ask for a better location. There is also a general store and ice cream shop within walking distance. If the weather is bad, be sure to bring some games or books because there is not a lot nearby to do otherwise. Overall, we couldn't have been happier with the house and the owner, Beth, is really great to work with. Thank you for sharing your beach house with us!

We had the BEST TIME!

I am known to not like the beach.... sand, saltwater etc. are not "my thing" but I go for my daughter. Our vacation at this home has changed my overall opinion of the beach. WE LOVED OUR TRIP! So much so that I have already inquired about availability to go back at the end of the summer. The first floor unit was exactly as described. There were fresh flowers waiting for us when we arrived and a personal note from the owners. It was very welcoming. The home was clean, smelled fresh, and had everything you would need for a nice vacation. We loved the private patio outside the sliding glass doors. There are two outdoor showers for your use: 1 with cold water at the top of your steps to rinse off and another enclosed outdoor shower/changing stall with both hot and cold water. Having my aversion to sand, we utilized the outdoor hot/cold shower daily to wash up after our day at the beach. It was wonderful to not have to track sand into the house! The location of this home could not be more perfect. You are truly steps away from the beach. It was very convenient to go to and from the house/beach for bathroom breaks, lunch, etc. Beth, the owner, was wonderful. She communicated well about the house, checked in with us during our stay, and answered any questions we had very quickly. There were tenants in the upstairs unit that we quickly became friends with. The kids played together daily. Being that this unit is downstairs, you can hear the foot traffic upstairs but it wasn’t enough to cause any issues. Holden Beach is very quaint. There isn’t much to do on the island outside of the beach and biking so if you are looking for a place with non-stop entertainment, amusement rides, etc., you may want to rent elsewhere. We were looking for a relaxing beach trip and that was exactly what we got. Honestly, we could not have been happier! It did rain a bit while we were there so we did a quick trip to the movies in Shallotte as well as a site seeing trip to Oak Island. There is a general store, souvenir shop and ice cream shop within walking distance of the house on the island.

Excellent Beach Front Cottage

I rented this cute beach front cottage for myself, 2 young children and grandma to enjoy for 1 week vacation. The owner was easy to communicate with through the VRBO website and privately through e-mail, phone and text, very personable and friendly. She gave accurate information about the lower unit cottage. We arrived late Saturday night and our keys and instructions were being held at a local realtor locked key box 3 minutes from the house, very easy. The cottage was clean and prepared with fresh flowers for our arrival. Each room had fresh beds and cleaned, prepared sheets were left for us by the Linen Service. We brought our own bath towels, beach towels and hand towels for bath and kitchen. Floors were clean and vacuumed, surprisingly no sand despite the beach front location, no bugs or odors. The kids loved the bunk beds in the first room, with 2 additional twin beds and the second room with a king bed. Plenty of shelf space to put clothes and suitcases. Furnishing were simple and beach themed ie. White rattan with Floridian print but comfortable and appropriate for the location. Multiple lights and outlets for electronics. Wifi available and good cell service. Kitchen was simple but well stocked with blender, toaster, pots and pans, kitchen utensils, etc. Fridge was clean and ready for us to bring our own food and supplies. Plenty of outside parking space even for large SUV, green area for playing ball. Great outside shower with changing stall. Outside patio on first floor to stairway to beach. Gorgeous flat, panoramic beach, tons of shells, waves and sun to enjoy. The pleasure of the beach front cottage is that you are literally just steps from the kitchen for a cold drink, bathroom for potty stop with young kids, etc. At the end of the day, you can easily bring beach chairs, umbrellas, toys to the stairs and leave for the next day of play. Plenty of local rental places for bikes and beach supplies. Nice local biking for leisure pedaling. Instruction for departure were clear and reasonable to accommodate. Lots of pros to this cute beach front cottage. Possible cons that did not effect us, but may effect others are: there will likely be upstairs renters during your visit, ours were nice and the kids played together, pet friendly units not great for allergy sufferers and lastly if you want granite counter tops, high end finishes and infinity pool, then this is not the rental for you. Simple Seaside retreat ! We will be happy to come stay here again.

Beautiful location

We stayed here the end of May and it was overall a great experience. The house was literally steps from the beach and we had everything we needed. Beth was very easy to communicate with and we felt comfortable in the house. The only recommendation that I have is to get the top part of the house to reduce hearing footsteps and noises from upstairs. Thank you for accommodating our family Beth!
