Your wonderful Wisconsin vacation begins at East Shorewood Cottages on Kangaroo Lake. Here you will find a relaxed atmosphere with ten housekeeping cottages nestled along the pristine east shore of this clean inland lake. Relax at the beach, swim, fish, play games, take a walk, or enjoy a campfire. You’re on 'the quiet side', yet only minutes away from all the attractions Door County has to offer including golf, shopping, antiques, art galleries, live theater, parks, etc.

Spruce is a cute, country-inspired cottage tucked away behind a beautiful fern bed. The screened porch invites you to curl up with your favorite book over morning coffee. Enjoy a family cookout on the deck or relax on the grounds as the kids enjoy the beach, play yard, outdoor ping-pong or volleyball. Fish from the pier and enjoy time on the water on one of the association’s kayaks, canoes, water bikes, or paddle boards. Life jackets are provided.

The living room features a lofted pine ceiling with skylight and ceiling fan for those warm summer days. The kitchen has been recently updated and is fully stocked with all the cooking utensils you need. The spacious, newly remodeled bathroom includes a shower stall and raised cedar ceiling.

Birthday Respite

I was looking for a place that would be slightly removed from a lot of traffic, cars and humans, and I did. It was a quiet get away from our hectic schedules. Enjoyably close to the water and to great restaurants. It was a cozy place. We would definitely book this place again. :-)

Nice getaway!!

Very nice place…met our expectations. Close to places we visited on the “quiet side.” Had the chance to meet a very nice couple and exchange pleasantries fireside by the lake. Would definitely recommend!

Cottage with issues

While the property was quaint and tidy, unfortunately there were mice in the unit. The manager was very responsive and handled the issue appropriately. If the issue is resolved, I could recommend the property.

Perfect for small families

Beautiful and convenient location. The resort is perfect for families and it offers many activities. The cabin has everything you need and it was the perfect size for a small family. The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is because the cabin was a little outdated, the tv didn't have cable and the internet was very spotty

Nice stay. Some frustrations.

No cable, just Roku. Viewing was intermittent. WIFI on and off the whole stay. The beach and use of the kayaks were nice. The cottage was comfortable, but the plumbing was slow to drain. Needed to plunge the kitchen sink a couple times.

Not bad

Pretty much just slept here. No AC but they have fans. Biggest complaint was that there was no towels and we had to make our own beds and return the bedsheets to the office after we left.

perfect for a get-away

Loved this little cottage and would definitely go back again! It was very clean, quaint, and quiet. Stayed here with a friend for a little 'mama's get-away' weekend and it was perfect! Only negative was that we thought this cottage had its own bonfire but instead there was a bonfire closer to the lake that all the cabins near by could use. Very minor thing, but we still enjoyed our stay and highly recommend! Thanks Trudy!!

Spruce cabin not as nice as others

The property/lake was very nice. But our cabin- the Spruce was not worth the value that we paid. No working coffee maker. The bathroom should be remodeled. Water damaged ceiling. The shower was a portable pod and the shower head was very low with hardly any pressure. Listing states WIFI but it was not working very during our stay. No service. No TV, Listing states there is a TV. Well the TV is there but it has no service except DVD. In fact, it states in the cabin that TV is for DVD watching only. This cabin is too expensive for the amenities. We visited other cabins here and some were remodeled and very nice for the same amount of money. Some had DISH and WIFI and regular bathrooms. Property was nice, but don't stay at the SPRUCE cabin unless the value is under $100/night.

Perfect Family Getaway

It was our first time in door County and this experience has made us want to book for next year already. What a lovely place to get away! Super simple cabin but, everything you need is there. Perfect for kids. I believe the only reason cleanliness did not deserve a five star review was because the cabin had not been occupied for a while and should have been given a little freshening before our arrival. That said, management was super responsive and took care of us. We are looking forward to going back!

Charming, no-frills cottage on a quiet lake

Clean, sweet little cottage with everything we needed for a long weekend for one couple. Not glamorous or commercial. Feels like a family's inherited place. We loved the skylight. If the weather had been nicer we would have enjoyed the screen porch, the deck, and kayaking or canoeing on Kangaroo Lake. Instead we hiked at The Dunes and The Ridges. Contrary to the advertising, there was no internet service, but Door County is known for its black holes. My only suggestion: The cottage could use taller lamps for reading on cloudy or rainy days. We would happily rent here again.

Excellent rate for a no frills place

Property was nice, nothing fancy but a great rate. We mainly were there for sightseeing so not a lot of time spent in the unit. Beds were okay for comfort. Replied to property manager with questions that went unanswered, otherwise things were fine.

Quaint getaway

We had a restful and fun stay. The quiet side of Door County is a refreshing easy access to any of the myriad of interesting and usual tourist things to do. From Baileys Harbor and the Ridges conservancy to Cave point, Newport State Park, or just looking at stars at Kangaroo lake. Great place!

Great Location!

It was perfect being on Kangaroo Lake! We had the rustic experience of being at the cabin on a lake but also were right in the middle of all the Door County attractions. The cabin was just as described. Trudy was easy to work with throughout the whole process!
