Charming Hillside Hideaway with great views. NO CLEANING FEE

This is a beautiful, completely remodeled apartment on the ground level of a single family home. The setting is perfect for a romantic get-away or two friends on an adventure. You'll have reserved parking and private electronic entrance. The bedroom has a king sized bed and a comfy, full sized leather futon is in the living room. You'll enjoy high quality linens in the bedroom and bathroom.
The covered patio is a great place to enjoy your morning coffee or relax after a busy day. An outdoor swing adds to your relaxation and enjoyment. The yard has comfortable seating, a propane grill, privacy, pine trees, and a great view of the town of Custer and beautiful Black Hills. The bedroom has sliding glass doors that open to a small, private yard.
Enjoy the ambiance of a candlelit fireplace (please, no real fires because of forest fire danger.) Washer and dryer for your convenience. The kitchen has an induction stove top, large stainless sink, toaster oven, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, coffee pot, tea kettle, blender, and crock pot. If there is anything else you need, just ask and we'll do our best to make it happen. A welcome snack, coffee and teas are provided.
You'll be walking distance to downtown attractions, excellent restaurants, live entertainment, and the Michelson Trail.
Custer State Park is just 5 minutes by car or, hop on your bikes and get there via the Michelson Trail. Custer is a wonderful place and we're happy to recommend activities and businesses we know you'll enjoy.

Crazy Horse - 7 miles
Mount Rushmore - 20 miles
Wind Cave - 20 miles

The property owners reside on the upper level of the home. We are here if you need us but also respect your privacy. Because we're in a residential neighborhood, we request quiet hours from 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM. No parties. Children must be supervised at ALL TIMES. We require NO CLEANING FEE so respectfully ask that you treat our home in a considerate manner during your stay and upon departure.

Wonderful stay

We have stayed in many rentals across the US and internationally and the Hideaway ranks in our top ten. It is well appointed and comfy. Candace provides so many nice touches including fresh eggs, cookies and even frosted beer mugs! Highly recommend a stay here.

This is one of the nicest Air B&B’s we have ever had the pleasure of booking. Candace thought of everything! It is very clean, the bed is extremely comfortable and the location can’t be beat. We had a great time visiting Custer State Park and the Black Hills! We felt right at home and Candace provided recommendations as well as a thorough guest information book. This place has been our favorite VRBO stay by far. Candace is the sweetest and you feel like you are home from the moment you arrive. We loved getting to spend time in the Black Hills and Custer. We spent most of our time hiking, and Candace was really sweet and gave us some great recommendations. There are deer that frequent the property almost daily. It was such a joy to watch them. If we could give ten stars, we would.

FABULOUS!!

Absolutely one of the best stays we've ever experienced! Quiet, peaceful, cozy and relaxing. Everything we needed to be comfortable and Candace was by far the greatest of hosts. Beds were comfy, shower always hot and everything provided for a "home away from home" stay. Will be staying again in the future with no hesitatation!!

Excellent!

We loved staying here for our trip to South Dakota .Relaxing home base after a day of activities. Located walking distance to downtown Custer and a short drive to all the local attractions. Wonderful hostess! Highly recommend!

Beautiful place to stay!

We had such a wonderful time staying at this property! Candace left no stone unturned with the effort to make sure that her guests always feel comfortable. We felt like we were at home even though we were so far away. It was the perfect place to stay for all of our adventures, being close to everything, and ease of access. Highly highly recommend! We will definitely be back.

Peace and Tranquility

We enjoyed our time at Charming Hillside Hideaway. Our host, Candace, is a very sweet person and very knowledgeable of the area. She responded to our questions quickly and gave us excellent examples of places to go and things to do. It was special to see deer and wild turkeys outside of the house. We will stay there again! Great Place in Custer

The place is beautiful inside snd out. The owner was so nice. She left us fresh eggs and cookies. The bed was comfortable. We especially enjoyed the outside patio! The beautiful flowers and deer. Thank you for everything! We would definitely stay again.

Cozy and Comfortable

We loved staying at the Hillside Hideaway. It was cozy, comfortable and well-supplied, also very clean with extra amenities like extra jackets if we needed them, towels, blankets and pillows. Our host was easy to contact if we had any questions. The outside area was well-lit for when we came home after dark. We would stay there again if when are every back in the Hills.

Amazing Place to Stay!

This property is even more beautiful than the pictures. Candace is an excellent host. Every suggestion she offered proved to be invaluable! The property was immaculate and had everything anyone could need. Also, the fresh eggs and cookies were over the top. If you plan to vacation in the Black Hills, please stay at Hillside Hideaway. Beautifully appointed home in a fun Custer setting. Wake up to wild turkeys walking down driveway while drinking morning coffee on patio and catch the deer wandering nearby at twilight. Comfy chairs, plenty of space and most comfortable mattress on this trip. Owner has thought of everything to make this the perfect base for area attractions. Will definitely return some time in the future.

Exceptional Rental with Exceptional Host!

We absolutely loved our stay, and Candace was OUTSTANDING!! The rental was clean and very comfortable, with a beautiful outdoor space as well. Candace clearly puts a lot of care in preparing for her guests with clear instructions and so many amenities: games, snacks, toiletries…even glasses chilling in the freezer when we arrived. She thought of everything! Candace provides excellent communication and makes herself available to help her guests if needed. I’ve stayed in several rentals and Candace stands out as a top host. We LOVED our stay so much!!

5 Star All the Way

Our stay here was five star from beginning to end. Candace is a hostess that thought of everything. There was even a cooler for taking short trips, jackets in the closet in case you forgot to pack one for the colder nights and even some travel to go cups in the cupboard along with a new washer and dryer. It was just like being home. The bed was so comfy we didn’t want to leave.

Perfect!!!!!

Our stay was absolutely perfect!! The house is absolutely adorable!!! Very clean, decorated perfectly, perfect for us and two teenage girls, had everything you need for sleeping arrangements (even an air mattress!!), everything for cooking and grilling, the cutest outdoor patio for grilling and playing card games….I cannot say enough about this property! We loved it! And walking distance to Main Street! Seriously perfect! And the bedroom was perfectly sized with a king bed! We would rent this property again and again!!

Ideal escape!

We stayed for 5 nights. Wish it would have been for longer. The property location is ideal. Convenient to everything Custer has to offer yet you feel like your away from it all. The place is clean, up to date and has the best patio ever! The setting is gorgeous and the views are great. Candace is an amazing host! She really has thought of everything. The place is fully outfitted with everything you will need and she has added some extra comforts that certainly exceeded expectation. Zero question where we will stay on a return visit.

Private Retreat

Absolutely enjoyed our stay here in Custer, South Dakota in large part due to the thoughtfulness of our hostess, Candace. She has gone above and beyond to ensure her guests are comfortable and feel at home. The house is perfectly located near numerous monuments, hiking trails, and other tourist attractions. It was a quick drive to Crazy Horse Memorial and horseback riding. A little further out we explored the 1880 Train, Mammoth Site and Mount Rushmore. We ran out of time but we will be back because there is so much more!

Perfect for exploring the area

This was a very clean and big place to stay and nature right outside your door. Deer by the porch everyday. Walkable to downtown and so much to do right by this house. Custer state park was awesome and we easily took 3 days here exploring the entire park and hiking and seeing the animals. Also close to Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse so you could easily go at night for the lights on the memorial. Every single thing she has like spices and baggies and condiments. We cooked on the grill every night. Only negative is you can hear all walking up stairs but she probably could hear us too. We would definitely stay here again, it was fantastic!!!
