The Cabin
All our cabins at Ponderosa Place feature vaulted ceilings, hardwood floors and log accents. Kitchens have everything you need to cook except ovens... Stove tops, Fridge, Microwave, Coffee pot, all dishes, pots, pans, utensils are provided. Each cabin has AC units to help you cool down as well as cove heat if you are visiting in the cooler months. All linens and towels are provided along with basic soaps.

Outside Space
Cool off in the shared back yard with gentle log swing and seating area all under our huge willow tree. Or stretch your legs and let the kids burn some energy off in the two shared large front yards! There is a swing set for the kiddos, and 2 firepits for evening enjoyment.

Located just a few blocks off the main street in Custer you can walk to the grocery store along with shopping and restaurants!

This property worked out very good for us to tour the Custer South Dakota area. Great location. We enjoyed our stay. A couple minor things, the living room could’ve used a little bit more lighting, and my wife felt a full length mirror might’ve been handy. But these are no big deal. It was a good stay.

This is our 4th year staying at Black Hills Ponderosa Place, and we continue to be impressed with our stays. The cabin is well-appointed: comfortable bed, plenty of seating in the living room, and a kitchen with all the appliances/utensils/pots and pans you want for cooking. And the location? Absolutely ideal! It is just two blocks off the Mickelson Trail - and the local grocery store (Lynn's DakotaMart). It is a 5-7 minute walk to downtown Custer.And yet this property, located high on a hill, is so quiet at night that you could believe you're in a remote area. We have never worried about the safety of our bikes. Crystal is the consummate host! She will do all in her power to make your stay comfortable. Her contact information is clearly posted inside the cabin. We will continue to stay at BHPP every time we come to Custer. Highly recommend this place!

Loved this cabin and the grounds around it as well as the town of Custer. Such a great place to stay and so clean, cozy, comfy and with all that we needed to enjoy our time there. Would totally stay here again!!

Great location and facilities - ideal for the National Parks in the area and Crazy Horse memorial - plenty of space. Only stayed two nights - plenty of places to eat in town which was a short walk away.

We came to Custer for the annual Buffalo roundup. This cabin was in the heart of Custer. Easy to find, clean and the sights were just wonderful!

Perfect stop on our roadtrip!

This was the perfect launching point for our road trip. We enjoyed spending time in the state park, Wind Cave and Mount Rushmore. The location was close to town so it made it very convenient yo go back out after a long day exploring. I would stay here again!

Loved our stay!

We really enjoyed our stay the Mustang cabin. My husband loves all things cowboy so this was a perfect surprise for his 64th birthday. We hope to stay there again!

Wonderful cabins

Very nice property. Clean and quiet. Met other people that had also rented a cabin and they joined us for a fire. Would highly recommend this property.

Cozy Cabin Walking Distance to Town

We really enjoyed our stay here! It was a quick walk to town for shopping, restaurants, and the Mickelson Trail. The cabin features a comfortable bed and sofa plus all the kitchen utensils and bath accessories we needed. It was an enjoyable stay!

Host very helpful

She was very helpful on we we can park our pickup and trailer, also the place was very clean and perfect for 3 adults. Walking distance to downtown was really nice! We would stay again!

Family build trip

Went to Custer to help a family member. Cabin was comfortable and designed well for a one bedroom unit. Easy access to the downtown.

It was fine. It’s old and could use some updates but it worked out and was close to groceries, food,

It was fine! We’re used to a little newer and nicer accommodations but it had comfortable beds and was close to amenities needed. Could use some updates.

Custer weekend

The property was nice and clean. Crystal always responded quickly and was very nice. The air conditioner in the back bedroom hadn't worked the first night and it was fixed promptly when we told her about it.
