Unplug from the craziness of the world with a stay in Bowers Beach. This 5 bedroom, 3.5 bath home can sleep up to 12 people per stay. 2,288 sqft of indoor space and two large decks will give your group plenty of space to relax during your visit. 360 degree water views allow for superb sunrise and sunsets. This home includes 1 queen bed, 3 full beds, and a set of twin bunkbeds. Large couch in the living room can fit an additional two folks comfortably. This home is within a 400' walk to the beach entrance, allowing for simple trips back and forth throughout your stay. House comes equipped with a Charcoal grill, beach chairs, and a few bikes to ride around town. Bowers is home to two bar/restaurants, a park/playground, several charter and party boats, as well as the Bowers maritime museum. 15 minute drive to Dover, the racetrack, Delaware Turf Sports Complex. 30 Minutes to dogfish head brewery, and 40 minutes to Rehoboth, Lewes and Dewey. Whether you stay in town or explore the local area, you will enjoy your stay at the Captain's Quarters.

This was a wonderful home walking distance to the beach. It was spacious and extremely comfortable. We recommend it to anyone interested in a beach vacation home.

Family Attending a Funeral from Miami Florida

This place was large enough to accommodate my family size of 10. There was plenty of room to spread around and not to mention, the house was fully stocked with anything and everything you could need. Sean communicates quickly and is very attentive to details. Thank you Sean.

Lovely retreat

Great place to stay! The communication with the property manager was very good. The house was big enough for my husband and I, four of our adult children and some grandchildren. The bedrooms are spacious and we had enough beds and pillows for all. Our stay was in November, and we still enjoyed walking the beach, which was about a block away from the house, and watching the sunrise. The kitchen was very well equipped and everything was in working order. The only odd thing, that we got use to in a few days, is that house sways and also vibrates when the washer is spinning. It was a different sensation, but we never felt unsafe. Our only complaint was a few areas of messes that were left in closets and the towel closet was in disarray. Overall, it was well worth it.

This was a great house to stay with family and friends. Location was great and the kids enjoyed the beach and the bikes. I would definitely stay again if I have to stay somewhere in that area. Thank you Sean.

Captains Quarters

We had a wonderful time at the Captains Quarters. The house was as advertised and very clean. Its location was central to our activities. JP Wharf restaurant was very close (walking distance) and food there was excellent. We highly recommend this VRBO.

Wonderful Family Vacation

Property was well maintained with lots of extra amenities. Plenty of room for our whole family. Well stocked kitchen! We asked about a crockpot and one was delivered the day we arrived! Very close to the beach! Welcoming community

Great for large groups, convenient to Dover

We stayed here while visiting a festival up at the Dover racetrack. It was an easy drive and let us hang on the beach in the day. We loved seeing all the wildlife including horseshoe crabs, jellyfish, periwinkle and even a sea turtle! The only negative was the water, which had a strong sulfur smell and was undrinkable. Even showers weren't fun. However this was disclosed and after buying a bunch of bottled water we were happy and would return in the future. Wonderful and responsive host. Thanks!

Captain's Quarters Rocks!

This is our second stay at Captian's Quarters as part of the annual American Select girls lacrosse showcase event. We comfortably slept 4 families and enjoyed all the amenities and upgrades the owner did since our last visit. The little community of Bowers Beach is great for a quick beach run, excellent food, and a fun night time tavern for adults; all within a 5 minute walk. Sean is a great owner and very responsive to anything you need.

Great location and house

We had a wonderful relaxing stay at this great home! It was steps to the beach and their recommendation for JP’s was also great. The beds were super comfortable. Lovely home with great communication from the owner! Only negative was the taste/ smell of the water but we just had bottled water and it wasn’t a problem at all.

Great Relaxing Vacation

Captain's Quarters was a wonderful house for our family vacation. The set-up of the rooms allow for privacy and a place to be by yourself, with a nice living room/dining area for gatherings. The kitchen is well-stocked with cooking pots, pans, utensils, appliances, and a full set of dishes and glasses. The host provides several beach chairs, beach toys, and bikes. Just a short walk to kayak rentals, too. There were not many other people on the beach the week we were there (sometimes no one else!), and we enjoyed not jockeying in crowds. We took a day trip to Rehoboth Beach to walk the boardwalk and have a lunch out, but it was nice to come back to our quiet spot. We all loved our week there - Thanks, Sean!

Had the best time on Bowers Beach!

I stayed in captains quarters with a group of families during our Lacrosse tour tournament at the DE turf complex. We had the best time. It was close to the fields and perfect for a multifamily set up. In the evenings, we could relax and the kids could ride beach cruisers around the island. The sunset on the Mars is beautiful, the beach is lovely and the Doc has everything you need. We had a fabulous dinner at JP’s on Wharf and the kids walked for ice cream. The mattresses and pillows were extremely comfortable. We really had the best time. Great house. Would definitely book it again. We liked how peaceful and quaint Bowers Beach was and it was also convenient to drive to other tourist areas when we were in the mood. There’s a maritime museum on the island. The hours of operation didn’t align with our plans, but I’d love to go back and check that out.

Captain's Quarters

We had a fun stay at Captain's Quarters, rented the house with 5 adults and 5 teenagers playing in a lacrosse tourney at the DE Turf complex. House was huge, clean and Sean was super helpful. The beach was really close to house but not as nice as we would have hoped, more dirt than sand, lots of horse flies and water was a bit muddy/murky being on the bay - could have been a function of the tides. JP's Wharf was within walking distance and had great food and music/entertainment. We would definitely rent this house again - thanks Sean!

Quiet beach area

Was nice for our family - small children, small beach, very close - a lot of chairs and things to do. Not crowded for holiday weekend. a lot of open area for big family to hang out together.

Great location!

We stayed in Bowers for a lacrosse tournament at DE Turf Fields; I recommend it - very convenient! The house and location made it more like a vacation than a tournament weekend 🙂. Great access to the water. The property manager was very responsive and accommodating!

Graduation Trip

We chose Captain’s Quarters for our family trip to attend our daughter’s graduation because of the size and location of the home. Approximately 10 of us were able to stay there comfortably and the area and location was close to all the activities we attended. Sean was great in allowing us to check in early and communication was excellent. His instructions were very clear and helpful in getting us settled in the first day and becoming familiar with the home. Like any home, there were some things that didn’t worked well. Upon check-in we had an ant issue in the kitchen area and the main bedroom. Also, it was tough to get over the odor of the water. Sean was very reactive in helping us take care of the ants quickly. Also, the bicycles were available to be used but they were not in working condition. I would recommend servicing of the bicycles if they are available for house guests. Deck furnitures and beach chairs need cleaning. Overall our stay was pleasant and peaceful. The neighbourhood is quiet and great for walking and easy access to the beach.

Great place first for a family trip

The Captain’s Quarters afforded us a wonderful beach trip. Plenty of room for everyone and more than enough bathrooms. I’ll miss master bath! The house was conveniently located close to the beach. The kids had a great time in the Bay.

Friends Getaway

The property lived up yo expectations. I had been looking at it for a while to rent. My friends and I had enjoyable stay in April. Beds and furniture were comfortable. Hope to stay here again in the future.

Great place to stay for tournaments in Frederica

We stayed with 2 other families for a field hockey tournament. It was a short drive to the turf complex in Frederica. We were able to cook our meals instead of eating out, and had a comfortable place to rest when there were breaks. It was a close walk to the beach, though we only went for short times to walk since it was in April and cold outside. There were plenty of bedrooms and places for us to hang out where we weren't on top of each other. I would stay there again if we had another event to go to in the area.
