The Blue Heron @ Coligny Circle

Welcome to the Blue Heron! This cozy little beach house is big on outdoor space. Outdoor decking is as big as the home itself! It’s two beautiful blocks to a public beach access and six blocks to Coligny Circle.There is a bike path to Coligny halfway in between the house and the beach. The beach is pet friendly and so is our home. The home has three bedrooms and three full bathrooms, a dining area that seats eight and a bar areas that seats an additional five. There are two used adult bikes and one kids, umbrellas, eight beach chairs of varying sizes and weights, buckets, a razor scooter, skateboard, outdoor games, hammock, grill that uses gas, charcoal, and wood chips, boogie boards, tikki torches, indoor/outdoor dining options, and a beach cart. The beach access is at the end of the street and is wide enough for you to park and unload. Multiple families and guests are welcome-no parties.

Overall, the location was great and convenient, which was the biggest positive of our stay. However, the property itself needs significant attention and maintenance. The home shows considerable wear and would benefit from repairs and updates throughout.The biggest disappointment was that the listing photos are outdated. They appear to have been taken when the home was new, and they do not accurately reflect its current condition. We chose this property based on those photos, so the difference between the listing and reality was disappointing.While we were able to enjoy our trip because of the location, the inaccurate listing and lack of upkeep made the experience fall short of expectations. I hope the owner updates the photos and invests in improving the property so future guests know what to expect.

Location can’t be beat! Close to the beach and Coligny Plaza, yet quiet neighborhood. Host was very responsive to our needs. Great service, nice property.

Great Beach Home

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay! So close to the beach and all that Coligny Square has to offer. Quiet and comfortable with everything you need. We will be back!

Welcoming and homey in "A"perfect vaca location

The house has a very cozy family feel just perfect to decompress and make great family memories. Well decorated and comfortable meeting all our expected needs. We loved the daily beach walks with our dog and all the pet friendly outdoor dining in close proximity to the house. This is a winner location in Forest Beach.

Perfect Location

This property is beautiful and perfectly located. The home had everything we needed, plus more. I am so grateful the owner allows pets, as our pup loved being with us at the beach. If you want a peaceful and serene location within a short walking distance to the beach and all the attractions, this is the house for you!

Family Time

We had a great family vacation at the Blue Heron Cottage over the week of Thanksgiving. It is in close proximity to the beach, Coligny Circle and many restaurants. Great communication with the owner and the property is definitely in a safe location. Great family memories.

Awesome!

This is a great place with a great host. Awesome communication and flexibility with us. Very well stocked compared to most places when it comes to consumables like toilet paper, paper towels, garbage bags, etc. so you don’t have to worry about running out of toilet paper the first night!

Nice

Overall we really enjoyed our stay with our family. The proximity to beach and town was great. The house was a great set up for our small family. The only cons were that there were a few things broken in the house when we arrived, and it was a little cluttered with an accumulation of random stuff which made it feel not as clean. The outside is a bit buggy so we didn’t really hang out on the deck. Overall we’d recommend.

Hi Jodi, Everyone moves everything around and breaks things. I do try to get in there once a month to every other month to put it all back where it goes. I have been struggling with the shower door handle and the gate latch because, no matter how many times I screw them back on, people just pull them back off. Two month-long guests stayed before you and did not permit me the chance to get in there between them and you to set it all right. North forest doesn't spray as a community. I do have a contract With Hilton Head exterminators. They are always on call for touch ups to the exterior and interior when needed. I also supply off and tiki torches as back ups. My sincerest apologies that your stay wasn’t ideal. Ever since I’ve been able to get in there, I’ve been posting nonstop five star reviews elsewhere. When I’m in, I add to the property amenities, do a deep clean, and make repairs. I have a side deck for storage but, would really like to get a shed for the bikes and beach stuff. Amazing Experience

Our trip was an unexpected last minute trip after our family experienced a tragic loss. The Blue Heron @ Coligny Circle and its host, Beth, were absolutely amazing. Being last minute, we expected options to be picked over but we feel like we got the best-of-the-best! Upon check-in, Beth sent a detailed email with recommendations and instructions… everything we needed for a stress-free time of relaxation. The beach access point was a quick and easy 3-5 minute walk at the end of the road and was a great section of beach, not over-crowded. Location is close to everything but far enough to give a less “touristy” feeling. This home has all the thoughtful extras not found elsewhere. It’s very obvious the host takes personal pride and ownership in the total guest experience. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. 🙂

Rough start, underwhelming stay

Rough start - We were provided the wrong check-in information, so after driving over 4 hours for our vacation, and not being able to get it, the frustration began. This was amplified ten-fold when were unable to reach the host. We called approximately 15 times, sent multiple text messages, and reached no one. We contacted VRBO customer support, who also tried to reach the host, to no avail. Because we were stranded, VRBO apologized for the ordeal, and started the process of trying to find us a nearby hotel. This whole process was horrible. So after being locked out in the dark, on the telephone with VRBO for over 2 hours, the host finally calls back, and provides the correct access code to get it.Underwhelming stay - The house is clearly set-up for summer use, because there were window units still in place, which made for an extremely drafty and cold stay (pre-Christmas trip). We tried turning up the heat, but ultimately bought additional blankets to combat the draft.Pros - Well appointed house, lots a practical starter items throughout, close to the beach.Cons - The check-in process (as noted prior), the draftiness during non-summertime months.Hopefully these items can be rectified, that the next tenants will have a better time than we did.

Location Can’t Be Beat!

Please Read: Previous reviews noted problems with the property. I reached out to the property owner to discuss the reviews prior to booking. She explained she had shut down the property to rentals and detailed the maintenance corrections she had made over the last month. We made the decision to book and stay at the property for five nights. When we arrived the front door had been replaced and the interior safety hazards with the floor had been rectified. Beth was very quick with communication responses prior to our booking, at arrival, and during our stay. The home is 350 yards (4 min walk) to the beach, 6 minute walk to the Coligny shops. The bike/walking path on N. Forest Beach Drive was great for our dog. The location of the property could not be more convenient. If you have any concerns about what to expect with the property reach out to the owner and make your own judgements. If your experience with communication is anything like ours I believe you will find her to be easy to work with.

Is not like the picture

We actually could not even stay here. This property is NOT well kept. Junk is on the deck, wood rotting on the front door and the floors on the inside were buckled. The previous renters had left saying they felt the property was unsafe. It had not even been cleaned from their stay when we arrived. Owner did offer for us to stay at a discount. No thank you! Was not a way to start a weeks vaca. Ended up booking last minute with another owner/property.

Lovely, peaceful getaway

We had a wonderful stay, just a block or so from the beach on a lovely tree filled quiet street. Sitting on the deck under the trees on the soft cushions brought us completely into vacation mode. The interior had a clean, updated modern cottage feel and all the details were thought of. Wonderful host, great communication, can't wait to go back.

Awesome location

Would definitely recommend this property to anyone wanting to stay in Hilton Head. Just a short walk to the beach or shopping. Love this place.
