Vern Cottage in Downtown Colorado Springs welcomes you!

Location is unbeatable, only 2 blocks from the heart of downtown & 1/2 block from the Shooks Run walk/bike path. This cute 1200 SF early 20th century cottage has been remodeled w/ modern amenities & charm. Large bedrooms, off street parking, keyless entry, Smart TV, fast & free dual-band Wi-Fi & desk area for ‘working remotely’ convenience makes this the ideal stay!

ACCESS: the cottage has a private entry off the alleyway. There is no street access. Please read the directions thoroughly after booking!! We also provide a map.

PARKING: Private, off-street parking space for 2 vehicles or 1 with small trailer. Inquire about other parking options.

EXTERIOR: A path off the front door leads to a private covered porch with seating area. New landscaping and BBQ grill with enclosed fence for privacy.

KITCHEN: Spacious full kitchen with plentiful basics for your cooking needs. Fridge/freezer, cooktop, stove, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, and blender.

DINING AREA: Open to the kitchen and living room, there’s plenty of space for informal meals.

LIVING ROOM: Cozy and comfortable sofa and loveseat with Smart TV and books available for use during your stay.

BEDROOM #1: The main level master bedroom is spacious with a King-sized bed, Smart TV, USB outlet lamp, closet with hangers, portable fan and comfortable lounge chair.

BEDROOM #2: Comprised of the entire 2nd floor, this large bedroom includes an upholstered queen sized bed, USB outlet lamp, closet with hangers, portable fan and workspace with desk and chair.

BATHROOM: Full bath with shower/tub combination. Towels are provided.

LAUNDRY AREA: Stacked washer and dryer available for use during your stay.

We support local small businesses whenever we can! Please feel free to ask for recommendations to do the same during your stay!

Best stay ever!!

Absolutely loved this quaint little house! So very comfortable with everything we wanted and more! The furnishings and supplies were wonderful. The high chair for the 1 year old was such a welcome bonus!! We would highly recommend this house and hope to return.

Exactly what we needed!

We loved Vern cottage! We had never been to CO Springs prior and didn't know the area at all so were so happy to find an affordable place in walking distance to downtown. The house was clean with personal touches from the owners that we loved. Easy check in and check out as well. Definitely recommend!

Perfect stay

We stayed for several nights while helping my son pack out from Colorado College. The owner provided easy to follow and detailed instructions for checking in. The house was spotless and ready for guests. We enjoyed the proximity to downtown, which was within easy walking distance, and to the college. The outdoor space was an added bonus. Five stars and we would definitely return.

Nice stay!

We enjoyed the property and it was very clean. Just what we needed. It is hard to find even with the directions provided as it is off a dead end alley. Also, the upstairs bedroom does not have heat vents so was a bit chilly. In winter, it might be really cold if no space heater or something provided.

Nice place with great owners

We had a great stay at this location. The house was nice and clean and the owners were very cool with us. Extended us a day on late notice. The inside was nice and had a good vibe. Some of the doors were a bit tough to open and close….but no big deal. The only downside is it’s tough to find for Uber drivers and DoorDash. We had issues with that multiple times. The no AC was a bit rough because it got scorching hot out while we were there. They do have plenty of fans and a portable AC unit to help with that though. All in all, I’d highly recommend staying here.

Lots of Positives

The communication was terrific, cottage was very clean, bedrooms were spacious, dinner was never more than a 5-minute drive away, my daughter loved the word searches & the local snack upon arrival was a really nice touch. The reason it's not a 5-star is because the listing is a bit misleading with A/C. There's A/C in both bedrooms, but not in the common areas, so it wasn't so comfortable during the 90+ degree days, even in the mornings. We were hoping to be able to walk a mile here or there to get food, but the neighborhood isn't well lit and the entry to the house is in a back alley, so walking at night didn't feel as safe as I was hoping.

Colorado Springs work project

The location was excellent for our work needs. The host J was very responsive and even installed gate for our dog to fence in the back yard. This make the stay extra special for our boxer Ivy who really enjoyed the outdoor space.The cottage is very well stocked with what you would need for a comfortable stay.

A lovely, comfortable cottage

The property owner communicated with us promptly when requested in advance of our stay with complete and accurate information regarding the location of and the means of access to the property. The property was as represented and we found it comfortable. A minor problem developed early in our stay and, following communication with the owner, was quickly resolved. the owner's interest in maintaining the cleanliness of the property was apparent both through its appearance and the owner's appropriate request for our assistance in maintaining the property's status. The owner's expectations for check-out were clearly stated in the property notebook and the owner's communications the day before departure and were easily accomplished. On the whole, we enjoyed our stay in this property.

Great location, great accommodations

This is in the perfect location for walks downtown or on the Shook's Run trail. Comfortable, clean, well-equipped. My husband particularly enjoyed the kettlecorn!

Sons Wedding

What a perfect place for my family to stay! It was exceptionally clean and exactly what J described. It was easy to find, in a very quiet neighborhood and you can walk downtown to eat. We had 4 adults and a 3 year old and it was perfect for our family.

Skip the hotels

The cottage was just what we hoped it would be for our first VRBO experience. We stayed there five nights and it was such a better experience than staying at a hotel. Apart from the extra space, it was simply a more homey environment. Having a kitchen and a full-size fridge for drinks and snacks, a back porch perfect for sitting and enjoying a glass of wine and a book… we stayed in far more than we would have at a hotel. The cottage felt like a home away from home. J was very responsive and informative leading up to our arrival and we had no significant problems at all with the rental. I had thought we might actually meet our host at some point, but that wasn’t the case. She did leave popcorn and coffee for us to enjoy, which was a sweet treat after a long travel day. We would certainly recommend staying at the cottage.

Great Stay!

Adorable cottage! It looks even better than the pictures. She provided special goodies and even had food supplies in refrigerator and cabinets. The beds were extremely comfy and the place immaculate. We want to stay again next year!

Absolutely perfect

This cottage was so charming and adorable and just what we needed to end our vacation. We traveled as a family with 2 teens and stayed at 3 very different rentals, and I think this was my favorite. There were local treats and waiting for us which was such a nice gesture and really made us feel welcome. The cottage was darling and provided us some much needed space from each other. My very favorite thing was a statue of a shih-tzu which made me giggle every time I walked past. What a delightful experience!

Amazing little cottage!!

My husband and I thought this was such a special little cottage, it was spectacularly clean smelled wonderful. It was so inviting!! Just perfect for a long weekend. Walking distance from downtown. Fun places all around! We really enjoyed this cottage. We will be back!! Thank you Jill for opening up your beautiful home and taking so much pride in it. It shows!!

Cottage is clean and cute and just the right size. Right next to down town.. we even walked to dinner one night..washer and dryer were amazing to have as well. Highly recommend!

Cozy Cottage Feel

We thought we were booking a tiny cottage downtown. Vern is actually attached to the owners home. This was perfectly okay for us, and it was very private. The house was immaculate and decorated so cutely. The little extras were so nice, and the host even helped us out with local recommendations. (Sherpa gardens... just go) We visited in fall, but if you go during warmer months and need central ac- you should know they have a window unit- a very beefy looking whole house window unit. They had so many little amenities and extras we felt pampered! Our only issue was that we couldn't do delivery as the only access was from the alley way and it was difficult to find. So if you rely on door dash on vacation you need to make other plans. However, this house is so centrally located there is food close by in every direction.

Quick Parents' Weekend Trip

We loved our stay at Vern Cottage. There was great communication and responsiveness from the host. So appreciated and helpful! The location was perfect. The house was clean and lovely. We would definitely choose to stay there again.
