Lovely home in a prime location

We had a wonderful time staying at Mermaid Way! It is a beautiful home and truly is in a phenomenal location. It was great having all private bathrooms. The beds were comfy and the kitchen is spacious and well stocked. The house is super close to Jockey's Ridge, Wright Brothers Memorial, tons of stores, and a quick stroll to the beqch access.

Fabulous weekend!

Our stay here was wonderful! The host was very responsive with the few questions we had! The hot tub and pool were perfect! Very close walk to the beach and great restaurants! Highly recommend this place for your OBX vacation!!

Overall Great Stay

Overall this was a great place to stay. The house and kitchen were well stocked with stuff you'd need. Every bedroom has a bathroom. The pool and hot tub are nice. You are minutes away from stores to buy anything you need. It's an easy walk to the beach even with toddlers / young kids. You can drive your car down and park near the beach if you don't want to walk. I recommend doing this early in the morning because parking fills up fast. The beach is great and you are right by a lifeguard which is nice when you are there with kids. There are a few things that we didn't like about the house. The cleaners beforehand could do a better job. There was mold on the shower curtain in the upstairs bathroom and some mold on the floor vents in the kids' downstairs bathroom. It didn't bother us much but some people might freak out. All the bedrooms besides one are downstairs and above the downstairs bedroom is the living area and kitchen. If you are trying to sleep downstairs (or have kids that you are trying to get to sleep) and people are still awake and moving around upstairs you can hear it in the bedrooms. For most people, this wouldn't be a big deal but we did need to play white noise for the kids when they slept. We knew from reading other reviews before we stayed that the house was next to a busy road. The traffic noise is pretty loud. That didn't bother us too much but sometimes it was annoying especially when sitting outside at night trying to have a conversation.

Family/friends summer trip

We had a very nice stay. The cleaning company could have done a little better, but it was nothing major. The rooms are very nice. The pool was great. Location is rather noisy due to traffic. House is very conveniently located to everything OBX.

Great vacation the house was great everything was clean and as it stated in the listing! Easy walk to the beach even with small children and the pool was fantastic! Would highly recommend and we are planning to stay here again! Thanks for a great vacation in the Outer Banks !!

Perfect spacious beach house!

Great walkable location centrally located. The pool and hot tub were a huge plus and the upstairs living space was perfect for our group hangouts!

Family wedding in Manteo

We had a great stay at Mermaid Way! We had a few issues that were reported to the property manager. A new washing machine was delivered Saturday, but we didn’t need to use it. We really enjoyed the hot tub!!!! Thanks for a great stay!

Nice house

We enjoyed our stay. The house was beautiful, but hot tub and showers weren’t clean. Rest of house was nice. Close to beach but on a busy road and could hear the traffic all the time. Really the only bad part about our stay, and our fault we didn’t look at the map to locate proximity to other landmarks other than the beach. Owner/property manager was very responsive and even offered us late check out with no charge since no future guest checking in right after us.

Excellent Spring Break

We had a lovely time at this property which was close to everything we wanted to explore. Loved having the grocery store and mini golf nearby. The heated pool and hot tub were used everyday. The street traffic noise was very loud when relaxing by the pool or on street side bedrooms.

Family Vacation

It was amazing the house was awesome and the owners were very nice. We had great communication with them the entire week. My grandson loves the beach and it close we went every day except Thursday due to the weather. He also loved the pool he is a water monkey. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone with family it was close to alot of sightseeing which we also did. Thank you again for the great week --The Baldwins and Hess's

Excellent house

We all loved it. I’ve been coming to OBX for more than 20 years, it was my girlfriend’s second trip, and her boys’ first. The boys fell in love with the place. This time I proposed to my now fiancée, and we had a memorable stay we’ll never forget. Two things: 1, to renters, be careful in the water on either side of a hurricane. I’ve been swimming those waters my whole life, and this year the surf and currents were VERY intense for the first couple days after Idalia left, the most intense I’ve seen. And 2, to the management, just one tiny constructive criticism; the beds are awfully stiff. Hop on Amazon and grab some of their tall mattresses and the house will be perfect.

50th birthday celebrations

The house was beautiful loved it but did have some issues with the shower tubs in 2 of the bedrooms that the drain didnt work, informed the owner of the house and was told they would have maintenance there the next day but never showed the whole week we were there also mold on the shower curtain as well but never got changed. Other than that, we had a wonderful stay very nice to have access to alot of shopping areas

A great family vacation home

My family & I had a great time staying at this property. It was a short easy walk to the beach. Renting the property and checking in/out was such an easy process. We had the option for heating the pool which was awesome for the kids in early June. We highly recommend this home!

Great family vacation

We had a family of 10, including two children ages 9 and 13 stay for a week this house. It was perfect! Everyone had their own bathroom and bedrooms plus the kitchen and family room were large enough for all of us. The kitchen is well stocked so most nights we just cooked a large dinner for everyone. But the biggest hit with everyone was the pool and hot tub. The house is only three blocks from the beach so we spent a lot of time there but we also spent an equal amount of time in the pool and hot tub. I would definitely stay again. We all really enjoyed it.

Awesome house with a great location to everything! Although the rain got in the way of a few our days, the house gave us everything we needed to feel right at home. The pool was the best part for the kids! The property manager was super attentive and helpful with any questions we had.

Loved Mermaid Way

Mermaid Way was a great stay! It's a few blocks from the beach, across from mini golf and a Publics - we felt close to everything. The kitchen had a great stock of appliances including a blender, Keurig and small regular coffee pot, several pots, pans, cutlery and bowls/plates/mugs for days. We made plenty of homemade meals without any trouble. There were extras like popcorn machine, spices, and a few pantry staples which was convenient. Do bring trash bags and extra towels for the beach if you have a large crew. The yard has a nice pool and enough grass to play cornhole. We would love to return!
