- Quaint and quirky farmhouse with all the comforts of home
This 1940’s farmhouse takes you back in time with a reminder of a slower pace and a visit to grandma’s. Swing on the porch and watch the creek flow. Surrounded by farmland with the South Fork of the New River at the end of the road, this home is less than fifteen minutes from all of the conveniences of town and all the adventures or peace and quiet you seek on your vacation.
This is a great choice for couples and/or families as there is plenty of space to spread out. There are two separate bedrooms downstairs with queen sized beds. All beds are doubly protected with mattress encasements and covers. Plenty of pillows and blankets. Linens also provided. The loft has two double beds with plenty of room for an air mattress or pack and play. The loft bedroom has a door between the bedroom and the sitting /play area.
The living room seating is comfortable with a large couch, large love seat and chair. There is a tv with a roku for your streaming services. We have new gas logs that do an amazing job heating the home.
The kitchen is stocked beyond basics; including coffee maker, toaster oven, microwave, sharp knives, mixing bowls, casserole dishes, plenty of plates, bowls, cups and silverware, etc. There is seating for 10 on the side screened-in porch. Seating for six at kitchen table. Charcoal grill provided.
The property extends across the street. For the adventurous, take a rustic hike through the creek and up the hills (map provided). Wildlife love to visit the creek area at feeding time. Bring water shoes
Plenty of hiking at Mt Jefferson, Mt Rogers, and area town parks.
Float down the New River in tube, kayak or canoe.
Come see the leaves in the fall and visit local pumpkin patches and corn mazes.
Christmas Tree farms are famous in Ashe County. Choose and cut your own tree!
Come in January for snow. Home has sleds and a decent hill. (Road is secondary but maintained by the DOT and usually cleared of snow within 24 hours).
Ski, snow board or snow tube Beech Mountain. Take a trail ride with one of the local horse farms.
Watch cheese being made and visit a local brewery.
Catch a $6 movie at the old theater in town. Check out the antiques in shops and markets all around the county. Be prepared to leave with treasures and new friends.
Drive the scenic by-ways and get lost in the beauty around us.
Take a ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Visit Grayson Highlands State Park in Virginia and see the wild ponies.
Spend the day at Tweetsie Railroad.
Return home to a fully stocked kitchen to make all of your favorites. Approximately 30 miles from Boone/App State.
Come, hide away, in the “coolest corner of NC”.
We charge $50 pet feel per pet up to 2. Please be mindful of muddy paws and clean up waste.
Please note that this home does not have a bath tub. It has a large shower with seat and movable shower head with hose.
There is an outside camera facing the driveway for security purposes when no one is at the house. We expect privacy on our vacations and extend the same respect to you. There are no other cameras on the property.

Por qué eligió esta propiedad
Our family has been vacationing in the area for twenty years. These mountains have inspired a love of nature and sense of adventure in both of our girls.
This house felt like home the minute we walked in. It’s cute and quirky and so comfortable. We also love to play in, watch and listen to the creek. We enjoy being able to offer a comfortable spot for other families to make memories and unwind.

Qué distingue a esta propiedad
I especially love the porches. There is a lot of room to play games or read a book. It’s just so peaceful. I love the swing and the big rock and exploring the creek. The fire place adds an extra bit of coziness to winter evenings.
