This was our second stay here and it never disappoints!! Janet is an incredible and friendly host and the apartment has everything we need and more. We loved hanging out on the patio and admiring her garden too with her dog Chloe! We can’t wait to be back

Well maintained little upstairs apartment (part of a house), pet friendly, with everything you need! The yard is large and beautiful. The location is great as it's a short distance to the historic district and it's in a cute little neighborhood. The bed is VERY comfortable. The host is incredibly nice and has a great deal of information available to read about things to do in the area. There is even a great DVD collection. Very clean and well decorated with beautiful paintings by the host!

Very charming, welcoming, clean and nicely decorated. The kitchen is well equipped for light cooking. The gardens are absolutely beautiful. The patio in the garden is a very nice place to have morning coffee, afternoon tea, drinks and if it’s not too hot, an evening fire in the fire pit. The host is wonderful and very helpful.

This was a fabulous apartment! Our host couldn’t have been nicer. The place was spotless and so comfortable! We enjoyed our stay so much. We will absolutely return. Also, 5 minutes from downtown!

Comfortable stay

This upstairs apartment was quite comfortable. Janet made every effort to ensure it was a great stay. The location was perfect for us with its approximation to downtown Beaufort and it being in a quiet neighborhood. I would certainly stay here again.

Heart of Beaufort

Stayed here while visiting family in the area. This place is in the middle of everything in Beaufort - though stays quiet as it's set back from Live Oaks. Janet was a great host with tons of recommendations and a very friendly dog.

Since I am a local and think Beaufort is the best place to live in the world (and I have traveled a lot), I'm always excited to share what is happening in the area and the best restaurants to visit. Place was noce and clean and close to front street. Includes everything you would need for a weekend stay. Host was nice and welcoming.

Beaufort Beach Getaway

I had a great time at Janet's apartment. She made check in very smooth and easy. The apartment has everything you could need, and even some great extras. Location is perfect for exploring the crystal coast. Definitely recommend!

Great experience!

Janet was a fantastic host and her place was perfect for my husband and me! We thoroughly enjoyed our porch time with Janet and her sweet Chloe. Her house is within walking distance to downtown Beaufort and it was nice to spend a day exploring.

Best Dog Friendly Place in Beaufort!

Janet is an excellent host. She has created a beautiful apartment that is comfortable and well decorated for my family. We especially loved the personal touches such as the bottle of wine and Janet’s special attention to care of our dog, Athena. We plan to return!

Comfortable stay in upstairs apartment

This beautiful knotty pine second floor apartment was surprisingly large. With separate, living, kitchen and huge bedroom. Janet was an excellent host and we enjoyed spending time with her on the lovely porch.

Home away from home.

Janet is an excellent hostess and provided everything we needed for our stay. One of the cleanest places I have ever stayed. We even found a bottle of wine waiting for us. Janet also offered late checkout because we arrived so late. Definitely worth visiting again. Thanks, Janet!

Old Homes Week

I selected Janet's apartment because it fit our need. We were four and the space was right for our needs. Also, I am a Beaufort native and I recognized the name of the hostess as a member of a family with whom I was familiar. My family had a very comfortable stay. The facilities were described precisely and the hostess helped us enjoy our stay.

Bed & Breakfast like service

Not pet tolerant but truly pet friendly. A beautiful panelled apartment that served as a home away from home. Janet wanted to spend time with us, even after working all day, sharing family stories of the home she grew up in and all the necessary info that first timers to Beaufort need to know.

An absolutely lovely getaway!

Oh man. My partner and I had such a great stay here. Janet, the owner, was incredibly friendly, responsive and hospitable. She even had a bottle of wine waiting for us when we arrived. She is a Salter as well, which connects back to Salter’s Path, which was really cool and added a bit of history to our stay. The apartment above her home was rustic (in all the right ways) and clean, filled with paintings she’d done over the years which were a beautiful addition. Whenever we had questions she was more than willing to assist. We loved it here and will definitely be back!

Lovely apartment in Beaufort!

What an amazing find! We were treated to a bottle of wine and juice for my 5 year old upon arrival! This cottage apartment has everything you need and more while staying in beautiful Beaufort. The owner has taken time to make sure you have all you need will staying there, from beautiful decor to a kitchenette, linens, and more! Take time to get to know the owner, Janet and her fur baby, Chloe! Janet will welcome you with a smile and give you some great tips on where to go eat, shop and explore! Also, get to know Chloe, Janet’s precious dog. My daughter played fetch with her in the evenings & fell in love with her, you will too! We can’t wait to return!

I am a retired Instructional Technology Facilitator who taught in the Carteret County School System. Currently, I manage two RV parks, five vacation rentals, and a marina. I love cooking, painting, resin art, and working in the yard and garden, but most of all, I love to travel (the reason I continue to work to support my travel habits). Chloe, my Aussiedoodle, and I welcome you to "A Salter's Path". We love to meet our guests on the porch around 5 pm for a beverage and to get to know each other. Since I have lived in the area for most of my life, I am your concierge and can advise you on restaurants and places to see and visit. So porch time is important! This property is in a quiet neighborhood and within walking/biking distance from downtown Beaufort. Beaufort is a historical town that will take you back to the 1700s. The double-decker bus tour will show you around town and the area's history. The Maritime Museum features Blackbeard's Queen Anne’s Revenge Artifacts and explores what working in the waters for a living around Beaufort was like. Beaufort has hosted a Pirate Invasion every year since the 1950s. Dressing like a pirate is a good idea, or they may just kidnap you and take you back to their encampment! If you can’t come that weekend, there is a pirate ghost walk you may want to checkout. Water sports include kayaking, paddleboarding, boat tours, and parasailing. Numerous boat trips are available for you to take and explore Cape Lookout, Rachel Carson Estuary, Sand Dollar Island, and Shackleford Banks, where the Spanish wild mustangs are located. Book the Crystal Coast Lady, tour the waterways, or take the Lookout catamaran on a sunset cruise. Oh, do not forget to spend time in downtown Beaufort; the shopping and the restaurants are fabulous.

I am! I love to meet people and share my knowledge of the area. You can play downtown all day, but come home to a quiet, safe neighborhood. I have two bikes you are welcome to use, and avoid both the parking and the fees during the day, downtown parking is free after 5 pm. We are only 15 minutes from Atlantic Beach and Fort Macon, five minutes from the Beaufort Club Golf Course, and twenty minutes from the Core Sound Waterfowl Museum and Heritage Center.
