Charming Farm Abode with gourmet food and access to lake, trails & farm fun

The charming "Innlet" is minutes' walk to a beach and dock on Lake Pattagansett or to seasonal farm animals or to trails through the woods. It adjoins the Inn at White Gate Farm and guests may book in conjunction with Inn guests or be completely independent. Prepare your own meals with our organic ingredients in the updated kitchen or purchase prepared meals, sourdough bread, pastries, eggs and more in the online store. On Saturdays the farm stand is open from 9 to 2 and on some summer Saturdays FarmFest occurs from 3 to 7 with live music, hot pizza and a raw bar. Guests can fish in the pond or lake or use the kayaks and stand up paddleboards, which are shared with other guests.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The farm is absolutely stunning, and our dog loved wandering the trails with us. We didn't have time to use the kayaks but did enjoy hanging out by the lake. The beds were comfortable and clean, and the space was exactly what we needed for 4 adults and a dog.

This 2 bedroom, two-level apartment is lovely and well-appointed for two couples staying with a small child. The grounds and deck are wonderful. Thank you for sharing your farm and family story.

The inlet was a perfect spot for our little family. The lake is beautiful, and the farm is conveniently located near several local beaches. The host is very friendly and helpful. We didn't stay over the weekend, so I can't speak to the farm stand. The two bedrooms and bathroom at the inlet are just as pictured, and there is a cute deck to relax. We would definitely visit again!

The hand towels need to be replaced as they were bleach stained and ratty! The shower leaks. The shower curtain was too small to cover the entire bathtub! Toilet paper holder is broken and kept falling over! Not to mention, in the middle of the night, when I turned on the light and used the bathroom, I looked out the window and DIRECTLY below it was the firepit!!! Where a man was sitting staring straight at me watching while I was using the restroom!!! Unbelievable!! I had to lay in the floor to pull my pants up and crawl to the window to pull the shade all the way down!! I was horrified! To think me and my children could be watched every time we were in the bathroom is beyond belief!!!! There needs to be a permanent fix for this now!! No mirrors and terrible lighting in the bedrooms. The kitchen is horribly equipped! Dishes were very sparse, silverware was almost nonexistent! Why not Just invest in a 20 silverware package? It’s desperately needed! Also, a full sets of dishes, or two, is a must!!! The furniture was absolutely gross!!! There wasn’t even enough seating for us to all sit down at the same time!!!! We had to bring the patio chairs in from outside just to have enough seats to sit!! You make enough money on this rental to invest in some decent linens, kitchen supplies, and seating!!! I’ve never left a review on any VRBO property we’ve ever stayed at. However, this was the absolute worst place we’ve ever booked! Clean, friendly, just so poorly equipped!!!

Beautiful property. Wonderful to experience an exceptional organic farm with amazing produce. Loved the inlet. Fun to be there for their Farmfest. Saw hawks, bald eagles and osprey.

Lovely property and exactly as advertised. Can’t say enough about how great Kevin is! We were there for the Blevins & Kerwin wedding - everything was superb. Just perfect!

Overall it’s a beautiful property and unique. The innkeeper Marc was great and fun to see him on his wheels around. Across the way is a beautiful lake and he had made sure we had kayaks and things to enjoy . My only recommendation is to ask if there’s a wedding during your stay . I would have been very happy and 5 star, if I had known when I booked there was a wedding and the premises would be very busy and a lot going on I would have considered somewhere else( especially for the price ) we really enjoy being outside and liked there’s a porch but felt uncomfortable with people working and guest walking through . At one point greasy food wax paper on our table when we had left for dinner . The wedding evening was u til 10 pm obviously wonderful for them not so much us . Only because of our expectations. We came to CT for our sons work at Yale and chose not to stay in New Haven bc it’s not peaceful. We were told 2 days before so that was a shock. Nice people all around just felt not privacy and peaceful unless we left to go to lake. Marc was great as he made sure our parking spot was not taken . A few suggestions to host / owner …. There a metal door stopper that stuck up out of the deck it need a rubber cover . We stubbed our foot pretty bad on it . Perhaps another comfy chair downstairs for a family visiting . Flies were aggressive so we went citronella kitchen was nice and the place was spacious. Maybe in description state the rental is connected to a working kitchen.

I appreciate this fair review and apologize for a less than peaceful stay with all the wedding chaos. I have just sent you a refund of $400. Going forward we'll reserve the Innlet for wedding people only! Pauline

Lovely Stay

Our family had a lovely stay at the "Innlet." The grounds were beautiful and fun to explore, and the location was an easy drive to many restaurants and activities. The Saturday farm stand was wonderful and so convenient. We look forward to returning!

Pauline's mother Ruth Lord purchased White Gate Farm in 1974. Pauline and her husband David Harlow moved from California in 2000 to turn it into a working organic farm. After Ruth died in 2014, they turned her house into an Inn and the converted ice house into a "Rustic Lakeside Cabin." They have just added the "Innlet." All three spots are listed on VRBO.
