You will not find another cabin like this one! The Nest @ Hoot Owl Hollow is like 2 cabins in one, the king suites are very private. Professionally decorated with comfort & style in mind. Enjoy beautiful woods view & walk to Mentone's village & Brow. Renovated classic 1880's log cabin, perfect place to unwind & reboot in comfy, rustic/modern style. MBR ensuite bath w/2 vanities, clawfoot tub, shower. GBR w/bath & separate bunkroom for kids of all ages. Modern kitchen w/gas range . Covered front porch & stone patio with wood fireplace, wood included. Living room has gas fireplace & comfortable seating. Perfect for couples/ families!
You will feel like you are in the middle of the woods YET you are only a couple of "blocks" away from Mentone's Log Cabin Village, The Wildflower Cafe (3/10 mile) , Elevation Bistro (4/10 mile) & Mentone Market (4/10 mile) .
On Saturday's you can walk to Mentone's Farmer Market, next to the Mentone Inn (2/10 mile walk) & have lunch @ Fontastic Food Truck (slow cooking, worth the wait!)
Brow Park is a 7/10 mile walk from The Nest.
DeSoto Falls is 3.1 miles or less than 10 minute drive.
DeSoto State Park is 8.6 miles or 15-20 minute drive.
Little River Canyon Center is 18 miles or 27 minute drive.
You may see turkey, deer, groundhogs or even a bear walking through the woods of The Nest.

Delightful Stay

Extremely pleasant property with no negatives! Rain most of the stay but the tin roof, fireplace and comfortable furnishings made it a most delghtful stay. Already looking forward to a return visit.

Getting renewed in the Lord

Such a wonderful time in this charming cabin. Pat and Juli are wonderful hosts. And our visitor “Otis” was just a precious gift from the Lord visiting us. Otis is a sweet black lab and his owner is just as sweet. Recommend this charming cabin. The ladies of The CALL (Church at Lay Lake) will be back.

Wonderful cabin in the woods

Arrived to a clean and warm cabin. Communication with Juli was great and she went above and beyond for us. The bunk bed room was a thrill for my 7 and 4 year grandsons. Only slight surprise was that the bunk room is accessed through the second king bedroom but not an issues for us. The cabin stayed very comfortable even with temperatures dropping to 20 degrees. The gas fireplace was great. Holiday decorations and the Hoot Owl theme were nice. We loved the location being close to Mentone Market and DeSoto Falls. Sadly, we missed the snow by 7-8 days. Would definitely stay again.

Family weekend

We traveled with our grown daughters. The area is beautiful with lots of hiking and waterfalls. It was nice to come back to this cabin that had everything we needed to cook meals. We were even able to do our laundry and then enjoy an evening by the fire.

Magical Mentone

This was our second stay in a month. Needless to say, we LOVE this whimsical, artistic escape just off the main roads through Mentone and to Desoto Falls. Plenty of outdoor space for our Golden Retriever too!

Birthday Getaway

What a WONDERFUL weekend !!! A quaint, relaxed area with so much charm ! The cabin was perfect for any need ! We went hiking at Cloudland State Park , relaxed buy a fire and grilled , visited the town market !!! So many little gems to uncover in Mentone ! And I can not mention how wonderful Juli was ! She even mailed home clothes that had been forgotten at checkout ... She truly goes above and beyond to make sure your stay is everything it should be ... Will definitely stay again !

Nice getaway

Cabin was a nice getaway during the Christmas holiday. The owners were great at communicating with us about an issue with the heat. It broke the day we were checking in and they called to discuss the issue. They provided us space heaters to use along with the gas log fireplace. It worked out great. Fontastic Food truck is right down the street and worth stopping at on the weekend. Our dogs enjoyed the cabin and meeting the neighborhood armadillo. We were all able to relax which was the main point of the trip. Cabin is unique in a good way and there's a nice outdoor space when the weather good.

Perfect weekend getaway

My husband and I loved the property, felt like we were visiting a cabin that had been in the family for years. All of the artwork, unique furniture, and details made for a cozy visit. The bathtub was perfect, restful sleep on the bed, and we also loved the outdoor area. The full moon was beautiful through the trees, and during the day watching the leaves fall was so relaxing. Not to mention so close to everything! Super fast wifi too, which is great because we had no other reception in the area. Decided to stay an extra day last minute and Juli made it happen with little effort. Thanks again for a great stay!

Wonderful trip to Mentone

Mentone is a quaint little town. A must see. Our cabin was very nice. 1880 log cabin that has been renovated. Hosts were very nice. We went for the longest yard sale. Had a blast.

Pat and I are both designers and artists whose focus has been on vacation rental properties along the Gulf Coast and now in the quaint mountain hide-away of Mentone, AL for over 30 years. We enjoy creating spaces that are comfortable and comforting.

We consider ourselves "Stewards of the Hollow" and strive to take good care of the land here and creatures here. Juli's Mom (Henrietta aka Henri aka Mama Tut) purchased the property in the 90's and hosted many Thanksgiving gatherings here. It is in honor of Henri (who was a Hoot!) that we share the hollow with others, in the hopes that you too will feel the peace that this land offers, and leave rejuvenated and recharged.

IN TOWN BUT FAR OUT! The wonderful thing about Hoot Owl Hollow is that it feels like you are far off in the woods, yet you are really right "downtown". We use quotes because our town is so small we call it a village. To be so small we have 2 wonderful restaurants in walking distance plus you can pick up snacks, to go casseroles, meats, cheeses, beer, wine at Mentone Market. Looking out into the woods you may see deer, turkey or even bear! It's OK, they are just doing their thing. Sit quietly and watch or make some noise and they will leave.
