Maine is called 'Vacationland'--Mt. Desert Island, home of Bar Harbor & Acadia National Park, is an incredibly beautiful place where people come to relax, to play and to appreciate all that nature has to offer. 'Spruce Lodge at Hadley Point' has been designed so that you and your family can stay in a wonderful and comfortable environment while you explore and experience all the beauty that surrounds you! Our charming 3-level home has a bright, open floor plan where the living room, dining area & kitchen share one big space on the main level. Just down the hall is a lovely bedroom, full bath and laundry room. Upstairs is a private loft with a balcony and large separate bedroom. Downstairs there is the family room with game table, beverage refrigerator and a really CUTE bedroom that we call 'The Rose Room' and another spacious full bath. Spruce green (of course) is our theme color & it accents 'miles' of natural pine, fun wallpapers & clean painted walls! The furniture, dishes, art & collectibles were chosen with the Maine Woods in mind!

Activities: The beach at Hadley Point which is only a block away is a public area where you can launch a boat, have picnics, sunbathe, skip rocks and watch for seals and other wildlife. This is a favorite spot for the kayak rental companies to start and end their day trips-it's fun to watch them come and go- you might want to join them! You can swim, boat, hike and ride bikes on your own or go out on a whale-watching tour or sunset cruise on Frenchman's Bay. There are fantastic restaurants, great shopping and even mini golf courses nearby. There is an awesome 'Art Deco' movie theater called 'The Criterion' located in downtown Bar Harbor and two evenings a week there are band concerts on the Village Green. Several art shows are held during the summer and cruise ships come into the harbor weekly! Mt. Desert Island is truly an Unforgettable Place with something for Everyone!

The set up was ideal. We were there just to sleep and play games in the evening. Lorie was very responsive and they even blew the leaves that had fallen off the deck while we were there. Nice place. Quiet. Close enough to everything we wanted to do.

Spruce Lodge was simply awesome!!! The house was just fantastic, clean and with all the necessities at hand, especially the kitchen which was well stocked with everything we needed. Lorie checked in with us to make sure all was okay. We loved the location and will be back.

Wonderful Stay at Spruce Tree

The home was clean and had everything we needed. Location is great! Quiet and close to Bar Harbor and Acadia. Lori is a great hostess sending us recommendations for activities and restaurants. She checked in after we arrived to make sure we had everything we needed. Because of life circumstances not everyone in the group could attend as planned-but all hope to return to Spruce Tree!

Beautiful and comfortable house in a great location

Perfect oasis

This location was just what we needed Close to town for restaurants and shopping But best of all close to Arcadia National Park which we enjoyed hiking and photographing for four days, loved it! Deer were right out our window the very first morning.

Comfort in a perfect location

Spruce Lodge was a great vacation spot. Not only is it in a great location to enjoy all of Acadia NP and Bar Harbor, but also great accommodations. It was totally equipped with everything a vacationer would need. Thank you Lorie for all the attention to detail and checking in on us to be sure everything was ok

Comfortable, roomy, and well equipped home!

Spruce Lodge made for a great stay for our family of four! The home was very comfortable and had several common areas to enjoy. Lorie provided everything you could need, including items like coolers, beach towels, extra pillows and blankets, and a well equipped kitchen. She also provided clear instructions and was easy to contact and gave thorough information. Thank you!

Most Amazing Vacation!

Lori's property is exactly as described and more! Everything one could possibly need is neatly arranged in the charming cozy home. My family of 6 very much enjoyed our stay at Spruce Lodge and Lori went OVER THE TOP to make certain we had everything we needed. The home is spotless and was the perfect space to host our family vacation. We will be back for sure!

Wonderful!

My husband, our three daughters, and I stayed at Spruce Lodge a few days in May/June 2011. The house was so spacious, clean, and well supplied. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful when booking our stay. We really enjoyed hiking at Acadia NP, and it was great to be able to come back to Spruce Lodge and relax afterwards. Our two youngest (10 and 8) could go play downstairs while we cooked or relaxed upstairs. The location was great. We were very comfortable and exceedingly pleased with our stay.

Perfect Setting for our Maine Family Vacation

Spruce Lodge was the perfect home base for our family (myself, my husband, and two teenagers) to explore Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, and surrounding area. We loved the quiet, woodsy setting and the convenience of being just a short drive from everything we wanted to do and near an Island Explorer bus stop. The property clean, homey, comfortable, and with lots of amenities (beach towels, kitchen items, etc.) that made our stay easier. Plenty of room for teenagers to have their own space and my husband and I loved sitting out on the deck drinking coffee in the mornings. Lorie is a great host - she offered great info about things do do in the area and responded to any questions we had promptly. We loved Spruce Lodge and would definitely stay there again!!

Spectacular vacation Home

It’s a home away from home! Owner’s attention to detail is exquisite. Totally filled with amenities including white out for postcard mistakes. All beds are comfy as well as pillows and the quilts are just beautiful. The downstairs level is as comfortable a family room as I’ve seen along with bathroom and bedroom. Middle level boasts a wrap around porch with nice view of Hadley point. The loft bedroom is amazing. The only drawback to Acadia retreat is we wanted to just stay home and enjoy the comfy, cozy of this 5 star vacation home. We WILL be back.

Lovely Home in Quiet Picturesque Setting

Lori, the owner, was very helpful and accessible before and after we arrived. Her home is spotless and was ideal for our needs with bedrooms on 3 separate floors which afforded the 5 adults with privacy. Lori, thought of everything - bathrooms had toilet paper, tissues, soap, towels, kitchen was fully well equipped, and laundry room was stocked with detergent. The house came with beach towels and chairs. We loved the walk to Hadley Pt to watch the sunset and meteor showers! The home has a lovely deck to sit outside and enjoy the surrounding woodlands. Her home is a short drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. We came for a destination wedding but can see why people love to vacation here!

Great stay for 3 happy, relaxed couples

As stated so many times in previous reviews, this home does not disappoint! The couple in the lower level enjoyed their privacy and said they never heard us on the main level. The couple in the upstairs bedroom were pleasantly surprised at the size and comfort of their bedroom. We had no problems with sharing the main floor bathroom. As a home base, it could not be better. We could go "to town", to the other side of the island, and to the mainland for the Schoodic Peninsula and never had a problem with getting anywhere. We even went to the campground to ride the Island Explorer on our hiking day so we didn't have to worry about parking the car, and that left the car for the couple that did not want to hike. On a side note, we ate out a lot since we all wanted to have so many of the different seafood options that were available. We found West Street Cafe to have fabulous food and reasonable prices. Also, Hadley Point Beach is an easy walk from the house. We were there at high tide, low tide, sunset and sunrise. (Only me for sunrise, as I was awake at 4 a.m. anyway.) Thanks again, Lorie. We will definitely recommend your home to family and friends.

We had a wonderful trip to Bar Harbor and this cottage was in the perfect location. Quiet mornings and a nice walk to Hadley Point. The town of Bay Harbor was a short drive where we enjoyed shopping and eating. We drove to Southwest Harbor to catch a lobster boat and caught, learned about and ate lobster. Lorie was an exceptional host. She contacted us to ensure we had everything we needed and even brought Vitamin C, tea and honey when one of us came down with a cold. She is thoughtful in every way.The house was exactly as described and looked. Thanks Lorie!

Summer family vacation

It all went well and as expected for the price. Kitchen had the basics. Twilight was particularly lovely as the deck has views to the west. All things MDI were about a 20 minute drive so great for us. Except for one night the neighborhood was quiet.

Super clean, cozy and cute. Fit us very well and is in a great location. Can easily walk to Hadley Point for sunsets and get to Acadia as well as Bar Harbor. The large deck is really nice to enjoy coffee and meals on. Lori is a great communicator and made things super easy. Highly recommend!

The Spruce Lodge was very clean and well organized. This place has every home essential that you could think of. Perfect setup for a family of four. We made lifetime memories at Spruce Lodge. Lori was a tremendous hostess and an excellent communicator. My family and I loved that the beach was just a walk away.

Absolutely Perfect

This was an absolutely wonderful place to stay. Lorie was excellent communicating with us and very helpful. We played board games on the outside deck and relaxed in the spacious house after exploring Acadia. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. It was very clean , and we enjoyed the Maine decorations. Perfect in every way!

Clean, cozy and darling place!

This is one of those places people seek to find for a nice vacation! The place is so clean too! It is among the trees and beauriful area. Owner is very friendly and was always available for communicating with. I very highly recommend this place! You will not be disappointed. We loved our time there!

I was born in Bar Harbor and my entire family lives or works only 5 minutes from our rental homes. My husband was born in Wisconsin and he fell in love with MDI the first time I took him there in 1996. He knew even before I did that we MUST have our own property there so that we would always have an excuse to go north whenever we could!
Mt. Desert Island is such a beautiful place - we both are so thankful that we can experience it many times a year and I must say that we are struck by the beauty and the solitude every time we go 'home.'

We hope that you truly have a wonderful time whether it is your first experience or you have been visiting for 20 years.

My Dad's motto is...'If you've never been to Maine you should go and if you have been to Maine...you'll be back!" Of course he is pretty bias on the subject - having lived in Bar Harbor all his life! I wish everyone could get one of his Island tours-they are awesome to say the least!

He started working as a chauffeur at age 15 and he can tell some stories. He and my Mom owned several restaurants and motels and even developed the largest campground on the Island, Bar Harbor Campground which my youngest brother now manages.
Seems like our family has been in the hospitality trade forever and...with all that experience we have certainly learned how to take good care of our guests!
