Pats at Punaluu. If you are looking for a quiet Oahu country beach, then drive an hour from Honolulu airport through spectacular mountains and ocean views to the small town of Punaluu along the country coast of Oahu. Beach Cottage is located steps from the beach, BBQ area and beautiful grounds. Studio is on the second floor and has a king bed and double bed, sleeps 2-3 people comfortably. Fully equipped kitchen, Wi-Fi internet, free assigned parking, cable TV, beach towels and washer/dryer down stairs. Mins from famous Pipeline surfing beach, Polynesian Cultural Center, Turtle Bay Resort and Kualoa Ranch and many hiking trails. Pool and free weight room. Per city and County of Honolulu 30 day minimum bookings.

The ideal stay in Oahu

What a beautiful place. We stayed for 2 weeks in April. This side of the island was perfect. A beautiful morning sun rise, clean quiet beach, and a great place to say. No business traffic like the city - unless you prefer that. We walked the beach a few times, saw tons of turtles in the distance. We had our own personal alarm clock, courtesy of Mr. Rooster - we did appreciate him and his consistency lol! In the evening, the view was beautiful from the window. The weather was beautiful, we never felt hot, as most places do not have AC and utilize fans. The place was cute and quaint. We encountered some friendly ants, but it’s no different than here in MO where we live. They are even worse here actually. None the less, ants are harmless - just keep the place tidy, maybe close up the trash bag too if you’re bothered. Funny how people act as if their own home never has even 1 bug. They were doing some construction but it was no bother to us, they were at the other end of the property. The property was clean! You will likely encounter rain at night, while sleeping, so I recommend closing up the windows, leaving a bit of gap for air flow. We met several people that lived there and some the friendliest people we encountered. Highly recommend staying here to enjoy a beautiful experience daily. I truly wish I could post photos from the mornings and evenings. Words cannot describe the view!

Beautiful view, steps from the beach

My husband and I visited for our honeymoon, and the view/location could not have been more perfect. You can hear the ocean waves from inside, and you wake up to the sunrise. It was only steps away from the beach, and we walked the beach every night. Two ceiling fans, two tower fans, and cracked windows (screened) created perfect airflow and a comfortable temperature inside. The host was very accommodating when we needed to change our stay dates, and when we asked to add an additional night; however, communication was difficult at times. I needed to contact Vrbo support multiple times to assist with paying for the additional night. Our first night here was also our travel day from the mainland U.S., and by that morning we had not received check-in details - I had to message asking for the unit number, access code, and parking information. When we arrived, the access code given did not work. The host responded promptly to messages; however, these details should be provided proactively. Overall, I highly recommend this cottage and would return! It’s in a great location, the view is stunning, and being directly on a not-crowded beach is priceless.

Had a great time in this beautiful location. Saw amazing green sea turtles everyday…. On shore and swimming near shore. Would love to come back and would stay here again.

Steps away from water!

Disappointed

Stayed at this property twice before (not the same unit) although 15 years ago. It's not as nice as it was. The unit itself was difficult for short to average people with a high table and chairs and ceiling fan controls. The "kitchen" is barely functional and there really aren't any good restaurants close.

A confusing stay

The property looks quite rundown but is fine in the inside. It’s got a homey vibe. The host was pretty bad at communicating with us. They left us instructions like the laundry was downstairs, but it was unclear where. Likewise, it was unclear how to find our designated unit. When we finally realized there was a manager meant to answer our questions, things got bettter, but I think the so-called host should have told us to direct questions to the manager from the outset.

Our first VRBO experience has is spoiled!

Our condo was so comfortable, and the location was everything I dreamed of. When George, the owner, wrote that the beach was just steps away he was so right! Our experience was so positive that VRBO will be our first search for our next trip. As for this property, do not hesitate to choose this one! Condo was stocked with everything you could need for meals, check out process was simple. We want to come back to this condo again!

Wonderful place.

Wake up with the sunrise in the morning and sleep with the sound of waves at night. This place is truly a Hawaiian treasure. There is no other place as wonderful as this. Thank you for renting this room to us. We will be back again.

Beautiful and Relaxing

We loved the view and the sounds of the ocean! The ocean and beach are beautiful. We were able to see sea turtles swimming and, on the beach, such a bonus! There is plenty of water and beach gear to use while at the property. The kitchen is small but very well stocked. No air conditioning but plenty of fans provided to be able to stay comfortable while inside. We had an issue with the wifi but once reported it was taken care of quickly. Thank you for sharing this wonderful property with us.

Relaxing Beach Getaway

This beachfront condo was perfect! The beach is a 10 foot walk from the unit. The lanai was very comfortable throughout the day with the sea breeze (September). The snorkeling is great - many interesting corals, some fish, and even a sea turtle. It’s not the best snorkeling on the island, but it’s very convenient. The kitchen was well stocked with essentials and cooking utensils. There are many beach accessories available including 2 beach chairs. We enjoyed ourselves and would highly recommend.

Old friend reunion

The Cottage was absolutely the perfect place to stay. It had everything one could need for a beach escape. The snorkeling was a highlight. We saw sea turtles which was magical. Look no further, this is where you want to stay!

Steps away from the beach

Great stay for the price! The rental has every amenity you could possibly need. Beach gear, hats, games, toiletries, etc. The beach is very relaxing and the pool was refreshing. The contruction wasnt noticable, the parking space is convenient, and the location is perfect for exploring the island. Mahalo!

Slice of paradise!

Such a great stay! Our host, George was very professional and quick to respond to anything we needed. Check in was simple and worked on our time. The property has a gorgeous ocean view and yard. Despite the big condo building next door, the beach was never crowded and was a great place to hangout and escape the crowd. So many great food places and necessities were very close and allowed for a comfortable stay. I will say, I was worried about the no AC when we booked, but it was actually quite comfortable and very manageable!! This is a great property located in such a great part of town. Go for it!!

Just what we were looking for

This place was just what we were looking for after spending the first half of our trip on the south side of the island. Communication with the property owners was prompt and easy. The beach is steps from your door and offers great snorkeling with plenty of fish and turtles. It’s in a great location with is access to plenty of great local food and businesses. Would definitely stay here again!

Wonderful Stay!

This is the third time me any my family have stayed at Pats at Punaluu. We have stayed in the building units before, and this cottage was definitely better! It was spacious and the high ceilings made it feel even bigger. And the ocean view!!! So beautiful to see the sunrise every morning and the waves throughout the day. We had a wonderful time!

Heaven on Earth

This place not only has everything you need it has everything you would want. Only steps away from the beach. The owner answers all your questions in a timely manner making check in seamless. We are leaving today for a cruise and we both wish we had not book the cruise and spent our whole vacation here instead.

Awesome stay at an awesome place

Wow! What a great location! Superb beach for snorkeling, beautiful views, the sunrises were spectacular and great people all around. The amenities were more than expected! Although we had stopped to purchase several staples, we found them already there! Not sure if previous visitors left them, but we had dish soap, laundry soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, salt and pepper, ketchup, mayo, mustard and even sugar! Plenty of bathing towels AND beach towels! Absolutely gracious and appreciated. The decor is so charming and the atmosphere was refreshing and very relaxing. Really hate to leave.

TERRIBLE experience with this host!!

This is literally the first negative review I have ever posted in my life. Typically if I am not satisfied with an experience, I just don’t leave a review. I am making an exception in this case because this host scammed me out of $185 (which I am currently disputing). The beach and setting are nice. The building is old and dilapidated. Unpleasant odors in the unit and around the building. Door locks/scanner for fitness room were broken. Smoke or air detector in unit was constantly beeping for no apparent reason. There is construction in process, so it’s loud, and reserved parking spot is regularly used by others. Regular work truck traffic also blocks entry and parking. Shower has very weak water pressure and takes a long time to heat up. Pool is tiny. No hot tub. I would have ignored all of this however, if the host hadn’t stuck me with a completely BOGUS “cushion damage/laundering” fee of $185 after my stay. I made multiple attempts to communicate with him regarding the erroneous charge, to try and get some clarity on the matter, but was completely ignored. There is absolutely no way we caused any damage to his cushions! We barely used them and everything looked just the way we found it when we left. The host lives on the mainland. I know this because I mailed his parking pass back to him. So, he is either dishonest OR he got bad info from his property manager. The fact that he wouldn’t communicate regarding the matter is unacceptable to me. I definitely won’t stay here again and would tell others to AVOID THIS HOST!
