The Lone Oak River Retreat on The San Bernard River - Fisherman's Paradise!

Beautiful Waterfront River House located directly on The San Bernard River. Excellent Fishing, Swimming, Kayaking or Boating all from the comfort of your dock! The Lone Oak River Retreat offers it all. This 2 bedroom 1 bathroom home comes fully appointed with everything you need to have a relaxing vacation. Bring your poles or use ours and enjoy night fishing under the green lights or just relax and enjoy the river views. There are crab traps available for guest to use as well. We have lots of outdoor games for the family to enjoy. Come play cornhole, darts, giant beer pong or use the 2 kayaks provided to guests to explore the river. At night enjoy smores around the fire pit.
Have your own boat? Bring it with you! The boat slip is right across the river from The Lone Oak.
Located 20 minutes from the beach and 40 minutes south of Houston.
Kayaks, Games, Fishing poles and Crabtraps are provided FREE for our guest to use during their stay. THERE IS NO WI-FI at The Lone Oak.

Fun fishing and resting

Last minute trip to unwind and fish and that's exactly what we did. We caught so many fish off the pier. House is cozy and cute. Not a lot to it but perfect for fishing and resting. At night the sunset was amazing. The scenery reminds you of an African sunset. You have to see it to truly appreciate it. Just beautiful. We were not disappointed. We will come again.

River Front Tranquility

The small living quarters were clean and neat. I appreciated the remodel, it was quite a nice place inside. The property owner was responsive to questions and very pleasant to deal with. Turn on the green light at dark and it attracts all sorts of aquatic life. We caught redfish, hard head, sand trout, and saw shrimp and gar as well. My son hooked something very large that broke the line...

We had a great family vacation

We had a blast while staying here. Except the craziest mosquitoes, which has nothing to do with the place/host. I loved the newly remodeled house. The bathroom need a towel hanger, though. And for the readers information, note that there is no internet/wifi connection available. The host made it clear on the list but I didn’t take notice. You will have to use your data/hot spot to use internet or TV. Overall, it was a fun stay. We had fishing for three days and got couple of fish and crabs. Thank you!

Great Weekend Getaway!

My husband and son rented this place with some friends for the weekend and they had such a good time. The place was just as the listing described and very relaxing. They didn’t catch any fish but that could’ve been user error, lol. Julia was very helpful and communicative and just a wonderful host! They said they would definitely stay there again!

Nice Getaway With Our 6 Year Old Granddaughter

We wanted a nice quiet getaway with our 6 year granddaughter and I like to fish. This home was clean, well stocked with dishes, silverware, cofee maker, etc. The little one was excited to catch a black drum on her rod & reel and 4 blue crabs in the supplied crab traps. The host was very responsive and answered the few questions I had. The dock seems very new and the green lights shining in the water at the dock's end are a nice feature! I took my own rods & reels, but there were some there that that would have been fine. Anything you might need is either 2 minutes away at the dollar store or 15 minutes away in Lake Jackson. There were both inside and outside games to play. I look forward to returning with my fishing kayak.

Relaxing, Quiet, Peaceful River Retreat

This place I will definitely go back. So quiet, relaxing, and peaceful to get away from your hectic life. Clean and well equipped. It was only my husband and me for our 29th anniversary. We had so much fun fishing during the day and also at night. They have so many activities on site for the whole family to play. Julia, thank you for sharing your retreat. Trip was awesome.

Outstanding Stay & Host

The stay is a 5 star getaway and my 2nd reservation. It's quiet and easy to unwind and reset yourself. The lighted fishing deck is an extra plus. The home is organized, clean and has everything needed. I'll definitely return soon.

Great fishing

Our kids caught fish and a crab. Watching the lake once dark, illuminated with a green light was a special joy. Kids found some coloring books and really appreciated them. We loved the convenience of fishing poles, proximity of the ocean and lots of great dining options near by.

Most relaxing beautiful weekend

Absolutely fabulous place!! Beautiful home, gorgeous view, most comfortable bed and sheets ever! I wanted to take them home with me lol Julia could not be any nicer and more accommodating! Would definitely go back!

The Finest on The San Bernard River!

I was looking for solitude, quiet and a place to fish. The Lone Oak River Retreat delivered. I am deeply grateful to have been able to inhabit Julia's space for a few days; clean and organized living spaces. The private pier was steps away provided great fishing and crabbing with green lights which was a added plus. I didn’t want to say goodbye, so I will definitely reserve again. Ciao, for now :)

Father’s Day weekend retreat

Beautiful place to relax and retreat. Enjoyed the privacy of the property, made full use of outdoor spaces to catch up with grownup sons with activities, games and cookouts every evening. Even our 4pawed family had a blast.Definitely need to comeback.

Relax and Escape the Busy Life

We came down for a short family trip to fish, crab and visit the beach. The property was just as described, very cute. We were able to catch some blue crab and and nice size redfish! We are already taking about coming back just to plan a fishing/crabbing trip.

Didn't want to leave

I loved the fact that we could just unplug as a family. Wish we stayed more than two nights, definitely booking several more times this year ( I hope) next time just me and the hubby lol . The place seemed brand new! Communication with the hosts was excellent! It was a perfect spot for a quick getaway just wishing it was a longer one! We ended up with a out a dozen crab! One catfish!
