Welcome to Ray's Place at Norris Lake, the Marth’s home on Big Creek in Norris Lake. A great family getaway.

THE HOUSE:

A beautifully constructed home completed for rent starting in the Summer of 2011. The house is approximately 3000 square feet, with two large decks overlooking majestic views of Norris lake. With sunset views of open water and the Cumberland Mountains in the distance, you will create memories for a lifetime. The house is an open floor plan, built as a lake house with big windows and doors opening to the water and the sunsets.

Five bedrooms, with two master bedrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs, an additional queen size bedroom, and two bunk room creates an inviting format for two or three families. Each bunk room has two double beds. Amenities include gas grill, washer/dryer, an industrial ice maker to load your coolers each day, and one of the best fire pit's on the Lake.

LOCATION:

If you like still open water, beautiful trees, and gorgeous views, this house is for you. We have a two slip covered dock with a large swim platform ( 12 x 32 feet). With half of it covered, so it is great if you love the sun or need a little shade. One slip will always be available for renters, with room to tie up an additional two boats if needed, or slips are available at nearby Sequoia and Whitman Hollow Marinas.

Our home is in the Big Creek area, positioned directly on the opposite side of the lake from Windsor Point. It is a nicely treed lot on a quiet street, ready for a rustic retreat, or the privacy for you to bring your party to Norris lake. We are a short 17 min drive off I-75, much closer to 75 than the congestion of Deerfield and far less water traffic.

ARRANGEMENTS:

See the calendar for rates. A VRBO security damage insurance fee of $59 is due upon reservation. Taxes and a cleaning fee ($300) are additional. If you have any questions or have an interest in rental, please call. The minimum age to rent is 25 years of age.

Ray's place was great. Probably the nicest place we have stayed in. Loved the dock. Beautiful porch. Misleading pet policy. Very busy boat traffic. Noisy party house across the lake! Would have like to sit on the porch at nighttime and listen to crickets, not the rap crap. Stair rails on the steps to the dock would have been nice for the older folks.

Family stay at the lake

This house was wonderful. The view was amazing, with plenty of outside seating on 2 porches or near the lake at the fire pit. The house was clean and well stocked. The walk back up to the house from the lake is steep, so just keep that in mind if you have older people in your group. Definitely recommend

The house was great! Plenty of towels and linens for our group of 13. Plenty of housewares available. Good outdoor seating. The dock was nice. The path to the dock is nice, but a little steep. Great property! Will be back!

Thanksgiving getaway

This was one the best homes we have stayed at and the owner could not have been nicer or more helpful! Very lovely home and property with every necessity available. We had a family group ranging in age from 4 to 74 and everyone had a great experience! Tom is an excellent host and very communicative and responsive. Truly a wonderful experience!

Gorgeous view of the lake

We had such a wonderful time at the lake at Ray's Place. It is a beautiful home, with every amenity you could ask for. We especially enjoyed the views and the use of the dock. Overall, it was a great experience, and we hope to make it a yearly event for our family.

Great Vacation

House was fantastic and provided a great retreat for the family. Driveway from the road and walkway to the lake are very steep, but common for the area. A handrail along the walkway to the lake could be helpful.

Phenomenal Home with Spectacular Views

What a trip! The house and property were fantastic. Very clean and comfortable. The ease of check in was great and the accessibility to near by amenities was unreal. Hanging out on the dock all day then relaxing around the fire pit at night was the highlight of our trip! What a beautiful set up and I look forward to staying here again if the opportunity arises!

Great home on Norris

The home is as advertised. Beautiful, well kept, great location on the lake. We had 4 generations of family stay here during vacation and it was well suited for everyone (ages 3 to 82). And the dock is great for swimming if you have kids. Walk to the lake from the house is steep but manageable. Tom was easy to communicate with and extremely helpful. Would highly recommend this property to others.

Beautiful home with beautiful views

My family of 7 stayed here and had a wonderful time enjoying the beautiful location and extraordinary house. The house was as described in the listing and far exceeded our expectations. Sitting on the deck watching the sunsets or lounging by the lake on the boat deck was wonderful. The owner is extremely helpful in answering all questions and concerns.

The Happiest Place on Earth

Another wonderful weekend spent at Ray's Place. My group of college friends and I make the trip down to Norris each year, and Ray's Place continues to be our favorite spot. The house is clean, well stocked, and has plenty of space to accommodate a large group. Tom is a great host, easy to get ahold of if questions arise and it seems like each time we go down there is a new amenity to make the experience more enjoyable. Already looking forward to our return next fall.

Awesome Place

Same story as the previous reviews...been coming to Norris for years, Ray's Place is simply the best place we've ever stayed. The house, the location on the lake, the attention to detail on the owners part, the view, the dock, the amenities inside the home...all of these things were first class at Ray's Place. We had three couples and 3 young children, we'll be back for Summer 2013 and Fall 2013. Just a heads-up for those who may consider Norris a "Summer Only" destination...try a Fall trip. It's half as crowded, the water is still warm, and the fall colors in the mountains are absolutely beautiful.

Absolutely Perfect

I have been to Norris Lake 6 times. This was by far one of the nicest homes on the lake. Not only were the owners pleasant and easy to work with, their home is beautiful. We spent our evenings cooking in the gourment kitchen, conversating around the beautiful granite island. There was so much room in the house for our group of 12. We also had plenty of room for food and other supplies. The view from both decks were breath taking. Luckily we were able to utilize the firepit at night which made the end of each evening perfect! We cannot wait to return next summer.

Beautiful & Comfortable Home!

Ray's Place is very special - you can tell the owners take great care of the property and it has all the comforts of home! The beds are amazing, the view from nearly anywhere in the home and especially on the decks is amazing, the fire pit area is amazing, the Norris Lake water is amazing! The kitchen is well stocked - they had all we needed and we "ate in" every day. We truly had a great time! Only challenge was the steep driveway and slope to the dock - but we expected that since most places on the lake are on a steep slope. Beautiful and very comfortable home! We loved it! Owners were great to deal with and very informative. Thank you Tom!

Quit Looking!

Many thanks to Tom for letting us book his property on short notice. You want HIGH END? This house has it all: furniture, furnishings, bedding, wifi, grill, decking, deck furniture, walkway to the lake, FIREPIT, dock, etc. Our kids spent most the time at the dock, swimming in the lake and playing on the floating mat (even in the first week of October). At night, we took full advantage of the new Weber Genesis grill and best firepit on the lake. If you are lucky enough to find an open date, I recommend that you take advantage and book immediately.

We chose this lot and house for a few reasons. We loved the amazing views of sunsets and open water not available in cove locations. We love the reduced congestion of Big Creek area versus the overcrowded, congression of the Deerfield area. We created a welcoming home, with one big great room open to the kitchen, huge decks overlooking great views of the lake, and a short walk (NO Steps) sidewalk to the water.
