Downtown TC Boutique Hotel Flat 301

The Flats at Front + Union (100 E Front Street, Traverse City, MI) is a boutique hotel that sits on the most prominent corner of downtown Traverse City, the corner of Front St and Union St. One block away from everything, including the beaches, marina, nightlife and downtown Traverse City restaurants. Each Flat comes with its own downtown parking spot.

We have 6 Flats:
-two 1 bdrm/bath that sleeps 4 (Flat 205 and 304)
-two 2 bdrm/2 bath that sleeps 4 (Flat 201 and 301)
-two 3 bdrm/2 bath that sleeps 6 (Flat 203 and 302)

Each flat is immersed in downtown Traverse City. You can walk to everything.

The corner units, Flat 201 and Flat 301 have views of West Bay down Union Street. Flat 302 has floor to ceiling windows facing Front St, the main street in downtown Traverse City. Flat 205 and 304 face west for the sunset. Flat 203 faces south and has bedrooms that are tucked into the building and show off the brick construction from 1890.

Each flat includes a fully equipped modern kitchen. We are proud to offer plush king beds adorned with soft linens locally sourced from Eelo (you can find our website by searching “Eelo Traverse City”). Eelo is owned by the Vander Roest family (one of the two families that own Front and Union) and occupies the ground floor retail space of the Front and Union building. Eelo sources, designs and manufactures its own organic, fair trade household linens. It has been reported in reviews that our linens will provide some of the best sleep you’ll ever have. The flats are fully furnished with a Scandinavian feel, functional, yet simple.

The Flats at Front + Union are located within the historic Masonic Building, built in 1890 and repurposed into a multi use building in 2023 by two local Traverse City families.

For Summer, West Bay beach, the marina and open space are all one block away. The Sleeping Bear Dunes are within a 45 minute drive.

In the Fall, enjoy a daytime color tour in Leelanau or Old Mission Peninsula followed by dinner and drinks at the famous Restaurants in downtown Traverse City.

Winter activities include skiing at local ski hills, Hickory and Mt Holiday, day trips to Boyne Mountain or Crystal Mountain, cross country or skate skiing at the VASA trail, or a simple snowshoe at Sleeping Bear Dunes.

For a real treat, visit us in the Spring. No crowds. It is a time of rejuvenation in Northern Michigan.

Exceeded our expectations!

We were delighted with the Flats at Front and Union. Clean, lots of natural light, thoughtful non-intrusive check-ins by management to ensure our safety and comfort. Very convenient onsite parking. In the middle of downtown Traverse City. We will definitely stay here during future visits to TVC.

Great stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this spacious flat! The furnishings are beautiful and comfortable. The hosts are very responsive and accommodating. And the location is perfect! So many restaurants, shops and bars within a few steps or blocks. We will definitely be back!

Fabulous stay in TC!

The Flats on Front are beautiful! The space was wonderful and location perfect. The staff was attentive, responsive and very helpful! We would absolutely stay here again and I’ve already recommended to family as a great option when they visit Traverse City in the near future.

AWESOME LOCATION

THIS FLAT IS AN AWESOME DOWNTOWN EXPERIENCE. SO EASY TO ACCESS AND WALKING DISTANCE TO EVERYTHING DOWNTOWN. THE VIEWS WERE BEAUTIFUL AND THE LARGE WINDOWS BRING IN SO MUCH LIGHT. WEST BAY VIEW FROM THE FRONT WINDOW AND THE SUNSET FROM THE SIDE WINDOW. THE CORNER FLAT IS SO SPACIOUS AND IT HAS EVERYTHING YOU NEED. BEAUTIFUL DECORATIONS AND FURNITURE. COMFORTABLE BEDS AND A STOCKED BATHROOM WERE A BONUS. STOCKED KITCHEN AND LAUNDRY MADE IT SO EASY TO STAY AND HAVE EVERYTHING YOU NEED, JUST LIKE HOME. PARKING SPACE MADE IT LESS STRESSFUL ARRIVING AND VENTURING OUT. WE WILL DEFINITELY BE RETURNING.

Perfect spot for our TC trip

Stayed in Flat 301 for a few nights on our girls trip to TC. Everything about this flat is wonderful. The location can't be beat. Parking and building access is so easy. The unit is beautiful and has everything you need for your stay. The beds and pillows are so comfortable. The towels and linens are so plush. And the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. We didn't want to leave!

Great place to stay.

We really enjoyed our stay in Flat 301. This was on the top floor and was wonderful view of the city and Lake Michigan. The location cannot be beat, you are in the perfect location for touring the city and a short walk to the beach. The decor was nice, and the beds were so comfortable. Steve was great and was there to assist with anything we needed. We have already booked our next stay and look forward to many more visits. Kelly and Roger M

Amazing space & location!

We are picky when it comes to accommodations and Flats at Front & Union blew us away. Beautiful space, equipped with quality products and an unbelievably responsive host. The location and parking could have been more ideal for shopping and eating downtown. We highly recommend you check it out!

Perfect weekend getaway

Hands down this is the nicest property I’ve stayed at. My partner and I were looking for a great weekend getaway and the location of the unit could not be better. We were walking distance from everything downtown TC has to offer. Everything in the unit was super thoughtful. The towels and bedding were better than what we have at home. Definitely appreciated the thoughtful, local touches. The only thing is that the location is so cool and wonderful that somebody may take your reserved parking spot. We had a couple times where we came back from a hike/outing and our spot was taken. Otherwise wonderful experience. Perfect location, easy check in, great host. Totally worth it.

The Masonic Building was built in 1890 by the Freemasonry. The character of the building had been covered up with decades of drywall and carpeting. In 2023, Front + Union was formed by two local Traverse City families and they began repurposing the property as a boutique hotel and multi-use building. All of the character of century old brick was uncovered wherever possible in the hallways and rooms. The interior was divided into 6 Flats that have a Scandinavian minimalist, yet luxury feel. The ground floor features the store, Eelo.

The Flats at Front + Union in Traverse City feature contactless arrival and departure. Prior to your arrival, you will be sent your own personal key code to enter the flat you have reserved. Each flat comes with one on site parking spot immediately behind the building. Elevator access provides easy entry to each floor. All flats have stepless access both inside and outside the flat, with the exception of flat 301 which, in addition to a bedroom on the main floor, has a spiral staircase to a loft bedroom.
