WATCH THE WHALES right in front of the home Nov to April.even hear their songs at night. The oceanfront is magnificent. Although the ocean fronting the home is not suitable for swimming.

Kai Malolo was perfect for our family vacation. The fact that it was in a very remote location provided a serene environment where we could rest and relax while not exploring the island. We loved hanging at the pool, sunrises on the lanai, stargazing at night and the amenities were perfect for our family of five. And being only an hour from Volcano's National Park allowed us to witness the eruption of Kilauea during our visit - a spectacular experience that we may have missed if we stayed on another part of the island. We all commented on the unique drive on Govt Beach Road with its Jurassic Park vibe mixed with ocean front views. Highly recommended.

The location is beautiful but not as centrally located as some others. It’s a good option but make sure you factor in drive times when booking. The host was excellent and attentive to our needs.

Our visit coincided with a severe rain storm so we could not enjoy all aspects of the house but it was still great. Kept us safe and dry!

The vacation home is a gem, it was well equipped and met our needs comfortably. There is nothing to be improved upon. We loved it and hope to visit again.

This is a perfect place for a getaway from the busy life. House was very spacious and pool was beautiful. The only thing I would recommend would be an automated gate system because going in and out of the house with it pouring rain is not ideal. It can get really dark at night so bring some headlamps so you can see if you plan on leaving the house and arriving after sunset.
View from lanai. I recommend during sunrise and sunset for relaxing here.
The road to the house can get busy on this road. Can fit 1 car but you will need to veer off to the dirt/gravel at times for oncoming traffic.

Lots of hens/chickens/roosters in the area and some come inside the driveway.

Four of us stayed at Kai Malolo for two weeks. We had a wonderful time. The home is spacious and light with spectacular views of the ocean. We watched whales from the lanai. The pool was exceptional and we spent several days just hanging out enjoying the ocean breezes and the pool. Management was very responsive whenever we had any issues. The day after Kilauea erupted they came and pressure washed around the house to remove any ash and Pele's hair. This is the perfect home for a relaxing, private Hawaiian adventure.

Truly the most amazing place I have ever had the opportunity to stay. The privacy was lovely. We enjoyed having a pool to ourselves and the whole property is so beautiful! Even the drive through the forest to get there- it felt nice and secluded with nature everywhere. Easy drive to beaches and VNP! This was our first time visiting the big island and I can’t imagine staying anywhere else! Would love to come back and stay here again someday.

We had a magical, restorative stay at Kai Malolo. The house is beautiful, and the location is breathtaking. The house has everything you may need (and more!) to cook all of your meals at home, and is clearly cared for. Terry provided lots of recommendations, which was great! It’s in a very peaceful and quiet location, and you can drive to Pāhoa or Hilo very easily from there. If you are looking for a non-tourist experience, this is your place. We would most definitely stay here again - it was so hard to leave!

Remote beautiful getaway

Amazing secluded retreat. Enjoyed the pool and extras provided. Walk to cliffs was fun. Beautiful views, saw a handful of sea turtles swimmingby the shore. Nicely decorated house with great views from inside and on lanai. Beautiful sunrise view from the rocks, worth catching it. The most unique place we've stayed. Absolutely loved it.

Terry communicated with us very well, and even though there were some unexpected circumstances, she was understanding and cooperative. I would definitely stay at one of her properties again!

Wonderful escape - beautiful location, spacious and comfortable house

We loved our ocean view, hearing the waves and relaxing in/by the pool. Nestled close to the coast in a natural setting, the house provides comfort, convenience and space to escape and relax. Off the beaten path, it is a little slice of paradise to which we'd return in a heartbeat.

20th Anniversary Trip

This was the perfect peaceful getaway after staying in busy Honolulu. The house was very nice with great views. It was everything we wanted it to be and more. The neighbors were very nice an the walk to the cliffs was short with amazing views, We would definitely stay here again.

AMAZING SPOT!

We enjoyed everything about our stay at this place! Starting from the drive into the house through a mystical beautiful forest, the cliffs behind the house are a such a lovely way to start the day, the great lanai to watch the ocean and hear the waves crashing and all of it! Kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed, water was hot, A/C is only in the living room (rooms all have a fan). We liked the nearby town of Pahoa a lot (check out the thai place on the main street). Would definitely stay again!
