Welcome fall in Northern Michigan at Horn HideAway! Escape to crisp mornings, brilliant fall colors, cozy evenings around the fire, and everything Northern Michigan has to offer this season. We're just minutes from Gaylord, making the cottage a perfect home base for fall color tours, hiking, fishing, and exploring the area.
Planning ahead for snowmobile season? Book now! When the snow arrives, bring your sleds and hit the trails—you can directly access the Gaylord–Lewiston trail system from our subdivision, making Horn HideAway a convenient home base for a Northern Michigan snowmobile getaway. Spend the day riding and come back to a warm, comfortable cottage to relax for the evening.
The Horn HideAway features 2 bedrooms plus a spacious loft area. Please note that the loft may not be ideal for young children, as it is accessed by a built-in ladder. The ladder is sturdy and secure, and the loft space can be closed off for privacy. We affectionately call this cozy retreat the “Birds’ Nest.” It includes a queen bed, full bed, and a dedicated workspace with an additional monitor, making it perfect for relaxing or remote work.
The kitchen was recently updated featuring a new stove, refrigerator, and dishwasher. A breakfast bar with seating for two overlooks the dining area. The dining table has room for at least 4 more. Guests will also find plenty of small appliances including a coffee maker, crockpot, waffle maker, griddle, electric mixer, and more to make your stay comfortable and convenient.
Outside, enjoy peaceful wooded surroundings with a fire pit and multiple outdoor seating areas. Marshmallow roasting sticks are available in the kitchen, and fire starter logs are kept in the utility room if you need a little help getting the fire going.
Stay connected with high-speed internet, reliable cell service, and streaming TV options.
The Horn HideAway has been lovingly built and enjoyed by our family for over 20 years. Tucked among the trees in a peaceful wooded setting, you’ll feel away from it all while being just 10–15 minutes from Gaylord and all it has to offer.

The beds were comfortable and the property is in a nice lake community up north. It's very close to Gaylord, and it's very quiet.

Perfect for a golf trip
This was a perfect location for a golf trip to the Gaylord area. Right between Treetops and Garland and several other courses. The host was very good at responding to our questions, and the cabin was just right for us (two golfing guys) to be comfortable. Paul's Pub - about 1.5 miles down the road - was wonderful as well.

We stayed at the Horn Hideaway fro 2 nights, the rental was very clean and met all off our needs. The kids enjoyed the loft and the PS2 games

Stayed here based on location and accommodations. Great spot to stay and had a very nice up north feel to it. Comfortable beds and nice updates to the cabin! Would recommend anyone to stay here and will hopefully book this cabin again in the future. 10/10

Stayed at cabin for wedding earby
Cute cabin in quiet private wooded lot. We were not at the cabin much more than to sleep due to wedding activities. We were very tired a slept great. Quiet area and beds very comfy. My adult sons loved the loft.

Good Summer fun home
Pack light, this cabin is comfortable and cozy. Many extra essential and toys.. This was close to rivers and lakes for summer fun. Gaylord is a great town. July 4th parade and fireworks in Joannasburg gave that small town feeling. Quiet and tucked in,truly a hideaway. On our 10 night stay we explored all over northern Mi... Would definitely return

Hosting gives me the opportunity to share this peaceful Northern Michigan retreat and help other families create lasting memories.

I chose this neighborhood because it has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I’ve been coming here with my parents and grandparents since I was 2 years old. Some of my favorite childhood memories were made here—lake days, campfires, fishing, and simply enjoying the peaceful Up North setting. It’s a special place for our family, and I’m excited to share it with others.

Guests can enjoy paddleboards, a kayak, fishing, campfires, and the unique loft space we call the “Birds’ Nest.”
