The Respite House is like a little slice of heaven. What a wonderful place to stay! This charming, comfortable, and peaceful home was thoughtfully designed with exceptional attention to detail. It was clear that great care went into making the space not only wheelchair accessible, but also welcoming and accommodating for individuals with health challenges and their caregivers and families. However, this home would be equally as enjoyable for those who don’t need special accommodations. Sarah was very responsive to messages and always helpful. The check-in/check-out process couldn’t be more simple. Thus little gem was a rare and appreciated find and we would definitely stay here again.

Our stay at the Respite house was fabulous. Sarah was extremely helpful with all of our needs.

Clean, extremely accomodating. Fishing was terrific.

Accessibility was wonderful for my wife who is in a wheelchair. It was very peaceful.. We would drink our coffee on the back deck just enjoying the lake view.

We loved everything about Respite House. It was an excellent getaway for all of us, and the accessibility was perfect for my 89-year-old mom. The neighborhood is pretty, and everyone was friendly. We would definitely come back.

Relaxing time away

My 82 year old Mom and I had a wonderful stay. My Mom can’t walk very far and is on oxygen and the cabin was easily access-able, very comfortable and close to a great restaurant and a lovely view right on the lake.

Lovely lakeside cottage

The cottage was right by the lake, and it was lovely! It had was very comfortable and pleasant, and very relaxing. Our host was very kind and helpful, and very prompt in getting back to us - great to deal with! We loved our stay and would definitely stay again! Highly recommended!

Gorgeous location

We had such a relaxing time at the Respite house! The home is beautiful and so comfortable and relaxing. The view of the lake is stunning. Sarah really thinks of everything and makes you feel so welcome. Our trip was wonderful. Thank you so much!!

Beautiful, well-appointed wheelchair accessible rental on Turk Lake

Stay was wonderful! This home is thoughtfully designed for people with disabilities. Doorways are wide, no thresholds to bump over, roll under counter in kitchen, bathroom is huge and gorgeous and can walk or roll right out onto a lake front deck. Absolutely no issues with mobility which is hard to find. Owner was amazing and gracious. Highly recommend for anyone with mobility issues.

Super Stay

Sarah is an amazing hostess. She went above and beyond what we would have expected - from being sure the amenities would suit our needs to checking in on us when she saw we might need some help.I love the place! The home and the outdoor space provided the R&R that I needed as the spouse/caregiver and that my husband could feel safe and comfortable in. He even ventured out and tried some activities he hasn’t done in a couple years.

The Respite House is exactly that! It offers a sense of peace, calmness, kindness, and relaxation. Very clean/ease of access throughout. The back deck is absolutely stunning with the picturesque view of the lake. Quiet, peaceful neighborhood with a good restaurant right down the street. Thank you Sarah for above and beyind attention to detail and anazing hospitality. My boys and I will be back yearly with the overall intent of multiple times a year. It's just stunning in every aspect!

Blissful Getaway

Respite House is all it claims to be and more. Accessible rentals are hard to find, and this adorable one had everything needed, from no threshold doorways and adjustable beds to a fully accessible kitchen and bathroom. The neighborhood is peaceful and the view of the lake from the back deck was ideal for morning coffee and for night star gazing. Our host was easily reached via text message. I recommend this VRBO highly.

When we needed an accessible rental, we were not able to find one that met ADA recommendations. We are happy that we can now meet that need for other families with special requirements. Glad that you had a safe and enjoyable stay!

Trip Before School Starts

This was a long weekend trip before school starts. Having two children with mobility needs, it can be difficult to find accommodations. However, this property was perfect for our family!!! This property was completely accessible, open layout, very clean. Just wish Mother Nature was as accommodating! Will be back next year!!

4th of July Memories!

Our stay at Turk Lake was amazing! Sarah’s cottage is so “beachy”, incredibly well designed and equipped. She has thought of everything! Our son loved fishing off the dock and playing with the sand toys. The deck is amazing to sit, relax and enjoy the lake views. Turk Lake bar is just a short walk for amazing food/breakfast. Sarah is very responsive and easy to work with. There’s nothing we would change about this cottage, it’s perfect! We made so many memories over the 4th of July and we will be booking again with Sarah very soon!

Can’t wait to go back

I can’t say enough about this beautiful cabin. It is super clean and comfy…Sara thought of EVERYTHING! The restaurant is a 5 minute walk and has great food and outdoor seating. This has nothing to do with the cabin- but it would be great to have a public launch. We rented a boat on Turks lake which was only about 20 min away. The water has a bit of a smell to it when you first run it but it goes away with use. We had a wonderful time and cannot wait to go back!!

Glad you were pleased with the accommodations and amenities. While large boats cannot be launched, any that can be carried over the septic tank (kyayk, rowboats, canoes, small sailboats and paddle boats) can be launched from shore on the left side of the dock. Thank you for the heads up, we have changed the cartridges in the water filtration system to eliminate any odor.

The cottage is exactly as pictured! It was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, extremely quiet and very comfortable. The deck was spectacular! I spent all my time out there, looking at the lake. I loved watching the pontoons go by, kids on inner tubes being pulled by boats squealing to their heart's delight! It was sunny every day. I lived the bright light! We had a fire in the fire pit every night and grilled hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill most nights.If we needed anything, all we had to do was let Sarah know and she would get it for us. In addition to the deck, I loved the shower! I use a walker and need a shower chair, and it was perfect!! Very roomy and equipped with 2 shower heads and shampoo, conditioner and body wash. She even had a hair dryer that is exactly like mine! My husband did all the meal prep and dishes. He appreciated having all the dishes, etc that he needed.We will definitely be back next summer! It was a very special place and, like it's name, was a respite for me from the stressful life I have now. One final note about something that I found incredibly kind and thoughtful was the bouquet of flowers and card Sarah put on the table for me that I saw when we arrived. They were beautiful and so was the card she put with it saying "You've got this!!"It was truly a dream vacation, and I didn't want to leave!
