Welcome to our home away from home, close to everything in the Smoky Mountains! Alpine Bear Retreat is nestled in the heart of Chalet Village. Conveniently located to downtown Gatlinburg, Ober Mountain Ski Resort, Gatlinburg Bypass and Dollywood. Your days will be filled with endless adventures and boundless excitement. Sleeps 6.

Enjoy the charming 2-bedroom, 2 bathrooms with a huge balcony, furnished with comfortable and plush seating for everyone. Spend your evenings grilling with the family or relaxing and enjoy the peaceful serenity of the mountains. Our guest often spots bears and other wildlife frolicking in the open field! This is definitely one of everyone’s favorite areas! The clubhouse and pools are just a short walk away!

Other Things to Note
Please be aware, we have bears as we are in the mountains! While they seem cute and friendly, do not approach bears, call bears to you, feed bears, and do not leave trash out. If you are eating on the balcony and bears approach, please take all your food, drinks, and accessories indoors. Bears can and will climb onto the balcony for your food, even if you are out there. Do not leave food in your vehicles, (not even Happy Meal crumbs 🥰) bears can open doors and will get into your vehicle and may cause damages. Bears are often in our area; we are very close to the National Park! Keep your doors locked and windows up at all times! As long as you leave the bears alone, they will normally leave you alone and keep to themselves.

Wi-Fi/cable can be unreliable as we are in the mountains. If an outage occurs there is nothing we can do until the cable company fixes the issue.

Smoking is prohibited inside the condo and the back balcony. If you smoke inside, you will be charged an additional cleaning fee. You are welcome to smoke on the front covered patio. Close the door securely so smoke does not enter the condo. You will also be responsible for proper disposal of cigarette butts. Do not “flick” cigarettes on the ground. Thank you for your cooperation and courtesy.

This condo was fabulous. Clean, great communication from the owner, and fully equipped. The road to the condo is not for the faint of heart. Very Steep, narrow, and winding.

Hideway but close to town

It was very quite and high up in the mountains. It was close to town maybe 15 mins to Gatlinburg

The atmosphere was AMAZING and the place is so cute, cuddly, cozy and is most definitely a HOME AWAY FROM HOME :) Plenty of room and amenities!! Will most definitely stay again. The owner’s are awesome and go above and beyond to make the stay extremely enjoyable!!!

We enjoyed our stay and even saw bears! There was constant communication with the property manager. The condo was nice and represented accurately on the posting. Very pleasant experience! Only drawback is the two flights of stairs with elderly guests was difficult but no ones fault. Next time, I'd book a third floor unit (which is ground level with the parking spots), just didn't know that ahead of time. Thanks for a wonderful trip!

Comfy and much needed!

The property manager is amazing! Never experienced such kindness and follow through at a stay before. The condo is super comfy and everything you need is there. There are alot of bears in all of the area of Gatlinburg so be aware to keep your doors on cars locked and no food or scents in your vehicle. We watched a bear try to get in my car and go into many vehicles with our own eyes. Take it seriously. Would definitely go back in a heart beat!

Peaceful stay with Bear Sightings!!!

We enjoyed our stay here so much and hope to return one day in Fall/Spring. The back patio was our favorite…we spent almost every evening grilling and enjoying the shade, and hoping to spot a bear or two. ;-) The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed.

If you want to see bears this is the place to be!

How nice to stay in a condo that made you feel like you were in a lodge with all the comforts of home. We lived in Gatlinburg before and really missed the bears. We saw several and it was always a thrill. Jennifer is such a sweet lady to deal with and you knew she wanted you to be happy being there and we were.

Smoky mountain get-away

We had a great stay. I do have a few suggestions. It would be helpful to have a few more items available for cooking, more dishes to use, more toilet paper available for a family of 5 and maybe a few more items available for cooking (different seasonings, oil etc). Also, if the rental has been said to sleep 6 people, make sure the blow-up mattress on the pull-out couch is in working order. Thank you

It was a great time! Perfect for traveling with my kids and my mom. Close enough to be convenient to Gatlinburg/ Pigeon Forge, but far enough from the hustle and bustle to be relaxing!

Perfect Get Away!

This was the perfect get away for my family. The condo was modern and clean with plenty of room for 6 people with every amenity needed. I arrived in town early and Jennifer was able to make sure it was cleaned and ready for me earlier than the check in time. She was a wonderful host from the minute I made the reservation. She was available by text or phone call within minutes of me asking a question. We enjoyed sitting on the back deck and being ground level especially when the bears came out to play or just cruise through the property. Even though we did visit other areas to see the bears, there really isn't a need to do that.

A perfect spot to relax

We had a great time staying at Alpine Bear! The place is very cozy and the perfect spot to relax. It was neat and well-maintained, providing a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Its proximity to downtown Gatlinburg is a major plus, as there are plenty of activities and attractions nearby to keep you entertained. Highly recommended for a fun and relaxing getaway!

Outstanding Retreat!

We enjoyed a week at the condo, which is just perfection! The location is great, beautiful views all the way up and at the condo itself. We have rented many vacation homes, but hosts Brien and Jennifer have furnished this home so well for the six guest capacity. The dining room table seats six, the living room seats six, and the patio seats six. This is such a well thought out and impactful plus. We spent hours on the patio every day watching for bears. While we did not see any during our stay, I can’t say enough about the size of the patio and the blissful comfort of the furniture out there. I, like many, have a high stress job, and the fact I never took my work laptop out of the bag says it all. I was so relaxed and content, I got to truly unwind and enjoy the Smoky Mountain peace. The most difficult part of our stay was packing the car to go. While we were sad to leave, we are already planning our next trip to this delightful condo. It truly is a retreat!

Solid Pick

The property is equipped with everything you need ( literally everything). We loved the decor and attention to detail throughout the property. It is located in the upper portion of the mountain which was a bit nerve wrecking driving up, but it was worth the drive! The peace and quiet in this location was awesome! Jennifer was hands down one of the best host I have worked with. Our experience was great overall. My only downfall is the close proximity to neighbors, but this is not a deal breaker as the patios are very spacious. We enjoyed our stay, and I need details on the mattress in the master bedroom! It was soooo comfy!

My husband and I live in Louisiana, just outside of New Orlean’s. It’s always been a dream of ours to own a home in the Gatlinburg! We love to travel and explore new destinations, although the Smoky Mountains will always be our favorite. We enjoy hiking, snorkeling, walks on the beach, and taking long rides in our Jeep! We love spending time with our grandson, exploring exciting and new adventures with him!

We knew it would be the perfect home to create many wonderful memories with our children and grandchildren! We enjoy spending our evenings on the cozy balcony watching our Mama bear and her baby cubs along with all the other wildlife come out to play. We have a wonderful time getting out and exploring the many trails and sights the Smoky Mountains offer. There’s so many new adventures to explore every time we visit.

Alpine Bear Retreat offers 3 seasonal Clubhouses and community pools.

Upper Alpine Clubhouse
Upper Alpine within walking distance.
The pool deck offers shade and sunshine, a view of the ski slopes, a 3ft – 8ft pool, a wading pool for little ones, a cascading rain drop umbrella adds to the fun. A game room with a pool table, foosball, air hockey, video games, chess and checkers.
This facility is closed for maintenance on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

South Baden Clubhouse is just steps away from Ober Mountain. Get an all-day wristband and spend the day going back and forth without having to leave our scenic mountain top or dealing with traffic!
The Clubhouse features a swimming pool, tennis courts, shuffleboard, horseshoes and a kid’s playland.
The Clubhouse has pool tables, ping pong, foosball, checkers, chess, video games and a small work out room.
This facility is closed on Tuesdays for maintenance.
Meeting rooms are available for reunions, groups and retreats for an additional fee.

North Clubhouse is located on the corner of Wiley Oakley and Village Loop.
North clubhouse offers 3 swimming pools, lighted tennis courts, paved walking trail, ping pong, foosball, and yard games.
North Clubhouse is closed Wednesdays for maintenance. Tennis courts are open year-round. Bring your own tennis equipment or use ours during open hours.
A private banquet room is available at an additional charge for gatherings, meetings, wedding receptions and events!
